Scoutcast Episode 306 – What to do about Aguero and Man City rotation?

Manchester City rotation and the fallout from Leicester City’s remarkable 9-0 win over Southampton dominate the discussion in this week’s Scoutcast.

David and Az have the perfect guest to reflect on the rout at St. Mary’s, as they are joined by Foxes fan and Jamie Vardy captainer Andy Goddard.

Andy also reveals how he has ascended to the top of the FFS Mods and Cons mini-league despite – or perhaps because of – having no Liverpool and Manchester City representation.

There is plenty of airtime devoted to Pep Guardiola’s maddening tinkering as the debate rages over how we handle the unpredictability of the champions’ starting XIs.

A discussion on the defensive template also throws up various names, both budget and premium.

Andy takes his turn to choose a differential after the success of Joe’s Neal Maupay pick, while David reveals the best teams for clean sheets.

There’s plenty of roughs and a smattering of smooths as Az summarises the community’s fortunes in Gameweek 10.

The trio’s transfer and captain plans are also unveiled as we prepare for the penultimate Gameweek before the November international break.

Yeah, got his rest last night. The game also once again proved how he’s arguably our most important player at the minute, we had nobody to link the midfield and attack like he does. Our press was non existent without him and Tammy aswell

I dont see him keeping his place, I'm going to move to 352 from 343, and fodder will be greenwood, for 0.3, hell be 3rd on bench, and can see connolly getting only slightly more mins in the longer term.

Difficult to know right now, kinda need one more game to judge but then fixtures turn anyway. Brighton manager rates him HIGHLY though.

Perfect enabler for me when I switched to a 5 man midfield. This coming GW is an anomaly in the fact that I 100% want to play him. He will be bench fodder after that.
IRL, highly rated and quality young player who will get game time but with his minutes significantly managed most likely this season.

      1. jason_ni
        • 8 Years
        4 years, 5 months ago

What has mount got to do with CHO?
Yeah when they were 6.0, obvs mount better pick, but now, CHO is still super value, he is a class talent and will get plenty of mins.
In those 3 options, a leaky arse def is the one to bench

            • 8 Years

Of course he does.. could assist and keep a cleanie, same time arse could concede 2 and no.returns for Tierney.
Noone knows, just about going with your gut.
My gut says outta those 3, bench Tierney.

wow Mount is 6.9m! I did not even realise I got him for 6.1m lol

Even so, I think CHO being back pushes Mount more centrally and he will score more points there so is worth the extra compared to CHO who also now has big competition from Pulisic.

Captaining Aguero over Sterling and KDB again this week. Is this move:

    A) Foolish
    B) Risk worth taking but I'm not doing it.
    C) Risk worth taking and I am definitely going to captain him.

I wouldn't say it's foolish, but it is risky, and a risk certainly worth taking against that porous Southampton defence. I don't own Kun, but think you have to really if you've got him. Best of luck whatever you decide.

Keep Haller for one more week, or get shot for Rashford? Would mean playing Pieters away to Sheff. United.

If Aguero plays though, doesn't that somewhat dent Sterlings output? Seems to do better when Jesus just plays.

I think you’ll be cursing if Sterling TC fails with that rank. To be honest most will captain Sterling so your gains will be minimal enough. Again you can’t predict Aguero or Jesus starting so if you’re up for the risk go with it!

Yeah that's what i was bearing in mind, like how much ground can it possibly launch me up when a hell of a lot of people will be capping him.
I would be fuming at my rank if it flopped, however team is set up nicely now to hopefully shoot up rank, so maybe a risk too far with the TC. Shall make a late decision though, cheers mate.

Doesn’t really matter how captained he is - you just wanna TC the biggest score you can in the season and get the most points out of the chip.

I’m not though, you just don’t know what doubles we’ll get yet

      1. Salah’s Sonnet
        • 12 Years
        4 years, 5 months ago

Of course, totally agree, and we really dont know what doubles we'll be presented with like ya say. I'm still 50/50 but i'll likely bottle out of it.

Of course it could work, but yeah feels too risky this early for me. His ownership is low enough that a normal captaincy with a haul would be a big result

      2. DNFPL
        • 4 Years

Yes but a clear reason why he’s TC is because of rank. Doubt he would if he was doing well.

But if it’s not the best TC option over the season, then it’s not the best opportunity to make the highest rank gains for the final OR or mini league position. Maximising points total over the season is surely the only goal, unless playing head to head etc

"If a large majority are already captaining him, is it even worth it?"

It doesn't matter what other people are doing. What matters is making the best choice for when to use the chip. You can bet that when that Liverpool double GW comes along, a ton of people will be TC'ing. Does that suddenly make them less good?

There's way too much focus on what the top 10K are doing, or how to cover risks. Just make the best decisions you can. Only right at the end with like 3 weeks left could you maybe take into consideration other teams if it's a close mini league, but that's it. It won't apply for 99% of players either. So just focus on making the most +EV choices.

    Evening all

I’ve somehow managed to get this far without being tempted to take hits (very unlike me ). Kun gets this week to save my season and then he and Boly are gone, prob with a mid to facilitate a shift around.

    G2G?

    0.4itb 0FT
    Pope
    TAA, Lunds, Willems
    Mané, KDB (v), Mount, Barnes
    Aguero (C), Vardy, Abraham
    (McGovern) (Rico, Dendo, Boly)

GL all! This will be a week with massive highs and lows I think

B, was actually gonna say Tielemans before i even saw the options beneath your question. I was so close to bringing him in last week, and even though he hauled, i'mve still gone with my instinct on him, and is overlooked, plays high up, great fixtures, all plus's 🙂

He could indeed turn out to be mediocre, but the way he looks, and sharp on the ball, and pounces quickly with playing high up, i think he's in with a shout of raising his game this season. Purely at this price point if anything i like to give him a chance. Like is say, i really wanted him even before teh Southampton obliteration, but i didn't wanna take a further hit, but still trusting hi m to do good things.

realistically do we think Emery is going to be under threat soon?
I didnt think he would be, and would be given a long time to make his stamp on the team but now im not so sure. What would it take?
3 home games in the next 5 vs pretty weak/mediocre opposition, if Arsenal dont perform well in those maybes thats probably when right?

How would arsenal fans feel about Jose?

I dont know how ambitious the Arsenal board are but Emery seems clueless. The Arsenal defence is awful and he needs to let his ego not get the better of him with Ozil.

      1. have you seen cyan
        • 4 Years
        4 years, 5 months ago

the whole ozil thing is odd, and tbh if he starts playing ozil regularly now its like he sucumbed to outside pressure and didnt stick to his guns. I guess he cant win in that case, either gets called stubborn or weak.
Probably should have avoided it in the first place, on paper its ridiculous to have the clusb higehst earner at 350k a week bench warming if he is lucky. If you look at Spurs and Eriksen, theres clear issues but even Poch attempts to play one of our best players.

The defence is bad, he has full control of transfers? It is hard to find a good value defender these days tho thats for sure, you jsut have to pay big for the finished article.

dont think Emery is the right man for the job. He has issues on how to handle a dressing room from his PSG days too.

I would probably take Jose for a season or 2 to change the mentality.

Benitez was my preferred choice or even Arteta.

dressing room sounds split like crazy, Laca liking a post saying Emery out and that Xhaka can do one..
