FanTeam

€250,000 in prizes up for grabs with FanTeam this season

Fantasy Football Scout are delighted to announce our partnership with FanTeam for the 2019/20 season.

This year they are offering €250,000 in prizes for their Premier League cash game for an entry fee of €25.

First place will take home €50,000 and finishing in the world’s top 20 will trigger a payout of at least €1,500 – and that’s not all.

FanTeam are also offering additional weekly and monthly prizes to sweeten the deal.

Experienced Fantasy managers should be very excited about this cash league as FanTeam‘s game is very similar to FPL.

That includes the pricing structure, with only minor differences between the cost of assets from FPL to FanTeam.

Prize Structure

The €250,000 prize pot is spread among the top 15%, which gives even non-professional players a good chance to recover their buy-in fee.

That first prize of €50,000 is hugely appealing and it is certainly a realistic aim for members of our community.

The entry for this competition is capped at 12,000 which greatly increases your chances of winning compared to FPL, for example.

This all translates into the following prize structure:

Prize Structure Main Event

Additional Side-Events

FanTeam also offers additional chances to win prizes on a weekly and monthly basis.

That means even if you fall behind on the overall tournament, you can still win big by putting in decent short-term performances.

A manager of the month award will earn the winner €1,000 and securing a manager of the Gameweek award will land you €250.

FanTeam’s 2019/20 PL Rules

As previously stated, the rules are very similar to what FPL managers will be used to, with only minor changes.

First, the scoring system has no bonus points built into it.

Instead, an ‘impact’ factor is applied, which awards players with a negative or positive point, depending on whether his team was winning or losing with him on the pitch.

Secondly, FanTeam has no chips. as they prefer to keep things simpler.

However, they do offer two Wildcards, which can be used to change the entire team.

Thirdly, price changes on FanTeam appear at more random times than we might be used to with FPL.

They will appear when a dramatic increase or decrease in demand occurs.

This is slightly different to the fixed time frames for price changes on the regular FPL.

Fourthly, unlike FPL, there is no tax applied on a price increase when you sell a player.

This means that if a player is worth 7.0m and increases to 7.5m, then 7.5m is the amount you would receive by selling this player.

In short, selling and buying prices are identical through the season.

If player A is worth 7.0m and increases to 7.3, then 7.3 is the amount both to sell and buy this player.

Looking ahead

If you enjoy official FPL, but want the chance to win a bit of money down the road, FanTeam is a game you should try out.

One of the best aspects of it is that you can largely copy your FPL team and play it on FanTeam, since the prices and the design of the game are so similar, meaning it does not take much management.

We at Scout are already enjoying FanTeam’s website and can’t wait for the season to start.

While are focus remains on the mainstream FPL game, we will have more FanTeam content between now and the start of Gameweek 1.

Rate you top 5 defences in the league purely in terms of CS potential?

Guessing Pool and City the top 2, who follows them?

August is statistically good for clean sheets, they tend to be less in September when Champions League/Europa league starts. If I was picking 3 teams for just August I would go with Liverpool, Everton and Watford.

Put in Cathcart today along with Coleman/VVD/TAA. The Goodison fixture was offputting (plus the DGW scarring), but worth a go all factors considered.

On another note, Dawson could play RB perhaps?

yeah I've currently got Cathcart too. Everton away could be a tricky one to start him but I might just go with it.

Aye. Atm I've got Rico as the 4 so if he claims the spot, which I think he may **just** squeeze then he could also be played. All variables considered, a worthwhile compromise.

    My wildcard GW3 team atm:

    Leno,
    Coleman, Trent, VVD, Taylor
    Lucas, Salah, Sterling, Norwood
    King, Aubameyang

Trying to squeeze in three premiums while still keeping double Liverpool defence. I've noticed that most who are going with this strategy are leaving out Sterling. It makes sense but he can severely punish you.. even with those fixtures. How do you think it looks?

    1. TheDragon
      • 6 Years

Dude the whole point of WC that early is if you get your initial
Team ‘wrong’ and need to correct to the bandwagons / emerging template - you can’t plan it before the season!

Focus on your GW1 team, hope you nail it and don’t have to WC GW3

      1. No Professionals
        • 6 Years
        4 years, 9 months ago

This. The mini wildcard should be enough to sort your team. If you're planning a gw wildcard now, with players you'd put in, just put them in now. Or get a 2 to 3 transfer plan to move them in.

      2. SADIO SANÉ
        • 8 Years
        4 years, 9 months ago

kind of yeah, but you can plan for it - players like Moura (maybe Sane) KWP AMN Auba Laca Origi could all be really good (and effectively underpriced) for 2 GWs but then be turd after that - it's not a bad strategy

        1. TheDragon
          • 6 Years
          4 years, 9 months ago

Seems to me a huge waste to set your starting team up for 2 weeks knowing it’s no good for GW3 onwards. You increase your expected points for the first 2 game weeks slightly at the cost of losing your wildcard and the implied value that has later in the season

          1. SADIO SANÉ
            • 8 Years
            4 years, 9 months ago

does depend what happens, but lineups will be clearer by then at least - I can see why people are thinking about it. Spurs/Chelsea/United lineups are slightly unclear at the moment but there are some potentially well priced players on all 3 teams - Salah/Mane, Sterling, Son is also a nice trio for captaincy and all have nice fixtures from that point on

        2. No Professionals
          • 6 Years
          4 years, 9 months ago

Too short term to blow a wildcard on though.

The longer you can keep you first wildcard, the longer you can keep the second.

Odd comment - obviously it’s his team he can do what he wants.

He could also take a -40 each week if he wants. Is it +EV? No. Obviously I’m replying as to whether it’s a wise strategy from an expected points perspective

I'm with you. Planning a wk 3 wildcard is stupid. Most things on FF are a matter of opinion. Not this. Playing your wildcard in gw 3 cus you got it wrong is different though.

              • 8 Years
              4 years, 9 months ago

it isn't stupid, and if it is then setting your team up for 8 weeks+ and then WCing in GW3 when it 'goes wrong' is more stupid

                • 6 Years
                4 years, 9 months ago

                Why is it more stupid?

You end up in the same place but at least you tried to hold on to the most valuable chip.

After 2 weeks teams arent settled, you'll fall in to traps.

                1. SADIO SANÉ

                  4 years, 9 months ago

because you would be wildcarding the team you thought was good after only 2 weeks ... if Salah and Sterling blank in the first two weeks and Kane/Aguero score a hat-trick each does that suddenly make Salah and Sterling bad picks? I'm not saying you'd definitely wildcard in that situation but a bad start doesn't necessarily mean you have a bad team, especially if you set it up with long term good PPM players like Fraser/Siggy/Wilson/Vardy or whatever. I can definitely see where you're coming from but there are plenty of other ways to use the chips, and this one is valid imo.

your approach is fine, I'd personally think about making it more punty (Origi, KWP, maybe even Sane if Aguero looks like he might miss the first one, Ozil is proper punty, Laca etc.) - the GW3WC means you can take a risk on players that others won't

Sorry, it appears that I'm the dummy and everybody else's reading comprehension is fine haha. That's my GW1 team in my original post and I'm wildcarding GW3. I guess I worded it badly.

I plan on loading up on City attack in GW3 because they have a block of really nice fixtures. Chelsea also have decent fixtures and hopefully by GW2/GW3 we will have a better idea of their starting 11. Same goes for United & Leicester. I'll also being going Salah-less so lots of changes needed. i.e. Wildcard

Thing is, the obvious criteria for choosing between your 2 is most likely to get clean sheet. But the lower end GK maybe don't get most of their points from clean sheets,so liable to choose wrong one. That's what I found with Foster and Patricio.

Updated draft- feels safer to go Laporte set and forget than Zinc. Thoughts on this as starting squad? Fraser can become Martial/ Chelsea/Anderson after first couple of fixtures and Wilson to nailed Chelsea striker/Haller

    Pope
    TAA Van Dijk Laporte Digne
    Salah Sterling Fraser Pérez
    Wilson Wesley

    Woodman Dendoncker Greenwood Lundstram

Very close call. To be honest Van Dijk TAA always been choice of defenders. Gut telling me VVD going to be even better this season and will grab more goals from set pieces. Hopefully from TAA free kick or corner. Laporte and Van Dijk just seem the most solid pairing you could choose for defence and bonus points for both should come rolling in.

Is Kane or no Kane the key GW1 decision (assuming you are going with Sterling and Salah)?

It will define your team structure in terms of ££, he is very explosive so will cause large points swings either way (ie hattrick vs blank) and thus getting this right/ wrong could be the difference between having to wild card early or not.

    Tough decision!

If going with Salah and Sterling then you can't also have Kane as makes the rest of the squad look crap. I think assuming most have Salah this only leaves room for one more premium attacker so It's a straight choice between Kane or Sterling then.

        Not so

You can put together a very decent squad with maybe just one hole. If you accept all 3 is a short term play then there should be an easy double move or mini WC to plug that. This assumes looking at likely moves a few weeks down the line and having a mix of price points

United forward Anthony Martial looks a player reborn on this trip.

From being a player who some suspected would not respond to Solskjaer's harder pre-season training regime, the France international has been electric at times.

With Romelu Lukaku's intended move to Inter Milan dragging on, leaving the Belgian in limbo and not playing, Martial and Marcus Rashford have filled the central striking role.

    Ederson
    TAA VVD Laporte Coleman
    Salah Sterling Martial Perez
    King Jota

Diogo Jota looks to have picked up where he left off last season. On here, people overthink things, 'he's got tough fixtures' or 'Wolves have a fixture pile up'. Sometimes you just have to go with the form players, especially when he performs better against the bigger teams.

After recent advice I now have a dilemma! Go With Kane or Without Kane. Here's the teams which should I go with A or B?

    A-With Kane
    Ryan
    Coleman TAA AWB
    Dendonker Siggy Sterling Salah Perez
    King Kane

    Button/Diop/Lundstram/Greenwood

    B-Without Kane
    Ryan
    TAA Digne Walker
    Perez Martial Salah Sterling Siggy
    King Deulofeu

    Button/AWB/Diop/Greenwood

      In those examples, with kane.

Seeing the word "martial" was enough to put me off team 2
