Which Spurs players are worth owning in FPL this season?

Tottenham Hotspur players are causing some Fantasy Premier League managers dilemmas at the start of the season.

They have a favourable opening fixture at home to Aston Villa but with a trip to Manchester City in Gameweek 2 and relatively expensive price points, their assets could be the ones to miss out on those initial teams.

However, there are some encouraging reasons to own some of Mauricio Pochettino’s players at the start of the new campaign.

In this article we assess Spurs’ defensive and attacking potential based on last season’s underlying statistics.

As this analysis uses data from the Fantasy Football Scout Members Area, only those who have signed up for the 2019/20 season can access it in full.

They have been trialling 4-3-3 which means Gross doesn’t fit in the starting 11 as he plays behind as a #10

Fairly tempted by King, Wilson and Fraser for the first 2GWs.

Fraser most likely to make way, but I can’t see a 7.5m that I think scores more than him in the opening 2. Planning 2FT + 1 hit in GW3 for mini WC to see me through until int break. Fingers crossed...

May not need one. But It’s pretty common to save 2FT and use one hit to shake up your team, I have done it in 2 of the last three seasons near the start to push back a potential WC. Works well in my experience.

    New season, new questions....
Firstly, how do I change my status to reflect my new FPL team? I know it's something to do with copying and pasting from the FPL gameweek history page but it's not updating on this site.
Secondly, what do you reckon regarding this 3-4-3 team?
    Pope (Heaton)
Digne - Robertson - Van Dijk (Dunk - Lundstram)
Salah (c) - Sterling (vc) - Perez - Barkley (Robinson)

    Hi guys:

    Team A or B...

    A:

    Pope (Button)
    Zinchenko, VVD, KWP, AWB, (Kelly)
    Sterling, KDB, Perez, Fraser, Robinson
    Kane, Wilson (Greenwood)

    B:

    Pope (Button)
    TAA, VVD, AWB (Kelly, Simpson)
    Sterling, Salah, Perez, Fraser, Moura
    Wilson, Murray, (Greenwood)

Obviously A has no Salah but has Kane and B also had 3 pool over 1.

Big gamble to do A as it’s way off template but keen to get people’s opinion

Been following Joe on twitter and he seems to love his price points, sometimes I think I don't get it though. He's not a fan of 2 x 4.5 forwards as you will be unable to downgrade them. What's the harm of this as you can upgrade them providing you downgrade somewhere else.

Would love it if someone could help me understand this reasoning.

Upgrading takes two transfers which often means a hit. Downgrading is free.

I know forwards aren't really this year's flavour of choise, but how about this team?

    Pope - 4.0
    VVD - TAA - Zink - Zouma - 4.0
    Salah - KDB - Perez - 4.5 - 4.5
    Auba - Wilson - Kean

    1. BooYaKasha

Too many punts, go for the tried and tested at the beginning of the season imo

      1. Salino
        • 7 Years
        4 years, 7 months ago

You mean Kean, KDB, Perez, Zouma and Zink as punts then? Could go safer in def, and Bilva and Siggy in mid. Just like the look of 3 strikers as i lose the non-playing striker on the bench. Risky without Sterling though.

Looks good . I’d maybe not double up on Liverpool defence , maybe go cheaper than VVD and use money elsewhere ?

      1. Salino
        • 7 Years
        4 years, 7 months ago

Yeah was considering that, and upgrading the other defenders. Or up Perez, but don't really like any midfielders in the 6.5-8 price bracket (everton lacking goals, have wilson (for fraser), most other have bad matches or to insecure).
        What would you upgrade?

Yeah but then i have to downgrade elsewhere as well, think team looks to weak then. But dangerous to go without Sterling.

Good to go? My only concern is owning Coleman with Sidibe coming in and perhaps taking some minutes. I also got Barkley in instead of Zinchenko due to the uncertainty created by the signing of Cancelo. Will try to get a City defender when we have more information.

    Heaton
    van Dijk TAA Coleman
Salah (C) Sterling (v) Lucas Moura Perez Barkley
    Haller Wilson

I like it. With Duvall supposedly coming in and Son’s return, Lucas’ game time will be reduced/managed. Beware...unless you’re going for a short-term punt with him.

Feeling very settled on this now:

    Ryan
    Alexander-Arnold, van Dijk, Digne
    Salah, Sterling, Sigurdsson, Perez, Barkley
    Wilson, Jota

    Button; Rico, Lundstram, Greenwood.

I know that Barkley isn't nailed but I'm willing to take the risk due to his upside. A 6m attacking midfielder on pens playing for a top 6 club is FPL gold. If it doesn't work out so be it. The alternative would be to play 4-4-2 with Stones or Zinchenko instead but neither of them are nailed either and to be honest I don't like City's first three fixtures for clean sheets.

    Good to go?

No disrespect to Siggy, but we might have some premium players outside of Salah, Sterling and Mane worth buying this season!

    Pepe, Dybala, Coutinho, Robinson...

Callum's in my team and I've been flirting with giving him the armband. The kind of flirting where you stare at her from across the room

The kind where you’re drunk and the next day you’re glad you just stared?

    Heaton
    TAA/VVD/Coleman/Zinchenko
    Salah/KDB/Fraser/Lanzini
    Kean/Kane

Lanzini has been playing a lot in pre season for West Ham and has been in good form, so going for him as a differential.
Going for Kean up front from Everton as also a differential as the fixtures look great.

    OR

I could go Kean -> King then Fraser -> Siggy as a more safer pick

Lanzini is a great pick. Don't think I haven't noticed West Ham's fixtures after Citeh. Wish I could make space for him from the off as I think West Ham will score but just can't convince myself enough.

Not sure Kean starts in GW1, so look out for team news on that.

Would probably go for Siggy over Lanzini and Wilson or Jota over Kean for now
