Scoutcast discusses changing of the captaincy guard

Joe is joined by Karam and Tom from Who Got the Assist? for the latest episode of the Scoutcast tonight.

You can watch it on our YouTube channel from 8pm BST to 9pm BST.

As the Champions League is back on our screens, this episode will overlap with the European action and we will try to bring you regular updates from Manchester City and Tottenham’s matches.

Episode 303 marks a slight changing of the guard when it comes to the captaincy.

After a rotation of Liveprool and Manchester City players in the early rounds of the season, Arsenal are starting to creep into the equation some more.

What impact this should have on our transfers and armband decisions will be the task of Joe, Karam and Tom tonight.

After some impressive statistics in recent weeks, Riyad Mahrez (£8.5m) commands some of our time as we discuss if he’s worth signing.

There will also be time to have a weekly look at how defenders are getting on at both ends of the spectrum as well as the success of assets from newly-promoted teams.

I'd keep KDB into the international break even if he doesn't play this GW. Plenty of time to get rid of him during the break and if you save the FT, you will avoid taking a hit as well. The question is, is your bench strong enough this geew and if it isn't, why aren't you prepared for Pep roulette?

      • 11 Years

With 2.9 ITB, you also have the option of Ayew to Wilson or Haller this GW, then reassess KDB situation over the int break. Dropping second MCity offender seems like a bad idea, so Mahrez, BSilva and DSilva would be my recommended replacement candidates even with Pep roulette and all.

Feel like gona have toWC any help/advice welcome please and thanks after this horrendous week I have 3yellow flags and 2 Red.
    Pope/McGovern
    TAA/AWB/Aurier/Lundy/Rico
    Salah/Maddison/KDB/Mount/Hayden
    Kun/Pukki/Tammy
    1FT .03itb

    Could WC to this
    Ederson/McGovern
    Ota/Tomori/Söyüncü/Lundy/Rico
    Salah/Son/Mount/Cantwell/Dockers(rotation)

It's a tough one, your side is pretty good on paper but I wouldn't want to go into any GW with 10 men. I assume the 5 on red/yellow are Maddison, Wan Bissaka, Hayden, KDB & Aurier? It might be worth while waiting on more information. If Maddison & Wan Bissaka are declared fit, I would probably just trade Hayden to either Donk or Guendozi.

So sterling owners were the real winners last night.. City looked a bit one dimensional and like they lacked width with Bilva playing LW. Guardiola swapped him out got Sterling before 60 mins which shows that he wasn't happy.. Sterling then scores a goal and assist and looks fantastic.. Plays just 34 minutes so is almost fully rested. Sterling(c) this weekend it is 🙂

Hi guys, any idea how often does the RMT section get updated? I have been looking at the numbers for some time and it is always the same.

I wonder if the RMT figures would take into account current form, midweek games played and other conditions instead of only initial projections made before the season starts.

Hope someone can shed a light on this as I would like to use this fantastic feature on the members section.

    Thanks in advance!

Kun owners - What are your plans given the fact that he played yesterday 89 minutes? Do you think he'll be benched vs Wolves?

Time to move him out for Aubameyang?

Son + which striker makes way for Vardy & Maddison after the IB?

    Pope
    TAA, Robbo, Ota
    Salah, Son, KDB, Mount

What if Tammy blanks? I think it's so close (between all 3) it might depend on what you bought them for. If I bought Pukki for $6.5m I wouldn't want to sell him now.

The more I think about it, the more it looks like Pukki (unless he hauls vs Villa) despite the TV hit

He’s averaging 3 PPG away from home... and from GW9 4 of his following 7 fixtures would be away, with 2 of the 3 home fixtures being Arsenal & Man Utd

      Cheers all

What's everyone's plans with a player like Cantwell if you bought him at $4.5m? If/When he reaches 5.1 that's a nice 0.3 profit you've gained from him if you sell, but at the same time your TV loses 0.3.

Good time to sell Son? played the full 90 mins last night and has 2 upcoming IB games. He's started all 5 PL games since he came back from his ban. Looking primed for a rest in either GW 8 or even worse, in 9 at home to Watford.

Keeping one more week before Vardy swap - no fear of the rest GW8 as he’s their best pacy forward by quite some distance.... rest GW9 a distinct possibility with international travel though

He absolutely could get rested. I'm not saying it WILL happen. But If you look at how many games he has played and he future fixture schedule, there is a chance he COULD be rested or come of the bench.

I think the landscape has changed a bit at spurs - Son isn’t really a player they can afford to freely rest anymore, he’s just improved way too much and is head & shoulders above Lamela & Moura as a pacy forward

I think international travel and an “easier” fixture vs Watford looks the opportunity for rest if it is to happen though

Playing 90 midweek can take a toll on any player. I'm not saying he's very likely to be rested. But I think we cannot completely rule it out.

Mahrez full 90 midweek. Think Bilva and Dilva are safer

Dilva is the safest since he is not going on International duty

I would put Son in that risk category then. Bilva and Dilva are good calls, but they are all equally risky imho.

Squad: 33, Starting eleven: 23, Started on the Bench: 10, Substituted in: 8, Stayed the bench: 2

              -Transfermkt 18/19 Son stats

If he was in the Matchday squad he was fit to play, and he only started 23 out of those 33 games

KDB, Haller > Yarmo, Auba. If you must

          Else, I would keep KDB

1 ft, 0.8 itb. Is VVD to TAA logic this week? Or Mings to Lundy to get rid of this double Villa defence?

    Heaton Button
    VVD Digne Ota Montoya Mings
    Salah Sterling KDB Mount Cantwell
    Tammy Pukki Greenwood

Not trying to predict Pep's rotation roulette, but it would be better if someone else also had a similar train of thoughts, so as to justify whether it would be worth to stick with Kun for the upcoming weeks or not:
    1) Kun would most likely start this weekend given that he was benched in previous PL game. However KDB may not play hence City may not be as creative
    2) Kun would start in GW9 as well against a defensive Palace at home, with Jesus returning from International duty
    3) Gets benched for GW10 to allow Jesus to play PL against Villa at home (where otherwise would have been the best captaincy option)
    4) GW11 against Soton where he would most likely play and can be captained
    5) GW12 against Liverpool away from home, who would have Allison back. As this fixture is crucial may or may not play

Personally considering selling for Auba and giving him the armband, who has been extremely consistent and saves over 1mn. May swap back to Kun later once Laca returns to the team.

Doubt 1. He played 89mins. Hard to see him start.

But Jesus also did the same last week. Played entire Champions league and then again started weekend PL game.

Jesus is very young. He can play twice in a week. Can kun?

I would stick with Kun, though I understand the temptation of Auba. Also with regards to point 1, I personally wouldn't expect KDB's absence to be felt too badly. Agree that Kun will likely play, although if you did want to make the move this would be the week to do so for sure.

KDB not playing will have a far greater impact on team structure. There are just too many variables. My view is what you have is what you stick with. Making any transfer in the hope a Citeh asset gets gametime is futile and probably a waste of a transfer.
To throw a spanner in the works; did you know Jesus plays on the right for Brazil, not in the centre.

Unlikely Pep is going to use Jesus on the right if that is what u r trying to convey. He has only 2 proper strikers and playing both in the same game with a single striker formation may not be sensible. Given the injuries at CB, unlikely that he risks playing 3-5-2 formation now either.

You miss my point. The right wing point is we can find 101 reasons to work out Pep. Totally impossible. It was not "what I was trying to convey"
