Pressure on Salah captainers as Lovren returns on Liverpool bench

All eyes turn to Anfield today as Liverpool host Burnley in the noon kick-off.

There will significant attention on Gameweek 30’s most-captained player Mohamed Salah (£13.4m), who has blanked five times in his last six Premier League outings.

With armband rival Sergio Aguero (£11.9m) registering just an assist for Manchester City on Saturday, there is an opportunity for the Egyptian to help his backers make up some ground.

They will be hoping for something like Raheem Sterling‘s (£11.4m) hat-trick against Watford, which has already set the bar for success in Gameweek 30 very high.

Salah will today operate alongside usual attacking colleagues Sadio Mané (£9.8m) and Roberto Firmino (£9.2m).

Adam Lallana (£6.9m) comes into central midfield for a first start since Gameweek 25 to sit between Fabinho (£5.5m) and Georginio Wijnaldum (£5.5m).

Virgil van Dijk (£6.6m) and Joel Matip (£4.9m) are once again the central defensive pairing but there is a welcome return on the bench for Dejan Lovren (£4.9m).

Meanwhile, as expected, it’s Andrew Robertson (£6.9m) and Trent Alexander-Arnold (£5.5m) at full-back.

Burnley have rolled out the usual 4-4-2 formation with the in-form Ashley Barnes (£5.7m) and Chris Wood (£6.2m) hoping to stop Liverpool earning an 18th clean sheet of the season.

Liverpool XI: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Lallana, Mane, Salah, Firmino.

Burnley XI: Heaton; Taylor, Mee, Tarkowski, Bardsley; McNeil, Westwood, Cork, Hendrick; Wood, Barnes.

When you make the right calls, and everything goes wrong.

Pereira and Anderson for the blanks. Worst transfer i ever made.

Holding Son for Southampton or sell for Haz/Mané(-4)? Hold of course.

TAA or Mane? TAA of course. There it goes thar CS with a foul over Allison.

When you make the right calls(on paper), is a difference between luck or not. Nothing else.

        TAA double with Robbo?

        Salah(c)?

Holding Son for South or sell for an hit?

Disagree. They were good calls on paper.

Good process, bad outcome. Loads of people have gone bankrupt with good process and bad outcome - doesn't mean they are crap. It is just randomness in action.

FPL and life in general is very much about luck - all those random things that go for or against you. It can be as small as the colour shirt you are wearing that could change your life. An individual can only control a tiny proportion of what they do.

Disagree. Good results = skill and luck. Bad results = skill and luck.

Luck is just another name for randomness. All those things someone wants to control, but can't. There is a lot of luck in life because you have no or very little control over what other people do.

        Wrong.

You could, as many, double Pool defence with TAA, or go Mane. Either one was a good/right call on paper.

"Luck" decided wich one was the right/wrong for this GW.

Now is easy to say that the right one was going for Mané. Yesterday it was a coin toss.

Pereira was unlucky. Anderson was a tad unlucky but kind of expected at the same time that he could fail. Upgrading to Mane was better.

Holding Son or taking -4? Depends; if you needed to take a -4 next week anyway then you may as well have taken it this week since they both had similar exp points for their respective matches with Mane in better form.

And no, Mane over TAA.... purely because he's one of the only good options for the blank from the midfield.

So I guess it was just bad luck not owning salah gw 17-23 and captaining sterling over that period where he pretty much blanked every gw? Brought in salah to captain last 5 gw’s instead of sterling because didn’t want to be burned again.

Well at least I know I haven’t completely lost the plot thinking sterling could match salah over the season.

Yeah I love how the assumption on it is either:

        Double liverpool defence and salah
        OR
        Salah and Mane.

        No other choices! 😀

I have mane double liverpool defence too by the way.
The mane second goal meant no real change in expected rank.

    Early transfer thoughts:
    Salah/Sterling/Jiménez > Mané (C)/Hazard/Wilson (-8)?

    Would leave me with:
    Alisson
    Robbo - Pereira - Balbuena
Mané - Hazard - Felipe Anderson - Puncheon
    Vardy - Rondón - Wilson

Because Grealish played underage for Ireland then pussyfooted over playing senior for Ireland.
Then Grealish declared for England to add insult to injury.
Similar to the Declan Rice thing except Grealish did not play senior for Ireland.
