Why has Everton’s attack been so underwhelming so far this season?

Everton’s popular attacking assets have underwhelmed Fantasy Premier League managers so far this season.

After two matches, they have scored just once, only Crystal Palace finding the net fewer times than the Toffees at this stage.

Perhaps we should not be too surprised to see Marco Silva’s men struggle in front of goal at this stage.

During their pre-season campaign, they scored just three goals in seven matches, with Richarlison (£8.0m) the only key figure missing for most of it.

One was registered against Kenyan side Kariobangi Sharks, while Monaco and Mainz were the only other teams to concede against Everton.

The Toffees drew blanks in four of their summer friendlies, against FC Sion, Wigan Athletic, Sevilla and Werder Bremen.

Of those who found the back of the net, Joe Williams and Lewis Gibson are not first-team regulars, the former now a permanent Wigan player, while Seamus Coleman (£5.5m) is the only summer goal-scorer to have played in either Premier League match so far this season.

Accordingly, ahead of a Gameweek 3 trip to Aston Villa, Fantasy managers might be looking to move on their Everton attackers.

We have assessed the underlying statistics from their first two matches of the campaign to find out if the Toffees have simply been unlucky not to score more often, or if there are some tangible reasons for concern.

    Am I missing something with these RMT's that have 2 or 3 players that are cheap but do not play e.g. Greenwood and Button.
    Surely better to have guaranteed starters for a little more £££?

          I usually make sure my bench is sorted before bench boost.Usually around 2nd wild card time I use it near the dgw etc

        Wildcard team at this point with no bench is beyond stupid. Ive given up arguing the case, Ill just enjoy their whining when their assets get benched and they have no backup in 4-5 gameweeks time.

      I can understand a 4.0 non-playing keeper. Can't see why anyone would have Greenwood on a wildcard, even if you want a joke player for your 3rd striker it would make sense to keep a 3rd Utd spot free just in case.

    Wilson dropping in price despite picking up two assists is annoying. I already got rid of Fraser (for Maddison) as my one FT, and am hoping Jota can make it thru tonight without losing 0.1m.

      Starting Greenwood is guaranteeing at most 10mins of playing time and an expected points total of just over1.

      The other 3 players will all start and will have an expected points total above 2.

        Would rather downgrade VVD than Robbo but, other than KDB (which isn’t really achievable without downgrading Kane) there’s no one I particularly want.

        Could just change Button for a playing GK.

      Got to be City I think with the fixtures, but Emerson is also a fine option. Stats indicate he will get attacking returns.
      Jonny/Chilwell come into contention when fixtures clear up.

    Value players are the key to doing well in this game - we can all pick out sterling, salah, kane, etc - it's just a case of identifying the value players to enable them (imo). With that in mind, who do we think are the top 5 value players in the game currently?

      Pukki Martial KdB and Ceballos/Mount at the moment.
      Think Dendonker is great value despite the Cantwell hype train.
      Buendia looks like a player as well.
      and as always, defenders who make a mockery of their starting price - not clear who they are (except Lundstrum) right now but Sheff Utd generally look defensive, as do Palace, Soyouncu looks cheap and some Watford/westham/southampton defenders could surprise as they have decent stats.

    Due to the Gray price drop and me getting some team value from Pukki I can do this on WC. It gives me arguably the strongest midfield I have ever had with 2 playing forwards and all my bench being options.
