There were only 4 teams that scored less than Everton over the second half of last season. Just putting it out there...

When they did score Digne was involved.

The new azpi in my mind.

How have you come to that conclusion?

I make it 1 goal and 2 assists for Digne in 2019. Everton scored a lot more than that, which kinda suggests he wasn't involved that much?

He has a threat from set pieces and after some time in the league is better placed to push on. He’s a dangerous attacking full back, and that’s my favourite type of defender.

It's going to be interesting when people start to look at their decision to spend 6m on an Everton defender when city/liverpool defenders are around the same price

True. then again if Richarlison starts on fire before conking out, they might get a few early doors.

That is a counter argument to those who own Digne and that they aren't reliant on clean sheets

Yep, clean sheets are the staple of any defender. Even TAA/Robertson.

It's genuinely very surprising the vast majority of teams were in terms of goalscoring over the second half of the season - 11 teams scored between 25 and 29 goals. This was quite different to season before where it was much more polarised over the second half of the season.

This, and it's from 28th December as that's when the second half of games started so you play everyone once from that point (a fair a time period fixture wise as any taking just a sample, not withstanding some easier/harder home/away fixtures)

For me it’s a sofa hiding during any top 6 vs Liverpool game. The club score goals. The defence is amazing, one goal and it could be 6 pointer from 20m of players.

Trying to think over the course of a season and if the defense continues to deliver I just can’t seem to justify the extra cash for an extra 50 or so points from salah..

I finally feel like I've hit the perfect draft guys, covering all basis in a 4-5-1. Don't think I will change much now until the start of the season. Maybe only shifting siggy out for richarlson. Or Zich out for coleman/walker. (if I go for walker then I'd do robbo --> VVD)
So easy this season to make a great team 😉 feel free to copy

    Ryan
    Robbo / TAA / Digne / Zich
    Salah / Sterling / Siggy / Fraser / Perez
    King
    (bench fodder)

would love to get wilson in if possible. But I feel like fraser/king offer good coverage and will rack up the points. Don't want to lose digne, think we will be essential this season

Based on last season (or at least the second half) VVD is as good as Robbo and Coleman as good as Digne - Wilson is miles better than King too - but it could easily go in your favour!

True, what are some other ways I could get Wilson in. Don't really wanna drop perez. I could do robbo --> VVD, Digne --> coleman and fraser --> zaha

    Thoughts? 🙂

    Pope - Button

    TAA - VVD - Zinchenko - Digne - A Smith

    Sterling - Salah - Fraser - Tielemans - Dendoncker

    Wesley - Wilson - Greenwood

    - I will play Adam Smith gw1 when Wesley plays spurs away, then will be kept on bench.
    - I have £0.5m its in case Wesley flops so I can get a £6.5m striker in.

    1. Karan14

Great team. I have almost exactly the same setup.

Im starting Wesley in GW1 and using that 0.5m saved from getting a 4.0m defender to upgrade VVD to Robbo.

      Not obvious yet.

Lundstram getting preseason minutes in midfield, but SHU fans don't think he'll start once the PL begins.(same story with Handley)

Rico - differing reports, but some suggest he could play more than last year.

Both goalie are the best choices in their respective price. And yes, I am afraid Pep will rotate Kun and Jesus heavily this season, but considering Jesus is still resting after Copa America and Kane might have his usual August drought

If Moura had two good fixtures, I would be tempted. As it is, with just the one, it feels like an unnecessary gamble when Fraser with two great opening fixtures is available at the same price.

I don't expect it sure, but even 30 mins off the bench against that turd is decent - it's not the same but I took Moura out at the same point last season and got a -2 instead of a 15-point haul or whatever it was vs United

Right, first team post. My main issue is I have one too many 4.5 players.

    Ederson Button
    VVD Robbo Laporte Digne Simpson
    Salah Sterling Tielmans Stephens Dendonker
    Wilson Jimenez Nketiah

    I need some help.

        Booo.
The charity game we're playing on Sunday is next to Rupert road. The plan is to take a little sign saying The Horse and hang it up.

Good work, good luck with the game.

...in seriousness, playing a 4.5m in midfield without having a premium striker, isn't good enough.

Can only see Ederson and or Laporte to downgrade to enable you to upgrade 1 or more £4.5s?

Yes I was looking at downgrading Laporte but I'm just struggling to find any value in the 6.5 area.

Except Jimi it is but I didnt bother saying it because I knew some standard "remove non-template for template" commenter would do it for me. As below.

Would downgrade Laporte personally and upgrade Stephens to someone else. Jimenez can also be downgraded.

Ederson to Pope or Laporte to 5-5.5 defender, and Jimenez to Jota...then you have funds to upgrade Stephens and a very strong team. And the template.

I've done some number crunching that I think some people may find interesting.

Looking at it to get a good score you need every 1.0m you invest in your first 11 to get around 23 points plus double on around 12 m (Salah, sterling) for captain points. This would net out around 2200 for a season. This assumed bench fodder of 4.0,4.0,4.5,4.5

Big question for me then is in GK right now a tier 1 6.0 GK is likely to get 160 points (27 points per 1.0m) , whereas a 4.5 (Ryan) will only get 120 (agin 27 points).

At this points per million having a premium keeper makes most sense as not a single mid for 7.0m apart from Milli on 166 got over 160 points and that's at 1.0m more expensive.

It would also mean vardy would need something like 207, close to 30 less than last season.

Premium defenders also score very well on this method

      Just watch the GK assumptions

Ederson & Alison could easily break 180, with pen saves they could go further

Etheridge smashed it at 4.5 last year

Pope got 152 the year before at 4.5

Age on mid price mids - I find them generally to be hugely underwhelming at those prices

Vardy *should* be ok when you consider he has 10G 1 A in the 11 games since Puel was sacked

        *agree on mid price mids

Perez in a Rodgers system looks wrongly priced though

with VAR/potential pens could keepers not be at risk of less clean sheets though too?

Or alternatively more clean sheets if VAR reduced the amount of goals scored - nobody knows

Yeah I think Pope could be good for 140-150, is that a better spend than premium at 4.5?

      1. EMBOLOFAN
        • 5 Years

based on recent seasons, yes. but it’s a could and we probably know what the floor is for liverpool/city cs. burnley more uncertain

          • 5 Years

on average there tends to be nothing it in between good 4.5s and premiums. the 1.5 is likely put to better use elsewhere once you know which teams look solid. from gw1 its a largely unnecessary risk imo

    3. EMBOLOFAN
      • 5 Years

it might seem logical on the face of it to maximize gross spend in positions where players offer highest value per mill (gk, def) but due to formation restrictions and the pricing structure of mids/attackers it doesn’t really work that way

Lol adding to what I said earlier about wolves needing a top quality CB and cover at CM they are moving to Sami Khedira (puts donkey place at risk) and Ruben Dias. If they got these aswell as cutrone that is one hell of a window and one they needed badly

Quick 1 or 2 guys: (tough one)

    1) Robbo, Fraser, Digne, King
    2) VVD, Zaha, Coleman, Wilson

Rest of the team looks like this

    Ryan
    X / TAA / X / Zich
    Salah / Sterling / Siggy / X / Perez
    X

    Cheers

For those going with cheap strikers, let's say 8.0 max, what is your plan to get Kane or Auba should you feel you need to? Can you do it in two moves without shipping the likes of Salah or Sterling?

Hoping son will cover spurs enough, no plans for auba would probably look more at Lacazette as a cheaper alternative
