Eliteserien Fantasy

Eliteserien Fantasy make changes to player pricing

There have been several changes to Eliteserien Fantasy ahead of the 2019 season.

As we mentioned the other day, the biggest of those is that the powerful ‘Park the Bus’ chip has been replaced.

Coming in for it is the ‘Rich Uncle’ which allows managers to effectively field a Wildcard squad with no financial restrictions in one Gameweek.

Changes to player prices

There have also been changes to player pricing.

Previously the creators of Eliteserien Fantasy have been inspired by the pricing system used in Fantasy Premier League.

This involved the expected top teams having the most expensive players and the lesser clubs having the options at the cheaper end of the scale.

This season the developers have embraced the fact that Eliteserien is a very unpredictable league, and there is often a small gap between the teams at the bottom and top of the division.

As a result, some of the best players in the league (and for Fantasy) have been playing for the lesser side, and have been available pretty cheap.

This term we are finding some expensive players in teams that were almost relegated last year, so we are generally looking at more premium options in 2019.

Stabæk, who had to go through a play-off round to stay in Eliteserien last year, have forwards Ohi at 10,0 and Franck Boli at 9,0.

Strømsgodset, who finished just two points above relegation, have front-men Marcus Pedersen at 10,5 and Mos at 9,5.

Also, Lillestrøm, who finished just three points above the drop zone, have midfielder Arnór Smárason at 9,0.

The last two seasons the premium alternatives were mainly the Rosenborg players, but this time around they are joined by a selection of assets from Molde as well as a few standout options from lesser sides.

There are still some value picks to be found, but most likely there will be fewer than in previous years.

Changes to player positions

The developers of Eliteserien Fantasy have also fixed some of the out-of-position players.

Long-gone are the legendary defender picks like Erik Tønne (6,5) and Gilli Ròlantsson (6,5).

These two are now classified as midfielders (rightly so), and both priced in the mid-price brack.

Sarpsborg’s Amin Askar (5,5) is still available as a defender, although he is more likely to feature at full back than as a winger right now.

More interesting is the fact that some players that were ‘reverse OOP’ last season have been moved to a new position as well.

The most exciting ones is Vålerenga’s Bård Finne (9,5), who was a forward and has been moved down to midfield after mainly featuring as a left winger for last season.

Birk Risa (5,5) is also available as a defender, after playing left-back for most of the 2018 campaign while being classified as a midfielder.

New teams

We will be previewing who the best teams in Eliteserien Fantasy are very soon but for now we can tell you which clubs have left and joined the division for 2019.

IK Start and Sandefjord were the ones who were relegated to the 1. divisjon while Viking FK and Mjøndalen IF were promoted.

Never played before. Excited to give it a go! In terms of setting a goal, I assume there are fewer "casuals" in this game, would that be correct?

      What’s a casual exactly though ?

Oh I'm all here for that discussion and I really dislike the disparaging comments that sometimes come up amongst self-proclaimed non-casuals. I suppose what I actually mean is "what percentage of teams remain active throughout the majority of the season?". A few of my MLs in fpl had fewer than half of the players still active at Christmas, say. Given the nordic reputation for being passionate about (and good at) fantasy football, I was wondering whether that commitment is borne out in this fantasy game.

Quite a few fall away, but their teams can be quite strong and I found myself in a huge battle with dead teams lol

No price prediction websites, no spoon feeding, no bps system to calculate bonus points ... it’s fun 🙂

      Yes and no.

I think there are lots of Norwegians who play and slow down as the season goes. Last year I was in a mini-league with mostly English players and about half of them tailed off and forgot deadlines sometimes.

Thanks for your answer, Geoff. That's interesting. Yeah, this "forgetting deadlines" is a useful metric for the more casually oriented player.
Lots of people cite top 1% of all managers in fpl as a good season (so about 60k nowadays). My impression is that this would be wildly unachievable in a league I have no knowledge of (and very little chance of watching games). Is top half realistic (or overly negative?)?

I think I would have been termed a 'casual' in it.
I made a team and lost interest after a month.

    Azpilicueta?

      He'd be my pick.
Although Bournemouth, and Leicester have the best fixtures for 31/33, so maybe Chilwell?

Already have Pereira and not too keen on bringing in another Leicester defender. Bournemouth however is quite tempting. Ake the best pick?

Not sure on Bournemouth defensive, seems they have a few injuries, if Daniels is playing he's be a good shout. Ake is probably safest, but offers no attacking threat.

Scout Picks Community Champion Lottery – Gameweek 31

Once again, one champion representing the community will take on the Scout Picks this week with a chance to win a prize at the end of the season!

If you want to take part please email your FFS name and FPL ID number to community@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

The champion will be selected at random at 10:00 at least two days before the deadline and then asked to submit their XI by 10:00 the day before the deadline.

This will require 11 picks, fitting into an 83.5m budget. There is no captain in the picks and the community champion must also stick to a designated FPL formation, and also must not include more than three players from a single team. Again, no chips or captaincy will be applied.

At the end of the season the champion who has beaten the Scout Picks by the highest margin will receive a £100 Amazon voucher.

The weekly champion will be revealed in the midweek Scout Squad article, which will outline the Scout’s initial thinking around the choices. Our picks and the champion’s picks will be revealed, as usual, in the Scout Picks article.

Should the community champion fail to provide an appropriate squad, fitting the budget and formation constraints, a caretaker manager will be appointed to take control of the selection to represent the community.

Submit now if you’re interested for to be the Community Champion for Gameweek 31.

    Good luck!

For 31 and 33 defo doing:
Son, Pogba, Rash to Haz, Fraser, Wilson unless major injuries (-8).

    That gives me 10 playing.

    Fab
    VVD TAA Digne
    Haz Salah Fraser Felipe A
    Vardy Wilson

    Do I:
    A) Moutinho to non pool mid (-4)
    B) Jimenez to King/Hig (-4)
    C) VVD/TAA out for Bourne defender so can bring Mane in for Moutinho (-8)

    TAA Ogbonna Bardsley
    Salah Maddison

Eliteserien articles need a separate area on the site (like in the community section last year).

It is frustrating for both fpl managers who are not interested in Eliteserien and FES managers who don’t want 6 fpl comments between each FES comment. Means you can’t have a focussed discussion.

Seriously though just aim for a half team 7/8 players to try and make it easier for you and spread the risk

I can't see GW31 killing you that's for sure. Assuming you already have a few Liverpool players, bringing the likes of Vardy/Wilson in and you are covered.

Hard without seeing your team but there are differentials lurking about in the Leicester,Bournemouth and West Ham squads who still have great fixtures in the run in

The more I think about it would be stupid not to get hazard.
With his high score potential - he only has to get an assist then he gets bonus as well.
I am already pushing the boat out by not having salah.

Tricky but I’d do Rash and Aguero to 2 of: Vardy, Wilson, Higuain.

Then next week get Aguero back and possibly a couple of hits (e.g to get Sterling and Hazard)

Think im gonna go Mane less. Too much hassle in taking out VVD as have triple pool and will regret if VVD ends up hauling. For 31 and 33:

    A) Ake (442)
    B) Madisson (Have Vardy... 352)
    C) King (Have Wilson and Fraser.. 343)

    Pereira - TAA - Yedlin - Luiz
    Salah - Fraser - Tielemans - Mane
    Rondon

Will these nine players suffice for GW31? No West Ham a concern when they've got the best fixture?

    1. TheDragon

      2 months, 9 days ago

No west ham not really a concern - Ideally you’d have Fab/ a defender but they can’t do much damage.

None of their attacking players are great options (Anderson no form, Arnie always a doubt etc).

If I was you I’d either stick or take a -4 to get Vardy or Wilson in (depending who your other strikers are and assuming you have all your chips left)

      1. Jimmy Boy

I'm planning to FH 32 and WC in 34. Very tempted by Vardy and Wilson, however I'm also keen to keep Jimenez (Who I've had since GW1) and Aguero, my two other strikers for beyond my WC.

Have you got much value tied up in Aguero? If not, no reason to keep him, you can still have him on free hit and then wildcard

Problem is, West Ham are probably safe already now.

At home they should be OK, but away from home they’ll probably just be mailing it in now.

Huddersfield are genuinely dire, but I’m always wary of these kind of teams at this time of the season.

This is normally when teams in Cardiff, Fulham and Huddersfield’s positions suddenly look at the number of fixtures left against how many points they have and the penny drops that they actually need to win a bunch of matches in order to even hope to stay up.

Often you suddenly see performances from these teams that you just never saw coming a few weeks previously.

Cardiff look the team most capable of actually beating the equally crappy teams around them. I’d actually rather have Cardiff players than West Ham ones now because they have more to play for.

Huddersfield can’t score, but they can park the bus and stop teams scoring against them and hope to fluke a lucky goal at the other end.

Fulham just genuinely have no frickin clue about defending but they can dent the oppositions clean sheet chances at the other end.

City rotation is going to be evil.
