Sterling stars as De Bruyne jumps back on FPL radars

Raheem Sterling (£11.5m) may have been the top points scorer in Manchester City’s win over Crystal Palace – but he was not the only midfielder to bring in double-figures.

Kevin de Bruyne (£9.7m) put himself right back on the Fantasy Premier League radar with an exceptional performance in time for the end of season run-in.

As we learned yet more about Pep Guardiola’s side at Crystal Palace, this Scout Notes article documents the latest instalment in an ever-changing picture at Manchester City.

Crystal Palace 1-3 Manchester City

Goals: Luka Milivojevic (£6.4m) | Raheem Sterling x2 (£11.5m), Gabriel Jesus (£9.9m)

Assists: James McArthur (£4.8m) | Kevin de Bruyne x2 (£9.7m), Leroy Sané (£9.3m)

Sterling was comfortably Manchester City’s chief goal threat in the 3-1 win at Selhurst Park. No player was afforded more big chances, and he was top of the pile for shots in the box and efforts on target too. That certainly bodes well for future attacking returns, but Sterling will continue to have rotation concerns hanging over him.

Despite playing 90 minutes in each of the last two matches, he was named in the starting line-up against Crystal Palace and completed yet another outing. With Manchester City currently 1-0 down to Tottenham Hotspur after the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final, it seems highly unlikely that he will be left out of the starting XI for the second leg on Wednesday. That would mean five starts in a row for the Englishman ahead of Double Gameweek 35 when they host Spurs again. It will be interesting to see when Guardiola decides to hand him a rest.

At the very least, Sterling seems to be posing more of a threat than Sergio Aguero (£11.7m) who now has just one goal in the last four Gameweeks. Manchester City’s diminutive midfielder is also getting clear of the Argentinian for underlying statistics too, offering better minutes per chance, minutes per chance created and expected goal involvement (xGI) too.

Aguero continues to have his minutes managed by Guardiola too, without a 90-minute appearance since Gameweek 24. Obviously, that has helped him start more matches than most of his colleagues, but in games where he has not looked his best, like this one, it is frustrating for his owners that he does not stay on the pitch for longer. There were suggestions after the match that Guardiola had taken him off because of an injury, although the Manchester City manager has since confirmed that Aguero does not have a knock.

Coming back into the Fantasy conversation after an incredible performance is de Bruyne. He was easily the best player on the pitch at Selhurst, providing two incisive assists for Sterling and Gabriel Jesus (£9.9m). Amazingly, they were his first two of the season, but the fact that he has struggled with injury for much of the campaign it’s not a huge surprise.

Crucially, de Bruyne’s attacking returns against Crystal Palace were in line with the creative potential he has shown in recent matches. In the four outings in the build-up to Double Gameweek 34, the Belgian had created a chance every 18 minutes, so assists were certainly coming. With four efforts on goal at Selhurst Park, only Sterling had more shots than him too. With six starts in the last seven Gameweeks, and potentially a rest against Spurs given his absence on Tuesday night, de Bruyne could be a key Manchester City midfielder to own between now and the end of the season.

“The last three or four games the way (de Bruyne) played was incredible, we missed him a lot. He has the ability and vision to see passes that other human beings are not able to watch. With him around, our paces and passes in front – especially in the final third – are incredible and today he was so committed to defensive work, winning duels and being in that position. And of course, he is fresh mentally in the legs in those situations. That’s why he made not just the two assists that are so important but in all the other situations that we needed him.” – Pep Guardiola

Given that he missed the Champions League quarter-final first leg, it was no surprise to see Leroy Sané (£9.3m) in the starting line-up at Palace. He has worked his way back into consideration for Premier League matches it seems, with starts in both of the last two matches, after just three appearances between Gameweeks 25 and 32. Crucially, he has attacking returns in both of those, a goal against Cardiff and an assist at Selhurst Park.

The fact that he was able to produce a decent attacking performance despite sharing the left-flank with Benjamin Mendy (£6.1m) is worthy of note. The Frenchman was making his first league start since November and enjoyed nothing more than a solid afternoon. There was some overlap with Sané, but it was mainly the German who provided the width down that side of the pitch.

Elsewhere on the injury front, Bernardo Silva (£7.6m) was back in the side overcoming his yellow flag. He was named among the substitutes and came on for David Silva (£8.5m) in the second half. Meanwhile, Fernandinho (£5.3m) missed out with what Guardiola described as a “short-term” injury which could also make him absent for midweek Champions League action. However, Manchester City did not particularly miss the Brazilian with both de Bruyne and Ilkay Gündogan (£5.5m) providing a decent screen for the back-four.

“Yes. (Fernandinho) finished bad against Tottenham. Today he is not fit. It’s short-term.” – Pep Guardiola

Crystal Palace certainly made themselves harder to beat than some were expecting pre-match. They were without James Tomkins (£4.3m) and Mamadou Sakho (£4.9m) and had to field Martin Kelly (£3.9m) and Scott Dan (£4.4m) at centre-back.

The injury problems mounted for the Eagles in the first half when Jeffrey Schlupp (£4.5m) was forced off with a muscle problem. He was replaced by Cheikhou Kouyaté (£4.7m).

The interesting line on Crystal Palace’s attack was that Michy Batshuayi (£6.5m) was benched for Christian Benteke (£6.3m) to get his first start since Gameweek 26. Roy Hodgson explained that he wanted a player who could hold the ball up for his side, which the Belgian did admirably against formidable opponents. The Eagles’ manager also cited Batshuayi’s status as a loan player as a reason for dropping him to the bench, so it will be intriguing to see if that has a prolonged effect on his place in the team as the season winds to a close.

Crystal Palace XI (4-5-1): Guaita; van Aanholt, Dann, Kelly, Wan-Bissaka; Zaha, Schlupp (Kouyaté 22′), Milivojevic, McArthur (Sako 85′), Townsend (Meyer 77′); Benteke.

Manchester City XI (4-2-3-1): Ederson; Mendy, Laporte, Kompany, Walker; Gündogan, de Bruyne; Sané (Stones 87′), D Silva (B Silva 65′), Sterling; Aguero (Jesus 75′).

For me, there are at least two important ways to judge FPL decisions:
    1. Did my decision result in points?
    2. Was my decision one that I can look back on happily, knowing that I decided to do it for reasons that were valid and based on something substantial?

On the first point, my triple Brighton defence was a bad decision because I don't (yet) have points from it; but on the second I'm happy enough with my decision because I know my reasons for picking them were relatively solid, and I would do it again if a similar situation comes up in the future. Sometimes even if I get points I'm not happy with my choice, because I was acting on bias and I realize that if I continue to make decisions that way it won't go well.

So in FPL, for me, it's the second point above that matters, because the first is temporary. Like managers often explain post-match, getting the result is important but playing well is just as important, if not more.

With that in mind, what are your regrets regarding your wildcard?
Are there decisions you made that you think were made because of bias, because you didn't dig into something, or because you didn't trust your own rationale?

Didn't see the mileage in the KDB pick. Avoided Sterling due to the upcoming fixtures and assumed he'd be rotated.

Doherty in my team for the first time this season (had Bennett earlier on).

I'm quite happy with my WC tbh.
Maybe could have avoided Eriksen & gone with mane, now I'd have to spend FT on that move.

Also, © Son was because of fear. Wanted to go with Raz but was afraid of a cameo, Son played a cameo instead 😀

I strongly considered Pogba and kind of wish I wasn't talked out of it. I think I avoided for bad reasons. That said there were strong reasons not to select him so I'm not too disappointed

It was correct decision not have him imo. Owners got lucky with him having two pens.

Selling Liverpool lads was just bad judgement especially them having Cardiff and Hud next

Success and failure bias is an issue for me this season, and hindsight makes it easier for me to have a moan!

I’ve owned sterling only a handful of ones, and this times he’s either been benched or not delivered, so naturally I didn’t consider him for this wildcard (for better or worse).

Same again for Aguero - preciously had success, but is he he best pick? Maybe. Long term will tell

Essentially, I’m a bit reticent to remove players that have previously done well for me, and very dismissive of other options. I guess this question is best answered after next game week, or game week 37

Definitely, and decisions aren't ever clear until well after the decision is made, maybe when the season is done at this point; but I think it's very interesting to look back at decisions from different vantage points.

Maybe Brighton defence looks silly now, but then Duffy could score and keep a CS. Then again looking after GW35. I try not to beat myself up about decisions but at the same time to try to look objectively at my decision making process

I'm not one who regrets shifting Pogba, he was off form and nobody can predict a double penalty goal situation. Fraser and Wilson, granted, was a risk because of the value they offer.

Personally, I wish I'd had a better exit plan if Brighton were that bad - and indeed they were (pre-Cardiff), and I now know why Salah in on wc would have been nice to avoid headaches.

Non WC team = 48 (foster to play). WC team = 47 (Deeney and Duffy captain to play).
Will judge it on the bench boost next week that’s what it was always working towards.
Biggest relief was actually not leaving any points on my bench this week.

I'm regretting having so much invested in Wolves. I've got Doherty, Jota and Jiminez. I thought they were going for a European spot and so still had something to play for. Based on Saturday they are on the beach, and the manager has tended to make changes after especially bad performances, so wouldn't be surprised to see Doherty and/or Jota benched in dgw.

Mixed bag I took out some big scorers (pogba and wilson) but gained some too KDB, sterling and going forward Son and eriksen. We're being too quick to judge a WC a failure after one week let's see how GW35 and the rest of the season I still think my squad is in better shape than before

One huge regret and this dates back a few weeks now as I did okay this week.

I really really wish I had not fallen into the 34/5 WC BB system. There was much more mileage for me in WC around 24/5 and going forward with a stronger team for a decent period of time. WC in 34 seems such a waste of a power chip with so few games to see it work.

ALL the FFS 'experts' must apologise for their consistent wrong suggestions. I believe because its a membership website which cost 10 pounds, you at least have to apologise. What you said and predicted have all gone wrong. Literally everything! This season is shocking. I regret listening to FFS and your bias statistics which doesnt account for so many things.
Eye tests are the best indicator, I will stick to watching MOTD and live matches on TV rather than listening to your scoutcast where most of you are struggling in the overall table anyway

        Wow 😀

Predictions won't always be right but I don't think they've been too far off. And membership gets you access to the stats - calling them bias statistics is strange as all the data is there and available!

To be fair I like eye test a whole lot. It doesn't tell the whole story but it's important for some managers, me very much included. The data gives another view and it's necessary to balance them both I think.

It's interesting to hear you say the Scoutcasters are struggling - I haven't checked recently but I thought they were doing decently fairly well this season

Cmon, just admit this season you are doing really bad compared to others. I understand the stats section, its a great area, but the way some pundits are using this stats when comparing players is wrong. For example, one players can have 10 shots in one game against weak opposition and still there were not dangerous or missed, but in the last average 4 this would account to higher average shots. There were many examples like that.
Having listened to your podscast for some time, this season was a big fail for you, personally I think its because you are relying a lot on stats, and forgetting that mid table teams have swings in their form

Everyone's a genius with hindsight aren't they, the fact is that unexpected and unforeseeable things happened this weekend. Bournemouth being good away and Brighton garbage at home, Wolves rolling over against Southampton, Pogba scoring 2 pens after being crap for 2 months, even Fulham beating Everton.

This is only the first week of the run in, you could easily make those points back next week. One bad week doesn't make them bad picks. Will you still be moaning next week if your team scores well?

Southampton played really well recently and I am a member of a private group where people bet, and I think 100% of people had a bet Southampton 1.5 goals or over, so I think it was predictable.
With Brighton, we all knew they wont keep a clean sheet vs Bournemouth, we were all hoping for a miracle in this game, but its the game vs Cardiff that got us Brigthon defenders, but still I think some of us got 3 brighton players which is shocking. Bournemouth always have swings where they lose 4 and then win 4, so I am not surprised they scored 5. Brightons form is horrble.
With Pogba we should have left him for this game, because we all knew West Ham going to concede at least 2 goals, and they did.
So I think we just went away from the logic, just because we were preparing for an overrated double gameweek where most of your players will be rotated anyways

He says knowing the results. There was plenty of reasons to think the results would go the other way.

Wolves had only conceded more than 2 goals in 3 of their 32 PL games.
Bournemouth had lost 10 of their last 11 away games
Brighton had only conceded 16 in their 15 home games
Pogba hadn't scored in 6 games and United were lucky to win, even Solskjaer thought so

I understand where you are coming from, but in the long-run that would be more beneficial for your fantasy if you consider all factors, not just some stats you bias towards your players. Betting odds in Premier league are always high for each way win in most cases, the are usually even out. Even if Huddersfield plays at home vs Watford, Huddersfield win would be around 3.5 which isnt a massive underdog like you have in Portuguese league for example. But experienced punters like Premier League because it offers value. Average ones avoid premier league, and odds usually even out because fans of the local teams inject money and project the odds of opposing team and vice versa

btw, I know its a bit strange to hear, but Fulham - Everton, between the experienced punters, there was a huge thread that Fulham to win is a great bet. So, I dont know. I think Fulham will be scoring each game from now one and Babel is an option now

I think, in addition to disagreeing about some of the stuff you said above about Pogba, the value of Wolves picks, and Brighton potential, you're thinking about 'a good bet' and 'a good FPL decision' in a way that doesn't really make sense.

Sure, maybe Fulham to win was a good bet, and maybe Southampton was as well; but because betting is based on bookie odds that doesn't necessarily equate to FPL potential. Maybe Fulham to win was a great bet because the odds meant you could make money if they won - that doesn't even need to mean that Everton weren't still favourites to win. Maybe they were, but the point here is that betting is about how much you'll make as a return, which is different from who will score FPL points.

And Southampton being a good bet - that doesn't mean Jimenez, Jota, or Doherty didn't have good potential for FPL returns. Even if they were likely to be scored against Doherty could have had FPL points! He could easily have scored a goal

I disagree. One goes with another. Like Vardy was being discussed for this gameweek more than anyone, but he blanked and for the reason. Leicester to win was a no-go bet this Friday. Under 2 goals was the main bet. Knowing that there would be limited goals probably even none, why bring in Vardy? Why even captain him?

Well I didn't bring him in and I don't know the odds so I won't speak on that. But take a look at his great form, Leicester's form, Newcastle's form, and then the eye test (or data if you want to do it that way).

Vardy was central to lots they were doing and could have scored easily, particularly that time he was in alone and chipped it over the bar.

Just because he didn't get points doesn't mean you can simply say we should have known in advance. See the post by DLL18 above.

Newcastle sat back and frustated Leicester. Same FFScouts were saying it week and week out that Newcastle are way too organised at the back and dont concede a lot. Vardy never had space to score, he had one chance only, yes it was dangerous, but he always needs few chances to score, same old story over the bar shot.
Thats what I am saying, the reasoning this season of FFScouts have been poor. Its was so unlogical to bring Vardy talks. I swear I have hears the scouts talk about Newcastle great defense every week almost and that you should not captain a player when he plays vs Newcastle.

Salty. It's all about sharing informed opinion, and having a laugh ultimately. The site and it's contributing community have never claimed to see around corners and/or predict all future outcome. Too much scope for the unpredictable. You should get over yourself and maybe play a different game or pasttime you may enjoy more like painting your nails.

Got rid of Pogba, Fraser, Wilson and Felipe Anderson on wildcard.
Only really regret the Fraser decision, I was very close to keeping him as he would’ve been the only player I’d kept all season long. Felipe couldn’t score vs Newcastle, Cardiff, Huddersfield or Fulham for me so it’s quite funny, and classic, that he scored at Old Trafford, but I never once considered keeping him. Pogba’s haul was quite lucky in my opinion, but still stings!
There’s no way I regret my WC yet, though, as my team for 35 onwards looks beautiful.

I definitely was biased in keeping Salah and ditching Mane. I thought Salah would have his confidence back as his incredible goal yesterday showed and am hopeful that over the next few weeks that choice will prove more fruitful.

I was also biased in only going for 1 City player in Aguero as, being a Liverpool fan, I don't want to see them do well, particularly during this double gameweek. I've been punished for not having Sterling or KDB this week but again I hope that over time this decision will pay off.

I did have a brief look at Redmond's stats and saw he had been dramatically underperforming his xG over recent games but I went for Ward-Prowse as I like his ability to get assists from set pieces as well as goals. I possibly didn't give this decision enough thought.

On Bournemouth assets I don't think I realised they were playing Fulham at home in gameweek 35 so never really considered them.

All in all it sucks to be on a red arrow with 39 points after my wildcard but I'm hoping some of my decisions bear fruit next week and over the rest of the season 🙂

Just out of curiosity, what was the logic and rationale behind doubling or even tripling up on Brighton's assets? The only thing they had going for them was two double gameweeks, that was it. There was no form at all. We can try and justify our decision making but in the end, we picked a team that had kept 2 clean sheets in 12 games. It was a bad call. I'm humble enough to admit that. And I captained Duffy because I looked at my team and I wasn't sure if any of the players I was fielding would get me anything.

Part of it, for me, is I wasn't expecting so many goals against. Some, but not 5. If Duffy got 2 points in each game I would have been happy.
I wasn't confident enough to pick a captain from the City options, it probably would have been Aguero if I'm honest. And I thought Son would start on the bench. I briefly considered Eriksen but I wasn't confident in that either.

So captaincy so far has been bad but that happens sometimes, 0 is a surprise. Triple isn't a bad call for me still because Ryan was a standout cheap pick. Duffy at 4.4 was low risk, as was Duffy. And it allowed me to spread my cash, and keep 3.3m in the bank to go for Salah for GW36 if I want him 🙂

I’m happy enough with my WC team.

The important thing is my philosophy on playing has been mostly kept.

      1) Go big in midfield, that’s where the top points scorers are.
      2) Go big in defense, that’s where the top value is.
      3) Don’t bring someone in with a view to transferring them straight back out, just go for who you eventually want.

It’s only really the last point where I brought in Duffy/Ryan. I should have just gone for another Spurs/Pool defender.

Nope. With the wealth, depth and breadth of fpl information available I believe my judgements for wc gw34 were sound even though I only posted average points (infuriatingly). E.g. Ryan over Lloris, Brighton triple up, Vardy were understandable. Taking on the chin that Son didn't start. Also wish I had the foresight/clear mind to realise that bandwagoned Erikson would play deeper and chosen Moura. But you can't see around corners, possible Llorente's inclusion (surprise to a few) may have changed the spurs team dynamic.

I honestly thought Moura and Llorente would play but I wasn't confident they'd play in the double as well, or that they'd score well. I was closer to Llorente than Moura but went with the players I thought were more likely to play

      No regrets.

Of my pre wildcard team only Mane, Robertson, Salah and Wilson got points - I kept two of them and brought in the likes of Sterling, Son and Eriksen in the new team. Got a captain still to play and have a flexible set up to get any player in for two moves - current possible plan is Salah and Rashford/Zaha in GWK 36.

I've captained Duffy but I'd do it all again in a heartbeat. Its those moves that make FPL great.

I've enjoyed my double captain hauls of the past from Rooney, Sanchez, Kane and co.

But the one I will always remember is Sessegnon for lowly Sunderland.

For people to go all captain hindsighty and react angrily about such moves displays a lack of understanding of what it is to be an FPL manager playing a game - for that is what it is.

If there's a double gameweek with only rubbish teams I always captain a doubler. So yep, a defender with two home games against on paper easy sides who also has goal threat. Odd one this time around as didn't fancy any of the attackers. But DGWK trumps SGWK even if the defender rule is broken for me.

To be honest I wish I'd broken it before when Laporte hauled for me in two DGWK this season.

Note in previous weeks like this my unlikely captains have included Carlton Cole (WHU) and Sessegnon.

I'm more up for the thrill of two gameweeks than anything else.

I'm with you, and I identify with the thrill of these types of decisions being the essence of the game for many. (Oh, thanks for the honourable mention on your show). My main point is if say another stand-out defender in a relegation fighting team had a dgw involving other relegation threathened teams (home or away) I'd think twice or at least (as the great Walter White once said to me) 'tread lighty' with any course of action. Exact same conditions would you? ...

The whole week I had Pogba and Rashford in a power 5, I thought there were good points to be gained from the West Ham fixture. In the end I went with JWP and Aguero as the power 5 would mean benching Deeney this week and I think he can score against Arsenal. We won't know until after GW35 whether my strategy has paid off.
I'm happy with my KDB over Sterling this week though. I've left 1.8 mil in the bank while I mull over Salah vs Bobby for GW36.

My plan was to go Huddersfield hunting when I had the chance - so Son/Eriksen/Moura went in the WC and I was pretty confident 2 would start and haul. Also with Brighton looming in the double and those home games it seemed right. Just a shame defenders for them are hard to predict and I thought Lloris a waste of an attacking threat. Probably lucky as I may have done Trippier over Moura if nailed.

Also brought in KDB based on likely gametime and his general form coming back.

Brighton defence was actually a bookies decision so I happily put in Duffy (C) and Ryan. The 0-5 was just a freak.

Saw no point chucking Mane and TAA with their fixtures and desperation to win league, the latter looked the pick of the bunch yesterday.

Wolves I'm sure will do better in the DGW home games. Jimmy and Doherty should come good then as I think Foster and Deeney will.

64 points, Duffy (C0 and Ryan to play = no regrets...

I still don't regret bringing in 3x Brighton (Ryan, Dunk and Duffy captain) for this DGW. It was a high risk with potential high reward strategy - and it's only half time. FPL is a game... games are meant to be fun. No-one predicted an awful Bournemouth would score five on the road... no-one could foresee an early straight red for Brighton, no-one thought a team that's been fairly solid at home and defended so resolutely vs City in the FA Cup semi-final last week would capitulate like that the following weekend. I looked at these two fixtures... BOU and CAR... and fancied one clean sheet. That is still the case, I fancy BHA to win 1-0 tomorrow night. And if that happens, I'll probably be looking at 24+ points plus bonuses. I also considered how Bournemouth and Cardiff are two of the worst teams when it comes to defending set pieces and Brighton score a third of their goals from set pieces.

Granted - Saturday was a bad start, but this isn't over yet 🙂

My last draft had 0.0 itb with Pogba C. I was so uncertain of all the captain options that I figured Pogba was the most reliable. On deadline day I started to worry about leaving the money to get Salah back in to TC in 36. So I did Pogba > JWP (To leave exact cash for Vert & Erik > TAA & Salah with 2 FT in 36).

It's a huge regret, I've lost big points already and have a sub optimal BB35 team just for the sake of saving a hit or 2. Lesson learned.

Fairly happy with my WC and agree with your number 2 point above. Not every move will come off. I would never go triple Brighton defence though, I could justify a double up with a keeper but any more than that was far too risky imo. Also wasn't afraid to keep SGWers like Vardy, Mane and get in TAA. Considering Wilson and Firmino over Laca and other doublers this week too.

I have an absolut regret in that I WC'd. The lesson I've learned is that, do not WC for BB. My point is the following: I know this is after-trade talk but my original team of Pogba, VVD, Fraser, Wilson, Salah etc. scored around 100. My current team (despite new acquisitions of Sterling and Captain KDB as a differential) did less than 50 (with 4 still to play). I WC'd so I could BB at DGW35. But I had doubts. We all expect not more than an additional 8 points in a BB; perhaps 10 or 12 but anything more is luck. My alternative strategy that I considered and regretfully not fulfilled was to WC at DGW35, disregard BB, concentrate on the 11, and continue with my same team for GW34. Not that I still believed in Pogba, or thought B'mouth would score 5 against relgation battlers Brighton, but that I would have more knowledge and data for the DGW35. Next season, I will not BB at a DGW; that decision itself limits your strategy and movements. If anything, I will BB after my first WC. That way, I will be a free man for my second WC.

Before I came onto this site I was going to get KDB with Sterling. I should have listened to myself.
Same feeling as you with Brighton assets but I captained Duffy. seemed sensible with 2 home matches and an attacking threat.
Mover from Trippier to Alders. Made no difference in the end.
I kept Vardy for that juicy gameweek. Now it costs me to move him.

Fairly happy with my wc. Put a lot of time into it and several combinations of players were tried, and i left some money so i can get Firmino in Gw36, but also the flexibility to get Salah if i want. I have to admit i went for Sterling over Kun, and that was close. in hindsight and not because of injury i should have just gone yoshida and not valery. I will only use Saints def in 35 and maybe 38, so picking a wing back in a double is trouble-)

If i regret anything it might be Robertson over VvD (whom i owned from the start), hopefully more fun to own Robbo vs those bad teams, he will play as a wide forward!

Trippier is my only regret, originally I had triple Liverpool defence but decided I wanted the flexibility to get Mane in for week 36 so I swapped out Van Dijk at the last minute.
I scored much lower than my original team would have but the WC is to set my team up for the rest of the season and I'm happy with how it looks overall.

First i'll judge my WC around GW37. Lot of points on offer until then,

second i took out Wilson, Fraser and Pogba. With their form (and i watched Bournemouth last week and they were dreadful) i'd have been looking to move them on if it was just FTs and not WC.

third only went double Brighton and didn't captain either. Clean sheet against cardiff and it's still a decent move. Probably be moving at least 1 if they are poor vs. Cardiff. Shouldn't think anybody saw Brighton conceding that many at home to any team let alone Bournemouth

Played wc 33 dumping brooks, fraser, wilson, pogba, salah, robbo and TAA so pretty depressed, despite the reasons for doing it still remaining solid.

Only redeeming feature on wc (triple BHA def) is Moura and KDB so I've pretty much managed to at least keep pace with the non wc teams this week

Opted for Mane/Sterling/Firmino over Aguero/Salah/Doucoure which paid off. Thought was to spread £ over 3 premium options rather than 2 which I feel is valid/reasoned.

Regret is not considering Firmino/Vardy > Deeney/Aguero as I was too concerned about covering Salah with the other 2 Liverpool attackers. Seems obvious now, but I was blinkered by my A vs B choice.

I fear Aguero & Deeney next week and I'm considering a -4 to get them in.

Regrets, trading Pogba, Fraser, and Wilson for Son, Jota, and Rashford. Secondly, as a Burnley fan, and seeing how bad Bournemouth were last week, I should have foreseen the Eddie Howe reaction, and subsequent backlash.

Didn’t check the injury reports right at the deadline. So now I have Holebas to deal with, in addition to the unplanned Deeney transfer.

And while I also still think the Brighton triple up was not a mistake (I’m in second place in my ML and needed a differential to pick up points), I am upset it has failed so spectacularly so far.

Anyone triple captaining Mane over Salah in 36?

My situation is that I could get Salah in 2 moves if I lost Aguero, 3 if I lose Eriksen/Jota etc. Or just double up in defence and captain Mane with 1 transfer.

If Liverpool qualify for CL semi (very likely) they will play Barcelona or Utd 4 days after GW36 (Cardiff Away). We’re therefore gambling the TC chip on a Liverpool mid that will most likely have reduced minutes

Yes but people also loaded up their teams with Wolves and Brighton players, teams that looked dreadful this weekend and probably won't pick up many points from here on out if they keep playing like that. The Spurs game was also disappointing as this fixture was most people's main reason to bring in players like Son, Trippier and Eriksen.

Wolves could definitely go that way, and I understand they have previous from last year, but I think they'll keep up some pretty midtable form. I'm hoping this is the one game where they wallow. I think having a game against a top six team in the double is good because they'll be up for it and hopefully that will spark off some fight and then they have the opportunity to somewhat avenge that Watford loss in 36.

    Morning all

With this team currently set up for BB GW35, if Valery is fit, I think my options are:
    A) Save FT to have 2FT for GW36 and get in Mané/ Firmino for LIV triple up
    B) JWP > Redmond / Brooks (FT)
    C) JWP, Duffy > Brooks, Kolas (-4)

    0.4itb
    Foster
    Robbo, Laporte, Doherty
    Salah, Eriksen, Son, Jota
    Kun, Jimi, Deeney
    (Lloris) (JWP*, Duffy*, Valery)

Really hoping BB will make up for the flat disappointment of this WC!

    Cheers

would not be ditching a Dgw in JWP for Brooks. Kolas has to play again on Thursday and tbh can't see him playing in both dgw games. JWP to Redmond not worth a FT imo, both are a punt so stick with your original punt.

Managers Thoughts on what to do with this non-WC team:

    Boruc

    TAA, VVD, Chilwell
    Mane, Son, Eriksen, Pogba
    Vardy, Lacazette, Arnie

    Guatia, Brooks, Rice, Clyne

Thoughts on these moves for -8?

Alisson + speroni + chilwell to Ederson + foster + laporte

The main reason I'm considering selling alisson is to free up 1 liverpool asset to get salah/mane as I have 3x liverpool defender atm

    BB:
    Alisson* speroni*
    TAA robbo chilwell* bednarek jonny
    Sterling moura eriksen son fraser
    Vardy jimenez wilson

I get what you are trying to do but I personally wouldn't be bringing in 2x MCI defenders for hits. They are not immune to leaking goals and they are up against some major goal-scoring teams. I would rather drop just Alisson to Foster and bank cash to use in GW36 to get in Salah/ Mané or Alisson, Chilwell > Foster, Laporte

Just can't get a thing right at the moment. Played WC and have 39 points from the below team. Still 3 to play.

    Lloris (Foster)
    Robbo Dunk Duffy (Laporte Doherty)
    Salah Son Eriksen Jota (JWP)
    Aguero Jimenez Deeney

Rivals have used all their chips yet have 70-80 points so far this week with the likes of Pogba Wilson Fraser burning me. They're catching me fast in our ML too. Squeaky bum time.

Still right with the following plan?
    GW35 Dunk --> So'ton DF and BB
GW36 Eriksen --> Mane and TC

Dont see any upside with that move really, just a waste of a FT imo

      1. Legend of Rosický
        10 days, 3 hours ago

I am thinking the same. It will be a move purely for the double, no long term benefit, and may cause a -4 hit in 36

yeah thats the thing 2ft can be more useful and dont see cathcart outscoring dunk with 4 points

Trouble is - with say Holebas - you have a spread of potential points, whereas say Mariappa is just a 2 or 6pt type. Cathcart does admittedly get the odd goal. Right now, I'd look at the fixtures and say, Dunk would get 3pts and Cathcart 8 in all likelihood.

Strong disagree. Cathcart looks most nailed for two good fixtures and dunk could easily get 0-1 points total from his games. I am thinking of Duffy to Watford def this week.

        1. Legend of Rosický
          10 days, 2 hours ago

I could do duffy > Cathcart and get the valuable 0.2 itb I need for Doh > TAA next week. And dunk could warm the bench for the rest of the season. This would save the -4

That all looks good to me. I'd go for it. Duffy has hos theoretical goal threat but I don't see that being relevant against spurs and wolves. Good luck

I don't. Defence currently looks like this

        Lloris Gunn
        Robbo Doherty Duffy Dunk Valery

You're going for pool Defense double up in 36 ??
Which attacker you have from pool atm ??
I have taa robbo Bobby but thinking about moving on taa to get Mane

I have Salah, Will most likely TC.
TAA looks like he is in the form of his life, and his assist potential is huge, unlucky not t get one yesterday. I think he can get with at least 80% of Mane's points which is a steal for the price

Anyone think holebas is worth a punt if declared fit for this week? Even if he only gets the Huddersfield game that would be fine by me.

If he's out is there somebody who will definitely play both/be filling in for him. Already have foster but want to double.

With Kane now injured, and no Liverpool attackers, I'm struggling to find a good TC option.
BB35 so rules out the doubles.

Sterling/Aguero against Brighton in 38 probably the front runner now, anyone else struggling to find a stand out TC?

    1. For the throne
      • Fantasy Football Scout Member

I'd try get Mane/Salah/Firmino and TC him in gw36.

    2. Lemongrab
      • 9 Years

Yeah I was all set on Kane Vs Hudd and now scrabbling around for options. Possibly Salah Vs Huddersfield but see above post, possible rotation concerns.

      1. HamezMace
        • 4 Years
        10 days, 2 hours ago

I'm concerned about rotation for all teams, that's why I'm leaning on saving my TC until GW38, and seeing who needs what...if the title is on the line on the last day, no way Aguero/Sterling/Mane/Salah don't play 90 minutes.
Likewise, possible United or Arsenal will need something from GW38 for top 4, so Auba, or Rashford could be useful against weaker, possibly already relegated teams?

        1. Lemongrab
          • 9 Years
          10 days, 2 hours ago

Arsenal away at Burnley is a banana skin tho. Rashford at home Vs a relegated Cardiff could be a good shout.

    3. Amey
      10 days, 2 hours ago

IF Your bench is not very good, you can do TC gw 35, BB in gw 36.
All the template players have great fixtures in gw 36 anyway

      1. HamezMace
        • 4 Years
        10 days, 2 hours ago

Will BB in 35 for sure. I have 14 DGWers +Camarasa.

As above, I'm thinking GW38 might be safer due to less likely rotation issues.
I'm concerned with the CL still in full swing players like Salah/Mane/Aguero might see reduced minutes, in these easier games.

        1. Amey
          10 days, 2 hours ago

          Could be easily possible.
