Is now the time to sell Leicester City defenders?

Having recorded just one clean sheet in seven league matches, Leicester City defenders are not quite the attractive options they were during their autumnal purple patch.

Three of the Foxes’ first-choice backline are indeed among the top five most-sold Fantasy Premier League defenders of Gameweek 23 at the time of writing.

Jonny Evans (£5.3m) is the only Leicester defender to have registered an attacking return over the last seven Gameweeks, meanwhile, and the loss of key midfielder Wilfred Ndidi (£5.0m) to injury would seem to further dent the clean sheet prospects of Brendan Rodgers’ side.

With some Fantasy managers already losing faith, are we rushing to judgement about the Foxes’ defence?

In this article, we look at some of the key underlying data in our Members Area to see if Leicester’s wider defensive numbers have dipped during their recent run.

Which combo gets the most points in DGW24?

    a) TAA + Salah + Mane
    b) TAA + Robbo + Salah (or Mane)
    c) TAA + Salah/Mane + Firmino

...and if (b) or (c), which mid?

B is value pick for sure.
I really like Taa Robbo Mane as triple up for next few GW's from Pool team. Not feel too invested in one attack too (Salah Mane can kill it agree, but they can fail too which makes me feel uncomfortable 😀 )

I'm thinking the same, especially as Im chasing and almost everyone will do A or B. That and captaincy will be key and, in for a penny, it would have to be a Bobby TC

My problem is with the other players I really want on wildcard I'll end up with a small fortune itb going Firmino over Salah/Mane which doesn't sit right!

The problem with this, and why this is such a hard choice, is that the real question is NOT which three Pool players score the most, but what other player you can afford after that. In my case, I have TAA and Salah. Adding Firmino allows me to have Dilva or Martial. Adding Mane means I'd have DCL or Maupay. Going with Robertson lets me add Rashford. So what I'm really struggling with is which of Maupay/DCL, Dilva/Martial, or Rashford will score more in GW 24.

Agree on Maupay and Brighton but those next three fixtures... if there's ever a time for a Maupay/BHA purple patch it could be incoming. Set on either the Dunk/Maupay or Dunk/Trossard double up on my Wildcard

Been pondering this for some time. While both are good budget picks over the next 4GWs, I've gone Maupay due to the slightly more appealing fixtures both over the next 2 GWs and longer term. Surely anyone can notch against the current Villa and Bournemouth defense.

The logic is there but the need to work out how to make everything a bit more fluid, or lenient. Or something. It's horrible when people think the have scored and celebrate a goal only to see it disallowed over something trivial.

Ruins what is essentially the best part of the game.

      Can improve.
It will definitely evolve into a very good system. Decisions should be made in very very short time period though.

I mean 3/4 looks of incident is enough to make a judgement (in general). If they give Ref time span of let's say 15 seconds after whistle blown to stop play, current technology is definitely advanced enough to make it possible

Right now its shift and has too many flaws. I agree that it will improve over time but it's still embarrassing how little homework was put in before implementing it in the first place. Simple example, we've had a few missed penalties retaken for encroachment yeah? Why dont they check the scored penalties for encroachment, they should be retaken too. There are several more examples of inconsistencies

Right decision in your case I think. From memory you set up with thin bench.

OGS won’t give any cLear. indication likely before the match. And well if that was the same injury as before and given joe he hobbled off it could be a bit of a wait.

He wasn’t likley to score this week anyway really.

    Trent Digne Dunk
    Mane/Salah Mahrez Son Richarlison

Has anyone here followed Brighton closely?

Need a midfielder under 6M to enable Maddison to Mane. Trossard has the best fixtures, is he worth a punt?

    How's this wc team?

    Ryan, (McCarthy)
    TAA, sidibe, Stephens (Lund, williams)
    Sterling, mane, son, fleck, (dendonker)
    Ings, aguero(C) (greenwood)

Sterling to salah for gw 24!

Not a huge fan, depending on fleck/dendoncker as 4th mid each week, defence is sacrificed, and Greenwood in a front 3.
Aguero needs to go and upgrade 4th mid and one or two others.

      1. LloristheHounds

        Any suggestions on 4th mid?
7.4 left with fleck out or
        6.9 left with dendonker out

Or greenwood> maupay and fleck to decoure?

Aguero can go back to vardy.

    McCarthy - Button
    TAA - Kelly - Lund - Rico - Soy
    Salah - KDB - Martial - Perez
    - Grealish
    Vardy - Abraham - Ings

    A) Abraham + martial ----> mane + greenwood
    B) Abraham + perez -----> firmino + doucoure/Sarr

I might do it this gw or NEXT gw depending on price changes

Decided to use WC. 2FT for next week. Current team is:

    Ryan
    TAA Digne Lund Kelly Stephens
    Salah Mane KDB Cantwell Trossard
    Vardy Ings Mousset.

I really want to punt on Son or Sterling this week but worried that Salah might rise by the time i bring him back next week. Too risky guys?

Posted this a couple of times yesterday so apologies for repetition.

Palace are among City’s favourite bunnies at the Etihad - 24 goals in the last 6 match ups there.

Makes sense when you look at how Palace ask teams to attack them - a bit like Villa! Also factor in the fact that Palace still only have half a full back fit against a rampant Mahrez and the win last year was in a high scoring thriller.

A bit like Villa eh, yeah, except they play with 5 DM's and 5 defs and don't have Drinkwater & Hourihane.

Not sure we have 5 defenders fit - let alone 5 who can play in position

The 24 goals have been spread evenly too. It’s not a case of a one off pounding - it feels almost like a pattern

      2-3
      5-0
      5-0
      4-0
      5-1
      3-0

Better yes - much better in this match up I doubt if you’re thinking of a low score

Villa could have conceded 8 had City not taken the foot off. I’d suggest 4 is rational.

Absence of Milivojevic will help Man City, so it can happen but I'm not expecting anything more than 2 goals.
