Scoutcast Episode 291 – Panic

Just minutes before the start of the Scoutcast’s live stream on Tuesday evening, the news broke that Harry Kane looks to have sustained a serious ankle injury.

The carefully laid Wildcard plans of Az, Joe, Andy and David were swiftly jettisoned as they spend much of this episode hatching new strategies to cope with the season run-in without the Spurs man.

Amid the chaos, our quartet somehow manages to stick largely to the script as they answer the key community questions on Double Gameweek assets as well as bargain buys and premium options for the rest of the campaign.

Their regular look at the latest whipping boys, who can’t stop conceding, has a seaside special theme this time around, as the crew also consider those teams who are already packing their bags for summer.

Gameweek 33’s rare strong showing from all four of the crew, as well as the community’s smoothest and roughest moves, also get the once over.

However, Joe’s attempt to start a Dean Martin-style sing-a-long in praise of Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucouré falls flat. At least his cat makes a rare appearance to cheer him up and can be seen on the video version at 1:19:58 on this extra-long, panic-fuelled episode.

hanging on to first by a thread in my money league and like others my WC team got thrown into disarray with the Kane injury. I did a quick swap of Aguero for Kane and this is what I have now. Plan for WC in GW34 and DB in double GW35:

    Foster-Ryan
    Kola-Robby-Valery-Duffy-Dank
    Sterling-Son-Eriksen-Jota-JWP
    Aguero-Jimenez-Deeney

have 1.3M ITB after the swap to upgrade. Please help with suggestions

Triple Brighton is too much for me given how bad 35 is for them.

Defence is a bit light and you need a plan on how to get Liverpool attack in for GW36

Some people will go for triple Brighton but I think it’s a bit too short term. If you are going to lose 1 of them then definitely think it should be Dunk. Duffy has much more attacking threat.

Why not Vardy over kun - form and minutes assured

Ditch Ryan - you’ve got dunk and Duffy that’s enough - get a decent keeper for the run in

I’d also get mane/salah/haz over sterling - fixtures aren’t great, too much rotation

Just looking at that Bench Boost 174 score in GW32. **IF** we can nail these WCs there is so much scope to smash a fantastic score during 35. The clues are the there, we just need to roll the dice...

We just need Captain Hindsight to show up haha. Amey's right though in the fix being tougher and Spurs/MCI facing off each other. Wolves and Watford assets I do fancy though, fingers cross on Deulofeu!

    Right different crowd so:

I can’t see sterling starting against palace - not when they play spurs twice again followed by Utd

And I don’t see any of those games where city score a fist full

Therefore I’m at the point where I think I’m going without city

Likewise last time alli and Kane were injured spurs continued to win and son and Eriksen were those that returned

Based on the above I’m considering

Fraser sterling > eriksen VC son C

Sure it’s a risk but one I hope to pay off over the dgw particularly HUD & BRI

    Is this madness?

Current team is somewhat lacking in dgw players no WC

    Ryan fabs
    VvD taa pereira bennett duffy
    Haz pogs Sterling Fraser salah
    Barnes Rondon Wilson

Sterling can also easily play. If Mahrez gets benched, Sane starts on left, sterling right as Bernado injured.

Three of Man City's next four fixtures are away from home.
City have scored 9 goals in their last 5 away fixtures.

Sterlings returns in his last 5 away league fixtures are 3,3,1,1 and 10 (against Hudds) Thats 18 points at an average of 3.6 per game.

Aguero's returns in his last 5 away games are 10 ( Fulham) 2,2,9 and 5 (Hudds)Thats 28 points at an average of 5.6 per game.

How many people are thinking of doubling up on City attack ?

      Definitely getting three City

They're a machine in the league with the biggest upside

3 from Kun, Raheem, KDB, Laporte and Ederson. If you roll the dice and get it right then it's green arrow time

Palace & United Defense is nit great so that stat can change quickly.

I've had Robertson in my team since GW1, but I'm really struggling to justify keeping him over Trent, who's £0.9m cheaper and arguably more attacking (Robertson assist every 277.3 mins, TAA assist every 288.3 mins but has scored a goal and takes free kicks and corners).

I don't see either as being any more of a rotation risk than the other.

I'm a little concerned by that recent benching mid-match. I agree they carry similar threat when on the pitch (arguably more for trent) but with jomez on the way back I'd say trent is a little less nailed. That said, we should all have a good bench for bb (assuming you're doing this) so not a nightmare.

    Afternoon all

I am happy with this team but interested what you think re getting Salah now or going with Sterling until GW36 and then bringing in Salah and Mané

    Lloris
    TAA, Duffy, Dunk
    Salah*, Eriksen, Son, Jota
    Kun, Jimi, Vardy (C)
    (Foster) (JWP, Doherty, Valery)

If I go with team as above then I will probably use FT to do Vardy > Deeney for BB35 and get in Mané for Eriksen in GW36.

    What do you think?

    Cheers

Thoughts on this plan, it would mean committing to transfer ahead of time. As I am BB in GW35, I will have some players with decent GW36 fixtures in my squad (Duffy, Valery, JWP, Deeney, Wolves) to cover other injuries/suspensions picked up.

    GW34 - Vardy (NEW)
    GW35 - Vardy > Lacazette (CRY, wol)
GW36 - Lacazette > Firmino (HUD) (Liverpool triple up with Mane + Robbo)

    Have I solved it?

    Ryan, Foster
    Duffy, TAA, Laporte, Tripper, Valery
    Sterling, Mane, Son, Eriksen, JWP
    Vardy, Deeney, Jimenez

    GW36: Vardy -> Rashford & Eriksen -> Salah (TC)

That’s tempting as that way round I could have Robertson over TAA (which I’d be much happier with).

Trouble is, that Liverpool Huddersfield game, I def want double Liverpool attack and if I’m triple captaining the only person I’d give the arm band to is Salah. Crazy, maybe but he can explode like no other.

There are rotation risks all over my team but that’s just where we are in the season.

It’s between Doherty and trippier for my 5th defender spot

Could save yourself £0.6 or £0.7 if you went Lloris + Dunk/Montoya over Ryan + Tripper, and it also gives you an easy goalkeeping choice after GW35.

I really am not a fan of Dunk though - he has no goal threat - much worse pick than Duffy in my opinion

That's fair enough, but I don't think an extra £0.7m is anything to scoff at. In your shoes, with planning future transfers, I'd definitely take the extra funds so I don't have to be irrational with early transfers and price rises, etc.

It's a great team either way.

Ye left with £2.7m but only place I feel I’m sacrificing is TAA over Robbo.

I don’t see spending extra money would make it better and I really want Salah for 36 ideally without having to sacrifice sterling

          Yeh I hear the argument.

I’ve gone for Kun and Salah for my team (see above) but the choice of Kun vs Sterling is not an easy one and I would do something very similar to yours if I was going Sterling

Yeh I decided Salah was a must for me on WC. The Kun / Sterling question is harder. They’ll both have rotation/ managed mins. Just think Kun’s position is marginally more secure. Sterling has assists though also so quite unsure!

We are clearly thinking along very similar lines looking at your team. It’s just Aguero vs Sterling. I think we are close to nailing it

Obviously it’s a risk but you can’t have them all - it’s aguero or sterling for me and I prefer sterling.

I knkw I definitely want one of Knockaert or Camarassa because I’m a sucker for DGW, I can always transfer one out. Which is the best most nailed option?

    B) Camarassa

    KDB over sterling on WC?
Very worried about Sterling’s minutes after playing full 90

Also, Aguero came off at 70 so are we assuming he is fine to start?

Trying to second guess pep is a dangerous game. I have gone Kun and KDB if that helps though, Aguero simply in another league to Jesus so will be played imo but minutes managed. Sterling, honestly not sure but going KDB purely since he looks like he's getting back to his best and should start at weekend, did well in his last start

If you want to downgrade Robbo to TAA you can dip into Spurs clean sheets with Lloris

And upgrade hojbjerg to JWP if you have the money

Cheers! Dont really fancy Lloris, as I’d rather spend my cash elsewhere than a keeper. JWP is tempting though. But Hojbjergs form and Robbos nailedness is holding me back.
