Scoutcast Episode 280 – Humbug

The Scoutcast crew emerge from the congested festive fixtures a little out of sorts as they look ahead to Gameweek 22 and beyond.

Poor captaincy and transfer decisions heralded a dramatic fall in Az and Luke’s overall rank over their torrid Christmas campaign.

David fared better with only a small red arrow over the period but he is not happy with his squad as he prepares for January and February’s matches.

Joe was the only one to see a jump in his overall rank but fears a slump is just around the corner as he approaches the next set of games without a number of well-owned players with strong fixtures.

Among the community issues they tackle is which premium assets and formations will reap the greatest rewards in the coming Gameweeks.

Another topic covered is the potential of the budget enablers to emerge from the January transfer window’s early activity.

Meanwhile, hidden gems from teams with great fixtures over the next two months also come under consideration.

Gameweek 22 is also looked at in detail as the crew reveal their top clean sheet and differential tips as well as their own transfer and captaincy plans.

Man City don't play till Monday next week so hard to read too much into tonights line-up. All who feature will have 5 days till next game.

I’m confident raheem is one the first on the team sheet. So it depends which player you refer too ?

I’m looking to bring in Kun, makes it somewhat more appetizing but very right, not much in tonight’s lineup.

    Another WC draft. .Any good?

    Guaita
    Robbo - TAA - Digne
    Salah - Hazard - Sane - Pogba
    Auba - Rashford - Jimenez

    (Button - CHO - AWB - Bednarek)

0,7ITB, could be to upgrade Button, or Jimmy to Wilson(if he would go to Chelsea)

Bernardo Silva benched tonight. Has done well in PL this season and Pep clearly rates him highly so thinking of getting him in. Still decent option or not ? -accepting like all City attacking players a
risk of rotation but shown can do well off bench.

    A Yes still decent pick
    B No

A little help on a draft trade lads:

He wants from me : alonso & walcott

I get in return: Rudiger and mahrez

    Should i do it?

      • Fantasy Football Scout Member

      5 years, 3 months ago

I wouldnt. Rudiger and Alonso will score the same...unless Alonso starts producing attacking points again. Walcott and Mahrez are about the same value in my opinion, so its really about the Chelsea swap. Is Rudiger a better choice than Alonso? I don't think so.

I have a really strong bench right now and don’t see any transfers I’d need to make in the next few weeks.

Is Kane > Aguero > Kane honky conky a no go? I think it could be being too clever, or perhaps just clever enough.

    Rashford, TAA, Sane.

    Patricio

I personally don’t mind captaining Hazard. It’s the fact that he’s so much cheaper than Kane which swings it. Gives me a better squad that can really take advantage of fixtures.

Dare I say it but can Rashford match Kane for 5.5m less? Has the form and fixtures to do so.

I'm quite tempted by Bernardo Silva on WC. A bit under the radar how much of a key player he has become under Pep this season. Now rested in the cup as well. He has played only 8 mins less than Fernandinho (who plays all the time)! He has also already played 154 minutes more than last season!

11 attacking returns isn't too shabby either at this point of the season.
Could he be the City attacker to own at only 7.5M? If you are captaining Salah/Kane most weeks anyway and worry about Pep's rotation like me? 🙂

What about D.Silva at 8.5? Or are they both too risky with KDB back in the mix? Would love some discussion on the Silvas !

IMO it's not a question of whether he is the best value MC attacker, but whether he is best value 7.5 (or call it 6.5 - 8) mid

      Rich

      Anderson

Wouldn't be too sure. Pep basically given the whole squad a game over the two cup games. City have a good rest between their next PL game and the PL game after that. If they see off Burton tonight then they could rest players in the second leg, giving their first team a nice rest for the PL game after that.

Mahrez has started both of the cup games. Surely it will be Sterling and Sane to start in the league. They're in a serious title race, Pep will want to play his best team.

Had a few rubbish weeks but have 2 FT this week and 0.7 ITB. Nothing is really inspiring me though

    Foster
    Trent. AWB. Digne
    Rich. Salah. Fanderson. Pog. Hazard
    Kane. Jiminez

    Speroni. Doherty. Kamara. Bednarek

Anything worth doing with a free transfer?

    For free, yay or nay?

Hazard and FAnderson to Salah and Camarasa (with the latter being a rotating 5th mid).

IMO, bringing in Salah right now is not imperative until GW 25 and Anderson can score against ARS atrocious defense.

Wouldn't ditch Hazard with Willian and Pedro healthy. There is a good chance he will play as a false nine vs NEW.

best option for the next 5 gw's

    A:
    gw22: Hazard (NEW) + Sterling (WOL) (c)
gw23 onwards: Sterling (hud, new, ARS, CHE) + Salah (CRY, LEI, whu, BOU)

    B: involves a hit
gw22: Hazard (NEW) + Son (MUN)
gw23 onwards: Hazard (ars, bou, HUD, mci) + Salah (CRY, LEI, whu, BOU)

So essentially you are saying that sterling will outperform hazard by 4 points in the next few weeks...yeah?

    Any ideas for this team?

    Fabianski
    TAA, Alonso, Digne, AWB
    Salah (c), Hazard, Richarlison, Snodgrass
    Kane, Rashford

    Button, Doherty, Jiménez, Højbjerg*

    1FT, 0.6 ITB

Hold, down the line maybe downgrade Marcos to 4.9 Liverpool CB double up, then Snod to Pogba. Not sure if that’s enough money

Utd next, playing deep, Son going (which means Moura and / or Lamela ruining his goal threat)

Lovely fixture this weekend against utd - OGS not the type to park a bus, so any little bit of space Kane can get should be to his advantage.

Top points scorer out of the big 6 over the last 5 games (Kane 44 points Salah next on 40), going for his 11th consecutive start with attacking returns, and best fixtures in the league for next 5 weeks.

Anyone selling him is not an FPL threat so no panic.

Would recommend buying Kane if one already owns Salah?

In fact you conveniently stopped at 5 games, in last 6 games Kane 45pts, Salah 71pts. Landslide.

5 games is a fair time period - it gives context to how good Kane has been of late, we’re not talking 1, 2, or 3 games, 5 is fairly sustained.

They’re basically equal over 8 games, which again shows just how good Kane has been as that includes Salah’s hattrick

The point still stands, anyone selling Kane isn’t really a serious FPL threat so let them have at it I say

Hopefully City beat Burton 5-0 or more. That will mean Pep can rest players in the second leg and all but confirm the GW27 blank for them.

Probably by half time so 3 of those playing (sane in particular) get rested for half the game today too

De Bruyne DSilva and BSilva - how do you think Pep fits them in. If KDB starts regularly presumably Silva v Silva for place?
