FPL Question Time – Consult our panel ahead of Gameweek 23

With only two more Gameweeks to contest in the rest of this month, January provides a little respite for Fantasy managers after the hectic festive period just gone.

There is plenty to consider ahead of next Saturday’s deadline and indeed in the medium term, be it blanks, doubles, the abundance of premium options, chip strategies or the fallout from this weekend’s matches.

Our rotating guest panel – which this week includes a former winner of Fantasy Premier League – are here to help answer any Fantasy-related queries you may have.

Make sure you submit your question in the form below to consult our panel.

Who’s on the panel this week?

Chief FPL Manager – A member of the Fantasy community with a huge Twitter following, “Chief” runs the FPL Hints website and has six top 1% finishes to his name.

Ben Crabtree – The proud Evertonian who was the overall winner of FPL in 2016/17.

FPL Family – The popular married couple who play FPL together, running a YouTube channel and Twitter account to document their battles.

Hazard, hold or sell. With 0 City assets its getting tougher and tougher to justify holding Hazard over Sterling with City starting to find their feet

I'm holding for now. Other potential fires to put out & City's fixture list isn't the MOST obliging anyway, although sure - they can score against anyone.

Hazard is finally up against teams that won't park the bus in the next two, and he had a great record against Bournemouth. He's not been putting up dead awful stats in the last few games either.

As an aside, hopefully with a new striker coming in, some of the chances be creates might actually begin to get converted.

If I desperately need to ship, it's easy to get a City MID for him. However, I'm not captaining so he keeps his place.

Depends who you are. If is City then they can afford to spend £75m on a player who will be benched most of the time (e.g. Mahrez)

He's about to turn 27. With his previous injuries to consider, I would estimate 50m will be the max he goes for.

Would be a perfect addition for Everton. Hard to get used to these valuations, but 75m sounds about right in the current market.

Neil Warnock says UK will be much better after Brexit: “To hell with the rest of the world.” Warnock has players from 11 countries in his squad. Cardiff are owned by Malaysian billionaire & run by a Cypriot banker. Warnock in France last week trying to sign an Argentinian striker

    Brexit means Brexit.

But he did say "to hell with the rest of the world" when his salary, boss and players come from various countries, that are not just the UK, that are in the world he would like to send to hell. I can see from your lack of rational thinking that you and Warnock would get on a treat politically

It does not really matter what Warnock or Carragher said init.

Fact is that that the majority of the UK voted to leave so the politicians and media who dont want it will just have to get on with it.

The UK has come through bigger storms than Brexit in the past and i am sure they will see off those pencil pushers in Brussels with ease when they put their minds to it.

I think you underestimate the power of the EU as the pen pushers don't appear to be buckling in any shape or form, the reality is that they don't give 2 shits about the UK walking away from them. The days when this country was a world leader in industry are long, what does this country actually produce ? The mining and steel industries are gone, car production is under threat with Jaguar announcing 4,500 staff redundancies this week, Nissan is looking dodgy in Sunderland. It's ok for the likes of Warnock to give it large when his bank balance can withold the threat of a P45! I'm no fan of the EU but im minded to the fact that we need them far more than they need us im afraid.

Mining and steel were basket cases in the UK economy and heavily subsidized by the productive parts of the economy.

Maybe the pen pushers in Brussels are smiling because they will sail off into the sunset either way with a big pension and wont be affected in the slightest unlike the governments and peoples of the country's that will have to pick up the pieces after this and will be blocked from doing bilateral agreements with the UK by the EU because their economic and political sovereignty has been eroded which is what the EU is all about.

The redundancies at Jaguar are largely explained by a slow down in the Chinese economy and i can not see how you can blame Brexit for that?

The Brits have and will be big players on the world stage and they are going nowhere in that respect. The EU wanted to introduce a financial transaction charge for trades and if that happened i would be much more worried about the flight of capital from the City of London considering how much money it pulls in than a few ex EU politicians and staffers losing their pensions.

          1. Arch Stanton

I admire your optimism ref becoming a big player on the world stage, however, I have serious doubts regarding that and it's going to take more than the Malaysian employed Warnock or the guvnor of Wetherspoons to convince me otherwise.

I live close to an industrial state in one of the largest cities in the Country and the vast majority of those units are foreign owned manufacturers employing hard working British and EU immigrants who are paying into our system.

The EU isn't perfect, however, I'm concerned about the future of our Country with the likes of Germany and France having access to a strong and vibrant single market trading zone.

Lookman hopefully going to take his chance, Walcott has been on a poor run of form.

Lookman is quality Walcott is past it. Shame Lookman didn’t get the same meteoric rise sancho got in his time at Dortmund. He needs time at Everton hopefully he nails a place I like him

I'm very confused regarding goalkeeper situations.
in FPL i choosed Fab and Hennessey...but...when hennessey missing and return for injurie it's a joke.
at last GW i choosed hennessy instead fab..i toast 9 points...

how to manage the goal keeper situation?or i need to play only with fab?

Fabianski still a good option for a while I'd say

I'm sticking with Fab, cos I have too many other moves up to use an FT on him ...... and very few keepers are worth a hit unless blanks / dgws come into play

He's good for save points, and their fixtures improve in GW26

No Wilson in squad could mean transfer incoming this week. If he moves to another PL club.....I'll be buying straight away. Fantasy gold!!!

B would make a lot of sense actually. Bit of a sideways move for him, even if West Ham are building a better squad right now.

Would cost West Ham an awful lot...

1 goal in 7GW's now for Wilson, surely no one is keeping?

Unless he went to Chelsea, he'd become a great option!
