Merry Christmas from Fantasy Football Scout

Christmas Day has finally arrived, providing many of us with a chance to take a much-needed break from Fantasy Premier League, as hard as that is.

While you’re doing your best to ignore FPL, everyone here at Fantasy Football Scout would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

While you’ll probably be digesting roast dinner rather than FPL content on this special day, I am sure many of you will be considering what to do with Son Heung-min after his Gameweek 18 red card.

Don’t forget, if you’re struggling to balance family life and FPL, former world champion Simon March has provided us with some much-needed tips. READ THEM HERE.

Thankfully, we had enough time to produce plenty of articles ahead of the Boxing Day fixtures so make sure you head over to our Gameweek 19 guide in the top menu for everything you need for tomorrow.

Until then, I would like to thank our many readers, listeners and viewers for another year of fantastic support for Fantasy Football Scout.

After the transitional season of 2018/19, with myself, Neale and Geoff coming onto the team, the 2019/20 campaign has been one of continued growth for the site.

Further increases in viewing figures and membership sign-ups have helped us invest back in more new signings including a team of talented ProPundits, video and community manager Andy Mears, as well as expanded involvement for FPL Family pair Sam and Lee Bonfield.

A great big thanks also goes to our team of mods for the thankless job they do for us every day.

That just leaves me to make another rare request for you to tear yourself away from the site for this one day of the year and spend some time with your family and friends.

Captain Sensible and the Scout Picks articles went up yesterday so there won’t be too much more to have a look at today.

We’ll be hearing from Pro Pundit Az Phillips a little bit later today but apart from that, it’s going to be a quiet one until the Boxing Day matches.

Once again, everyone here at Fantasy Football Scout, wishes you a Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year and a Christmas Tree of green arrows between now and the end of the season.

Alli or Kane look to be the best choice this GW for me too

Spurs have comeback with a 5-0 win after the manutd defeat and face a team next in Brighton who loves to attack and presents plenty of counter opportunities - only downside for me is Mou who has already reverted to very defensive and conservative approach; if they are up by 2-0 he wud instruct them to see the game out

Big question for me is whether last 2 matches was just typical Mou conservativism against direct competitors. Could be. But it’s a really stolid central midfield generally. That leaves attack reliant on quick counters and Son out is hardly good news from that point of view.

              True

Depends on how stubborn Mourinho is and he's good at stubborn. Think there's dispute between them because Eriksen won't sign a new deal, unlike Alderweireld. He should play them until transfer window at least.

What to do with this mess then?

    Gaz, Button
    TAA, Soycu, Lundy, Rico, Kelly
    Mane, KDB, Son, Zaha, Grealish
    Jesus, Vardy, Connolly

    2 FT 0.5 ITB

Was thinking Son + Jesus > Alli + Kane but I’m now 0.1 short due to price rises

    Henderson
    TAA, Soyuncu, Lundstram
    Alli, Mane, KdB(c), Maddison

same team apart from henderson and tammy (pope and rashford) and i'm saving. like yourself nothing sticks out this week. the picture should be clearer after boxing day games with regards to possible rotation over new year, it's a good time to have two frees.

Couple of quick questions if you were WC gw20:

    1) Taa or Aurier (+2m)...it’s the diff between Ings (to Tammy) or Grealish (to Maddison)

    2) Alli or Rashford? Both similar price. Or should I try to squeeze in both

    3) Ryan/Rico or Ramsdale/Webster? Both cost the same

    4) Kelly or Kiko? Both would cost me 4.2m. Kelly is only useful till gw21 whereas Kiko (if nailed) is better long term I feel

Why are people getting Kane for hits is beyond me 😮
I mean, Alli is furthest attacker. He's best rout in that attack.

Can see 3/4 strikers outscoring Hurricane who are below is price tag

As long as it lookes like they’re back to the performances before Mou, and the Mou effect seems to be over, yes, too much.

Kind of regret getting Aurier, hasn’t given anything the last weeks. And ok on selling son as out and only have Alli left.

There're better options in GW19. For Lundstram captaincy needs a poor Watford defence and attack and that's less likely than a few weeks ago.

      Ings 100%!

My issue is Cantwell away to Villa or Ings Vs Chelsea away!

I think he might bench Ings in this game to have fresh Vs Palace in their next game but he might start him and play a half. I’m pretty sure Cantwell will start away at Villa though

      1. pingissimus
        • 5 Years

Guessing rotation is a mugs game of course but think Ings is safer than Cantwell.

Ings is Southampton right now and Chelsea are beatable. Cantwell is young and in first season and perhaps could do with a rest.

I expect managed minutes for Ings only.

Is Ings being rested Vs Chelsea good logic? Or will he start him for 1st half to try and catch a goal and then off? I can’t see him playing 90 mins?

I do however see Cantwell getting 90 mins and ceiling is higher BUT he isn’t scoring as consistently as Ings!

By far hardest benching choice I have had this year

Very decent - nice mix of template and differentials.

I’d prefer another keeper and I’m a bit dubious about Kane but quite see the draw.

Would Guaita Digne tempt you short term? You can get TAA back by 24/5 if Digne bombs? Potential double up with Kelly a problem I guess but would you bench Lund for Kelly?

      1. tobsorensen
        • 4 Years
        4 years, 3 months ago

Thanks! I think the keeper position is really difficult at this stage. Maybe Rico to Kiko and Gazza to Ramsdale?

Digne tempts me, but I do not trust Everton enough to go with a double-up. Think I'll stick with Richarlison. Also think Pool may tighten up a bit at the back from now on.

I don't like the defensive double-up, but I see you're point with benching Kelly for Lund. My plan is to bench Lund in his tough spell against Pool and City though.

Keepers is another one I’m struggling with too!

Really like Henderson but I have Lundstram. Fixtures are surely too bad for both.

Gazza is a terrible keeper imo and spurs are just not keeping clean sheets.

Ramsdale has nice fixtures but Bournemouth are just horrible at the moment.

Guaita is probably where I will go if I can afford him. Also thinking Foster as Watford look capable of clean sheets

I've also looked at Foster as a possibility, but I can't afford him as for now. Could do Cantwell to Dendoncker and Gazza to Foster, but would it be worth it?

Yeah probably not worth losing Cantwell as Dend is a 2 pointer and nothing more.

Lloris is due back in februar I think. Don't think Vorm could get back in no. He's even more of a liability than Gazza.
Could go with Ramsdale though. Would probably not start Rico a lot anyways.

Like it a lot. Similar to mine but I’ve gone with Alli instead of Grealish and no TAA.

      You sure on Gazza?

Thanks! Who have you gone for instead of TAA?

I'm not sure on Gazza at all, but there are very few keepers that does attract me these days.

I’ve just went cheap in defence tbh as having Alli doesn’t allow a premium.

Digne interests me but I’m just not sure the fixtures are that great yet. Plus he is bound to get rested for one of the next 2 - surely cannot play twice in 3 days. Same for a lot of players I guess

On wildcard - which is the better option:

    A) Vardy Kane Pukki
    B) Vardy Rashford Abraham
    C) Another combination

    Opinions appreciated

I'm wildcarding too, and my current draft has option A. Still not sure whether to go with that though. Kind of want Abraham in for Chelsea's upcoming fixtures, but I can't afford him if I want to go with Kane. I personally think Rash is too expensive considering how awful United are against weaker sides. Vardy is of course a must.

Echoing my thoughts really. I was against Abraham but warming to him now.

Rashford I just cannot decide on. Brought him in last week prior to WC so will be pissed if I get rid and he hauls. Agree that he is just not reliable

Pukki feels I bit too much of a one week punt - if he blanks I will want rid asap. Would probably be looking to replace with Jiminez soon anyway.

Kane is the huge choice and cannot help I am falling into a trap. Would not be considering if I was not on wildcard

Yeah, we seem to agree a lot on this one. Pukki could run riot against the poor Villa defence with good service and Norwich seems to have found some kind of form again.

I think I'll go with Kane because of the fact that he is as much as nailed through the busy period and that he is a more reliable captaincy option than Alli in my opinion. One more thing to consider is that his price bracket makes it fairly easy to upgrade him to Agu if he starts firing again.

    Thoughts about this wildcard draft?

    Foster, Button
    TAA, Aurier, Lundstram, Kelly, Rico
    Salah, KDB, Moura, Grealish, Dendoncker
    Kane, Vardy, Abraham
