Captains

Captain Sensible – Best Man City players in Double Gameweek 25

Manchester City options have dominate the Double Gameweek 25 captaincy as they prepare for two Premier League fixtures in a matter of days.

Fantasy managers are therefore faced with two dilemmas concerning the first Double of the season.

The first is assessing which of Pep Guardiola’s men is the best option, especially considering his rather unpredictable rotation policy.

The second is whether or not to trust that player with the armband when there are also some decent options with only one match this Gameweek.

We aim to tackle both of these issues in this week’s Captain Sensible article.

Captain Poll

After scoring Manchester City’s only goal in their defeat at Newcastle, Sergio Aguero (£11.3m) is the most popular captain candidate for Gameweek 25. He has a 29% share of the vote at the time of writing.

For the first time in several weeks, we actually have a closely contested battle for the armband according to the poll, with Leroy Sané (£9.7m) hot on Aguero’s tails with 24% of the vote. Those who have given the German their backing are likely to be influenced by his greater chance of starting both matches in Gameweek 25.

Voters are probably less sure of a start for Raheem Sterling (£11.3m), as he has just 9.5% of the vote currently. The England international is doing battle with Mohamed Salah (£13.6m) for third place, as 9.2% of the voters believe that Liverpool’s match away at West Ham is captain material on its own, even with the Doubles in play.

Having found the net on his immediate return from the Asian Cup, Son Heung-min (£8.6m) leads the chasing pack. 6% of voters are backing this differential option ahead of a home meeting with Newcastle on Saturday lunch-time. Since Gameweek 13, Son has averaged nine points per appearance for Spurs, an incredible run of form.

The two fixtures for Everton seems to have given Richarlison (£6.8m) a bit of a boost in the poll, with 4.9% of voters backing him as the best captain option with matches against Wolves and Manchester City. Gylfi Sigurdsson (£7.4m) is also in the mix with a 1.6% share, Eden Hazard (£10.9m) sat between the two Toffees on 3.9%.

Other Manchester City options considered by a select few include Kevin De Bruyne (£9.7m) backed by 1.09% and Aymeric Laporte (£5.9m) on 0.57%.

So TAA has missed 3 PL games already. That initial assessment of him being out for a month seems spot on and it was Klopp who was telling fibs.

Noted, but surely taking Hazard out for HUD is a bit risky? Especially if neither Sané or Sterling play both games?

    MF looking very dodgy...
    Should I:

    A. Pogba to Son
    B. Herrera to Ward-Prowse
    C. Redmond to Ward-Prowse

I don't think any of those moves are especially beneficial.
      Keep Pogba.
Redmond to JWP is sideways, and Herrera to JWP is double Saints midfield.

      Who are your other two?

I'd just downgrade, probably Herrera, to a benchable 5th mid then...or take a punt on someone with a double this week, like Fernandinho, and bench Redmond.

I might just hold the FT

      Will Son be fit?
Today is a point to asses him. Yesterday after 24 hours he was so tired and we don’t do too much on training. Today we will train and prepare and will see if he’s in condition to win.

Was set on (A) Hazard & Firmino > Sane & Aguero
    but... (B) Hazard & Firmino > Sterling & Aguero

    Which would you do?

2ft and would maybe take -4 to have all players available in GW27.

Best Digne replacement (£5.1 to spend)

    A) Danilo
    B) Holebas

Also, should I stick with TAA if the bench will cover me this week? No better options at his price point imo.

    Cheers

Danilo a rotation risk and Holebas is on 9 yellow cards (one off a 2 game ban).

How about Kola? Or Clyne (Bournmouth dont blank).

      Yes stick with TAA.

i've made a mistake on previous page - was led to believe Digne had a 3 game ban but is in fact back for City and GW 26 as well. on that basis i am keeping and will just bench this week.

    Boruc | Fabs
Robbo WB Bennett | Digne* Pereira
    Salah Pogba Haz Rich Sterling
    Rashford Jimenez | Kamara

    1 FT and 0.5 ITB

Allready did Bego to Boruc. Should i Digne out for Bednarek with the other FT? In that way i can free up some cash for Kamara to Auba before GW 27....Y or N?

Popular transfer this GW. Particularly if you are going to captain Aguero.

    Fabianski (Stekelenburg)
    TAA, Digne, Wan-Bissaka, (Bennett, Bendarek)
    Salah, Hazard, Sane, Anderson, Richarlison
    Aubameyang, Rashford (Kamara)

    2FT, 0.1 in bank

    How to use FT?

Would like to do Hazard & Anderson --> Pogba & Son, but Pogba not fit and Hazard has a good fixture.
Would like to hold TAA for the long-term, even though he's currently injured.

Digne out? Shaw / Kolasinac in?

Thinking Digne to Kola and leaving on bench. Gives me 2FT next week and only Sterling and Richarlison to remove ahead of GW27 - probably for Mane and Son.

    What do you think?

    Shaw - Doherty - AWB
