Aubameyang benched as Lacazette leads the line for Arsenal

Arsenal and Newcastle United meet at the Emirates this evening in the tenth match of 15 in Double Gameweek 32.

This is both clubs’ only fixture in this round of games but Unai Emery and Rafael Benitez’s sides will be in action again next weekend in Blank Gameweek 33.

The headline team news concerns the benching of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who has now only started two of Arsenal’s last six top-flight fixtures (albeit one he missed through illness).

Alexandre Lacazette leads the line for the Gunners and will be supported in attack by Alex Iwobi and Mesut Ozil.

Aaron Ramsey has shaken off a thigh strain to start but there is no place for the injured Granit Xhaka in the match-day squad.

Sead Kolasinac and Ainsley Maitland-Niles will feature at wing-back in what appears to be a 3-4-2-1.

That is also the system that Rafael Benitez has come to favour over the past couple of months and there is only one change to the Magpies’ starting XI from the side that drew 2-2 at Bournemouth in Gameweek 31: Jamaal Lascelles replacing Federico Fernandez.

Fabian Schar misses out through suspension.

Salomon Rondon, who has seven attacking returns in his last nine league starts, leads the line again for the visitors and is supported by Miguel Almiron and Ayoze Perez up front.

Benitez’s side have the fourth-best defensive record away from home this season, having conceded 20 goals in 15 matches.

The Magpies haven’t won on their travels since Gameweek 17, however.

Only Liverpool and Manchester City have scored more home goals than Arsenal (37 in 16 matches) this season.

Lacazette hasn’t failed to register an attacking return in any of Arsenal’s last seven league fixtures at the Emirates.

Arsenal XI: Leno, Maitland-Niles, Sokratis, Mustafi, Monreal, Kolašinac; Ramsey, Guendouzi, Iwobi, Özil, Lacazette.

Newcastle United XI: Dubravka, Yedlin, Lascelles, Lejeune, Dummett, Ritchie, Hayden, Diame, Almiron, Perez, Rondon.

    Anyone bringing in Redmond for the run in? 5.3m, nice fixtures, playing up top.

    Has to be better than Felipe....

      I probably am. I even had him in the beginning of 16/17, and then again 17/18, and I still plan to bring him in. I never learn.

        It’s him or JWP but I’m thinking Redmond, bizarrely. He was never able to shoot, is he looking better in that regard??

          I don't know, I haven't watched beyond the odd edited highlights here and there. The consensus is that he's looking better under Hasenhuttl, but I can't personally vouch for it. He does seem like a more exciting option than JWP though given that he's essentially a forward.

          Last 6 matches

          Redmond - 15 goal attempts, 4 on target.
          JWP - 9 goal attempts, 5 on target.

          Redmond missed all 3 of his big chances. Doesn’t look like much has changed.

            Hmm yes. One thing's for sure though - I'm not getting Hojbjerg. If I wanted a defensive midfielder in my team I'd at least get one on penalties and other set pieces like Milivojevic, and I've never owned him either 😛

              I would get him if savings meant difference between getting a WC player I wanted. Again Hojboj more goals in much less minutes than Flogmond

        Hey Kiwi. JWP seems the obvious one given his form. Is he on all set pieces, do you know?

        Compared JWP, Hoijberg and Redmond and at least positionally, it was no comparison.

            JWP it is. You never know when the 0.2m will come in handy.

            A set piece vs Liverpool wouldn’t be bad 🙂

    Fabianski;
    Robertson, TAA, Pereira, Kolasinac;
    Hazard, Mane, Fraser;
    Vardy, Wilson, Rondon.

    Hamer; Richarlison, Pogba, Doherty. £5.2m itb.

    It looks like I will have no GK to play this week. No WC left. It's not worth to spend FT on GK, right?

            Ohh thanks. What about 2 YC in 2 games? That should be a 3rd match ban?

              Starting this season, yellow cards will only count in the competition they are received. And this has led to the following changes:

              Premier League:
              - One-match ban if five yellow cards received before 19 Premier League fixtures (Dec. 26 round)
              - Further two-match ban if 10 yellow cards received before 32 fixtures (weekend of March 30)
              - Further three-match ban if 15 yellows received (no fixture limit)

              FA Cup and Carabao Cup:
              - One match ban when two yellow cards have been received
              - Cut off point will be the quarterfinals, so no player can miss the final through cumulative yellows

              Red cards remain unchanged and a player would miss the following matches in any competition, so a dismissal in the Carabao Cup could still see a player miss a Premier League match, and vice versa

    Not sure what transfer to do this week, wildcard next week

    Fabianski
    TAA, Robertson, Luiz, Pereira
    Hojbjerb, Salah, Hazard, Fraser
    Wilson, Vardy

    Bench: Taylor + £2.3m itb

    Has to be Fabs, Taylor or Hojbjerg out for someone better. £0.1m off affording Hojbjerg -> Maddison.
    Taylor -> Azpi?
    Fabianski -> Kepa?

    Sums up my season. I end up TC on a single gw player. Aguero 10*3=30 piints. Massive disappointment. It should have been atleast 60. Really unfair and bad luck. Had he not had this minor in njury, he would have played the Cardiff game as well as he had rest during intl break. Terrible.

        Too much investment in a DGW is never a good thing.

        Even if Aguero was 100% fit theres not 100% chance he'd get two games anyway.

        A lot of rotation has hit a lot of people using FH chip this week too.

        I used my TC on Salah at home against Fulham. A game in which he arguably could have got 2+ goals.

        I don't think 30 points from one player on a TC is necessarily a failure.
        All you can do in this game is play the odds as best you can - you cant just expect, because you've played the TC chip in a week which looks like a great chance for max points, for it to just work because you want it to.

        Has he actually been ruled out of the Cardiff yet or is this just what you're assuming?

          Twitter reports he is unlikely to play. Had he been fit, he would have played both games because he had rest during intl break. That's why I TC him.

        there was a massive question mark for me as to whether he'd play both games if fit TBH. given the FA Cup Semi on the w/end and Spurs in the CL next week...

        Just think about those Sane TCers in GW25, mate. Always someone worse off. He's also still a chance to play.

        Happens buddy. And i think you got a pretty decent return. I did TC kun early and he got 2 assists and was subbed before the hour mark even when he was fully fit. So 7*3=21. Had he played the last 30 mins he might have got more. Still happy about it.
