Scoutcast Episode 323 – Reacting to the Double and Blank Gameweeks

This week is pivotal for Fantasy managers as they look to navigate their way through a tricky set of fixtures as the season nears its conclusion.

The midweek announcement of a Double Gameweek 29 for Manchester City and Arsenal is among the key developments that our Scoutcast trio of Joe, Pranil (Lateriser12) and Az discuss in this busy episode of the Scoutcast.

They are also keeping a close eye on how Blank Gameweek 31 is shaping up, with this latest episode broadcast on Tuesday during Liverpool’s defeat to Chelsea in the FA Cup .

The deployment of chips will clearly be crucial in the Gameweeks ahead, so our trio look to cover as many permutations as they can.

Meanwhile, there are plenty of other topics to consider, including the ‘form versus fixtures’ debate that Southampton and Everton’s strikers are creating.

Teams and players who are highly motivated also come under scrutiny, with relegation and European places still up for grabs. In contrast, those already dreaming of their holidays are also debated in their chat.

The ‘Rough with the Smooth’ round-up of your Gameweek 28 scores focuses on how Leicester’s wavering form has been a hindrance for some and a blessing to others.

Az takes his turn to pick a differential, with a former favourite firmly in his sights.

Clean sheets get an airing and the Scoutcast crew round up proceedings with a look at their transfer and captaincy plans for Gameweek 29.

Be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel to get notified of future live episodes.

I'm wondering if all the games will go ahead at the weekend. Italy had 132 Coronavisus cases when the first 4 Serie A games were postponed. UK now has 87 and the number of cases is trebling daily, 4, 12, 36.

Manufacture face mask, hand washes etc will benefit, but for the economy in general it would be a complete disaster.

I’ve got wildcard, bench boost and free hit left to use

Does it suddenly make sense to wildcard now to bring in arsenal and city players, use free hit in 31 and then bench boost one of the later doubles.

Seems to make particular sense given Liverpool drop off means switching out the likes of Salah now makes sense. Also Aubameyang has good fixtures beyond just this week etc

Last season this site, along with many of the posters, played down Aguero ahead of a DGW. He went on to score a hat trick, which was followed by another hat trick the next GW. Could the same mistake be being made again? I don’t see many worrying about not owning Aguero but I’m wondering if that is simply because they’re finding it too difficult to get him in. A reminder, he has mun, ARS and BUR next 3 games.

If he was nailed I’d bring him straight in, likely going for auba, he still worries me though

      1. Rhodes your boat

Also the extra 0.9 needed for him means I’d have to lose mane/salah or kdb

I agree Auba appears the better pick all round this week, although the likes of Pepe offer an alternative. If you was wildcarding or free hitting would you be pushing for Aguero too? Or is that simply one premium forward too far?

      It's actually quite similar.

People avoided because Jesus was fit again. He promptly nets a hat-trick vs Arsenal and finishes the DGW with 19 points and then hits another hat-trick vs Chelsea the week after.

I'm just unsure if he's really in favor this time around. Jesus put in a great performance vs Real.

I agree about Jesus. The Real game (arguably the most important) if after Burnley at home. So if Jesus is going to start that you would fancy Aguero to play more of the Burnley game. He then just has to start one of the DGW games and he could get a decent return in the next two game weeks. This is Pep though...

Despite the DGW I'm looking to save, agree?

    McCarthy
    TAA | Pereira | Lascelles
    Salah | Mane | KdB | Maddison | Cantwell
    Vardy | Ings

    Button | Greenwood | Hanley | Williams

    1FT, 0ITB

    Thanks

Same, I remember this time last year.
SGW out scored DGW, Vardy could easily nail Villa
