Pre-Season

Premier League pre-season friendlies: a day-by-day fixture guide

Pre-season is well underway and over half of the teams in the Premier League have already been in action over the last week.

Our ‘Pre-Season’ tab provides a comprehensive team-by-team guide to all 20 clubs, detailing the dates of their fixtures as well as the minutes played, goalscorers and assist-makers in each of the games.

For who those who prefer a chronological calendar of this summer’s friendlies, we have put together a date-by-date version in the article below.

Some teams are scheduled to be in action twice on the same day, so any ‘fixture clash’ you may spot is not (necessarily) a mistake.

We’ll have more Scout Notes for you over the coming days and beyond as we bring to light any stand-out team selections, injury updates and talking points from the various pre-season games.

Our pre-season minutes spreadsheet has been updated in the meantime:

    RMT please guys, latest draft:

    Fab/ 4.0
    TAA, Robbo, Zincencko, Laporte, AWB
Salah, B Silva, Jorginiho, Dendoncker, Hayden
    Kane, Jimi, Giroud

Weak in midfield, I know, but I don’t see myself rotating Salah, Silva or any of the strikers

Almost an entirely set and forget team.

AWB - not until utd show us they’ve improved defensively.
Shocking midfield and that’s where the value/points are (along with defence of course).
Don’t like jimi, surely europa has an effect on them, mix that with their bad fixtures and I think it’s enough to look elsewhere.

      King - penalties, fixtures
Deulofeu changed position so he will potentially get fewer points than last season for the same

Deulofeu for me. Creates more chances, gets more more assists. Deeny is the perfect foil for him.

King suffers statistically with Wilson in the team. His best returns last season were when Wilson was out.

    Hello,

    Any thoughts? Any feedback appreciated.

    Ederson - Button
    Robo - TAA - Digne - Dunk - Diop
Salah - De Bruyne - Fraser - Sigurdsson - Kante
    Jimenez - King - Jansen

    Dunk Diop for rotation
    Jansen as bench fodder
Ederson, Robo, TAA, Digne set and forget
Missing Sterling, but will watch De Bruyne pre-season how it goes and update if needed

    1. How I met your Mata
      • 8 Years
      4 years, 9 months ago

Is Jansen 4.5? If not you may as well downagrade him to one...what formation are you planning on playing regularly?? I think Kante will play deeper this year so think there’s better 5m about

      1. droben

Jansen is 4.5 - not sure if there is a better option for 4.5 forward, but will be on the last position on the bench anyway.

Formation - really good question, the plan is to change it based on the round based on oppositions

        3-5-2
        4-4-2
        4-5-1

        thank you for your feedback!!!

I’m looking at the keepers as you can easily change a defender later. All good value imo and my top 3 keepers. Fab just releases more money upfield.

    Lost on previous article;

Loving the balance of this. Haven't been able to bring myself to change it for a while now.

    Thoughts?

    Lloris (Button)

    TAA, VVD, Walker, Coleman (Kelly)

    Salah, Sterling, Zaha, Perez (Dendoncker)

    Wilson, Deulofeu (Greenwood)

Toying with the possibility of rotating Dunk with Taylor(bur) or Target, in place of Coleman & Kelly, with either .5 itb or lloris to ederson.

May not agree on some mids attacking pick and Zaha maybe only available GW 2
However yes this is very close to ideal balance so much show it looks over 100.
I spend just a little bit more in defence and end up 451 but tbf this is really nice spread of funds.

Thoughts on Grant Hanley as our 4.0 bench fodder. Norwich’s other three centre backs are injured and he is club captain. He is one of few players in that team with previous premier league experience so surely he plays?

Both for regular attacking returns and baps.

VVD and Laporte shone in the long run in last time of course but that I’m theorising was a function in part of the run in where both City and Liverpool tightened up somewhat.

Currently yeah because it enables a front line of Wilson and Kane. I have my doubts though, especially because KDB is back fit. My hope would be that Sterling plays on the left, Bilva on the right, KDB and someone like Gundogan in the double pivot with Fernandinho in behind. I noticed he played a lot of fullgames towards the end of last season so hopefully Pep trusts him more. But they've got Mahrez and Sane competing for places too. It's hard to know

    Fraser or Wilson.
As long as I cant trust both of the the armband and I think they will offer the same anoint of points then I will go with the cheaper. Also a bit of an alternative

    1. SAY MY NAME

I'm going fraser and king to start for the nice run of fixtures, if it's not working out will likely dump fraser of the two as I don't see as many options to replace king - Wilson had a great season but can be injury prone and I think King won't be too far behind on points, prefer to have the extra funds in mid/def

      in answer: Fraser

never been convinced by Deulofeu but he seems very popular on here, he smashed it in a few games last season which inflated his points (and would prob have less points if listed a s a fwd) , not to say he isn't a good player, he is more explosive than King but maybe not as consistent, depends what you're looking for in your team and if you want to spread the risk between teams rather than doubling on BOU

Also Deulo doesn't seem a certain starter, at least not 100%, and has a quite tricky fixture run to start, so for me I'd go King, but I could always be missing something

united is a wait and see for me, if they look back on track then there are a few potentially viable fpl options, but I won't be starting with any

if Maguire is nailed and united keep clean sheets I can see him being an option, but I honestly think united are a distance from being where they need to be as a team, not sure they know how they want to play

Easy A for me just make sure Deul is nailed
Having said that I don't like any formation with only 3 in the middle.
Probably go Deul to a 6.5 mid - lots more choice in this category and epecially for one to emerge so might just save you a transfer down the line.

    TAA | VVD | Holding
    Sterling | Richarlison | Eriksen | Barkley
    Aubameyang | Vardy | Origi

    Button | JOC | Dendoncker | Kelly

No Salah the big difference. I think Firmino/Mane/Salah will be given some rest through rotation at the start of the year as they have basically played a 2 seasons without rest.

Making Origi a great cheap differential option early on.

Would love to hear you thoughts on the team and going without Salah.

Yeah it’s a bit different and could easily see me at either ends of the ranks real quick.

        It basically came down to

      1. Salah will most probably start the season so not having him vs Norwich is very risky.

      2. Holding is not nailed on yet although it is a good potential punt.

      3. Eriksen is a good differential punt and so is Barkley (if he is a starter)

      4. Attack looks good

Overall, there are too many punts and risks in this team. I would try to reduce that especially since you don't have Salah.

      1. Little fekirs
        • 5 Years
        4 years, 9 months ago

        Thanks for the response.

Holding can change to any other 4.5s of needed and I don’t see Eriksen is a punt, he’s scored at least 160 points the last 5 years, on set pieces and is one of the safer options available.

I think Salah will start GW 1 but will be rested/come of the bench at least once in the opening 4GW’s. He could obviously score a brace first up.

        It comes down to:
        Eriksen, Aubameyang, Origi
        V
        Salah, King, Deul

I’m backing the first option to out score the second which is really what matters not just how much Salah scores.
