Captains

Captain Sensible – Salah the favourite but Man United options overlooked

After Double Gameweek 25 caused a great divide in the Fantasy Premier League world, managers have been reunited on one issue for Gameweek 26.

It already looks as if Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah (£13.6m) will be the obvious captain candidate this weekend, but we need more than a poll result to determine if he’s the best option.

We have analysed all the potential options for the armband so that Fantasy Football Scout members can see the results…

Captain Poll

Despite blanks in both of his last two matches, Salah has returned to the summit of the Fantasy Football Scout captain poll. He heads into Gameweek 26 backed by 54% of the voters, 37% more than any other option. Bournemouth are the next visitors to Anfield, having conceded 20 goals in their last seven away trips.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.2m) is a long way off in second place as owners of Sergio Aguero (£11.4m) consider him as the ideal replacement with Blank Gameweek 27 looming large. 17% of our voters have backed the Arsenal man ahead of a trip to Premier League basement boys Huddersfield Town.

Even further behind the top two are Manchester United pair Marcus Rashford (£7.8m) and Paul Pogba (£8.7m), who will face Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday lunch-time. The former looks more popular for Gameweek 26 with a 7% share, while Pogba is just behind on 5.32%.

Interestingly, next up on the list is Aleksandar Mitrovic (£6.5m), who will also play in the same fixture. He has 2% of the vote, the same amount as Salah’s Liverpool colleague Sadio Mané (£9.5m), who has outscored him by 24 points to 19 over the last three Premier League matches.

Aguero leads a list of options under 2%, with 1.6% of voters looking to captain the Manchester City talisman for their big match against Chelsea on Sunday.

He is just ahead of Son Heung-min (£8.8m) on 1.5% and Raúl Jiménez (£6.7m) on 1.13%.

Yeah, this is something I'm trying to figure out how to fix automatically.

Right now, every time I do any RMT tweak it removes Kamara and all the other players who have been removed from FPL. That means I have to add them in manually. As I do many RMT tweaks every day it becomes quite a lot of time manually adding players back in.

Can you try to add a different 0 player in instead of Kamara for now? That will give you the same before/after points total as if you had Kamara

Reposting here as it got lost at the bottom of the last page... thanks to Zladan for his reply.

    After a bit of advice.

Here's my team going into GW26, with 1 FT and 0.3 in the bank.

    Fabianski
    Digne, Doherty, Kolasinac, Wan-Bissaka
    Salah, Sterling, Pogba, Sigurdsson
    Aguero, Rashford

    Steele, David Luiz, Brooks, Kamara

The issue is GW27, I have Digne, David Luiz, Sigurdsson, Sterling, Aguero, Kamara and probably Brooks who won't play, which means I'll have to take a couple of -4's to get 11 out.

I've considered Sigurdsson, Sterling > Mane, Son this week for -4, although Sterling's stats and the fact he'll probably start means I'm not 100% convinced on that one.

What do you think? Any other moves I should consider? Not averse to taking out anyone missing 27.

    Thanks in advance.

      • 9 Years

      It's a pickle for sure.
I'd want to keep Sterling this week, as you say he should play.
      Re-evaluate prior to 27.
At least you don't have United/Liverpool defenders, and most on here do, so if it's a high scoring game at OT, and I think it will be, then even you don't put out a full 11, you've not lost much on people who have with those defenders, if that makes sense...I know what I mean anyway.

Your team looks fine this week. I'd roll FT and reassess next week. Siggy is well rested and playing against a Watford team that concede plenty. You have Pool attack in Salah already and I think Leicester have been playing well so can't see a crazy Son haul (cue hat trick). Sterling also well rested and we know what happened last time he played a match with Aguero. Roll FT, take one hit next week if it makes sense then and field 10 I reckon.

My plan was always to save this week and have 2 FT's in GW 27. Though I've got a terrible niggle/hunch feeling tempting me to put Martial in. Might seem crazy, especially with Liverpool next up and already owning a few players in that game. I just think he is going to haul in the early game

So when to use our chips a lot will depend on Chelsea v Man u in the cup.

if chelsea lose then they will be an option for GW31 so maybe we wont need to FH in GW31?
if chelsea win i will fh in 31 as i dont fancy building a team around bmouth and west ham and leicester players

exactly...I like planning, as we all do I guess, but everything will be a lot more clear after next round FA cup results (and draw)

    Would you rather have:

    A) Demarei Gray
    B) Harvey Barnes

    In draft league.

Who’s got your most bench points this season? AWB by any chance?

I presume it'll be AWB for the vast majority by quite some way

What fascinates me is how his price continues to rise. If he’s near universal bench fodder, who’s transferrring him in? It’s not as if there aren’t other budget defenders.

he's actually quite playable a lot of the weeks though

            Agreed.

It’s just that I wouldn’t be transferring him in at that price if he wasn’t going to play regularly.

I switched out from Digne for instance as he was a perma sub. The closest he came to scoring for me was the match Rich made a sub appearance and robbed me of 17 points.

In principle I’d prefer to spend my millions upfield and not on reserve defenders.

AWB. My permanent autosub for TAA all season.

Think a few had Digne 19 pointer on the bench.
      AWB for me.

He was on my bench that GW too.... (see below - I'm not enjoying the benching headaches this year...)

Fraser for me. I have had Fraser and AWB since GW1. Whilst on my bench i.e. points i have not 'enjoyed' they have scored 55 and 50 respectively. That hurts......

Well done on Fraser - a truly enlightened pick in week one. Seems you used up all your foresight too early!

stretch it to GW2 next year if I can....I have him on the bench again this weekend - colleagues at work are rubbing hands with glee that he is now likely on for a haul!

How this looking? 1FT 3.7M ITB

    MCcarthy
    Doherty AWB Robertson
Salah (C) Pogba Rich Son Jota
    Firmino Rashford

    Guatia / Bennet / Alonso / Kamara

I'd start Guaita imo. SOU always allows a goal to sneak by.

Do you have any ideas for a Rich replacement?

double palace against an erratic west ham... not keen

Rich survives another week it looks like but will become a player that plays in the blanks i think will decide after FA cup games and draw

Who would you sell this week: Sterling or Hazard?
Sterling at home, Hazard on penalties. I can't call it - any wise thoughts appreciated.

      Tricky. Both away.
Everton are bobbins at the moment - would probably go with Luiz.

Are they ever going to remove that red flag from TAA, the lad is in full training now FFS! At least change it to a yellow.

Stuff like this really hurts player values.
