Gameweek 28 captaincy easier call than predecessor

The Gameweek 28 captaincy looks like a much easier call for Fantasy Premier League managers than its predecessor.

You can now vote in the latest poll at the foot of this article or in the sidebar.

In Blank Gameweek 27 many of us struggled to find a candidate for the armband that inspired much confidence, and indeed, the most popular options all blanked.

However, in this midweek Gameweek, we have some much more appealing assets on offer.

Mohamed Salah (£13.6m) and his Liverpool colleagues host a Watford side admittedly in good spirits after a heavy win at Cardiff, but the Hornets have conceded seven goals in their last five away trips.

The last time Watford rocked up at Anfield, the Egyptian broke the record for highest number of points scored in a Gameweek, his four goals and one assist making for a 29-point haul.

Salah has scored in every single Premier League match he has ever played against the Hornets, currently on six goals in three meetings with them.

Alternatively, Sergio Aguero (£11.6m) potentially becomes an option again after his Blank Gameweek 27 absence.

Manchester City host West Ham on Wednesday night, although it will be a few days after the extra-time played in the League Cup final – could that convince Pep Guardiola to rest him? We will have to see what he says in his next press conference.

However, some uncertainty over the Argentinian might even help simplify this captaincy call after such a tricky decision over the weekend.

There will be no cause for Salah to be benched, which may heavily swing the vote into his favour..

    Who would you play?

    A: Lloris (Chelsea away)
    B: Boruc (Arsenal away)

Am I mad to consider using my FT on Rashford -> Wood? (I am going to field 11 in GW31 & GW33 and FH in GW 32 - Gonna bench: Lloris, Pogba, Son & Doherty/Jiménez)

    1: Yes
    2: No

Team looking good for this week?

    Lloris/Boruc
Doherty - Pereira - van Dijk - Robertson
    Salah (C) - Sterling - Pogba - Son
    Jiménez - Rondón

    (Lloris/Boruc, Jonny, Townsend, Rashford)

      Aguero | Aubameyang | Rashford

      Hamer | Bednerak/Bennett | Valery | Camarasa

      Bennet is the safe choice.
Every team in front of you will field Doherty + Jiménez next week.

Bennet + Jota is somewhat covering your A**, but I guess Bednarek would be the pick to potentially move up the rankings

I did a -8 to get Arnie and Lascelles in for Digne and Ings. I gained 2 points and AWB didn't play. 😐

Now I have Rashford to deal with. I'm thinking Rondon or is that just last weeks points I'm chasing?

Up until GW9 he was a must I agree

But since then, he's been poor at 3ppg

As a comparison, Duffy not far off that playing for a worse team having missed three fixtures. Those 39% are probably still in the top 10k as they had Doherty for the early hauls but then replaced him with better options after that.

    Fab
    Robbo • Doherty • TAA
    Salah • Son • Pogba • Hazard • Jota
    Rashford • Jimènez

    (Button / Periera / Awb / Kamara)
    2fts & 3.0m

    Son & Rashford ➡️

Almirón & Aguero (if Jesus not fit)
    or
Sterling & A.Barnes (if Jesus is fit)

Think these two are best options for my team as it allows me to have City attack and add another BGW31 player (7 after transfers).

    Thoughts?

Im thinking about Mane + Arnie/Barnes. Plays in 31&33.

City just played 120 mins and are still competing in every competition. Not sure its Worth having Sterling for just two games (I believe he will be rested at least once in the next 3) as it requires two transfers to get him in and out

      1. Karan14
        • 8 Years
        5 years, 2 months ago

I can’t get Mane as I already have 3 Pool.

I agree he might get rest for one but he could even play all as Sane & Mahrez are clearly not first choice and City are in a title race. City don’t have a midweek game next week which is a plus.

Yes it requires 2 transfers but honestly I’m not interested in using that transfer anywhere else for the next 2 gameweeks. Plan is to save FT next week as well so if I don’t use a transfer this week I’ll be forced to next week.

Fatigue will hit Aguero and Sterling eventually. The season is still quite long. But if you already have 3 pool, it might be the right approach regardless

      Pros:
      - Form
      - Fixtures
      - Price
      - Plays GW31
      - 50/50 chance he plays GW33, Since Palace play Watford away in the cup, not an easy match.

      Cons:
      - 50/50 chance he doesn't play GW33

What was his non-FH score going to be?

He had Sterling and Kun in GW24?

Dunno, he has taken loads of hits too, numerous -8s and a couple of -12s...impressive!

If he didn’t change his team and made no transfers between GW24 to 25:

87 points with Pog cap. Same XI as GW24.

If all he had done was captain Kun: extra 12 (19-7) so 99 points.

Plus rolled a FT, plus didn’t use FH.

oh right, didn't check...but 88 points in hits and that rank is impressive!

More proves that it’s been a season to be aggressive so far. His hits have paid off, I’d argue in a normal season they wouldn’t have.

This weekend was one of the first times where hits hurt people.

If he continues his aggressive approach he’ll need to hope that the high point scoring from the early part of the season continues, otherwise he’ll fall away.

            With Kun and Sterling:

Isn’t the best case scenario 90 for the next two, and worst case scenario off the bench and start in the other? Are they really going to come off the bench twice in the next two with a week before WAT?

If you are happy with that in the next two then bring them in.

Hi Guys... what you reckon? 2 FT 0,9 ITB. All chips left.

            Fab, Stek
            Robbo Doherty AWB Bamba Pereira
            Salah Son Pogba Jota Camarasa
            Rash Auba Jim

            a. Get rid of AWB + Bamba for BGW players ie: Evans + Matip
            b. Rash + Auba for Kun + another
            c. Auba + Jota to Kun + another
            d. any other ideas

Rashford out if injured. Wouldn't sell Auba yet personally

Think my plan is to hold a transfer this week and then do Richarlison and Aubameyang to Sterling +Arnie/Rondon.

                GTG for this week?

                Fabianski
                Robbo Doherty Pereira
Salah (C) Mane Pogba Son Richarlison
                Auba(vc) Jimenez

                Steele, Schindler, AWB*, Kamara*

Pretty much yeah. Don't need to plan ahead for a free hit so just waiting for confirmed fixtures.

                Barnes or Rondon for Rashford

Gonna hold AWB since I can field a decent 11
