They're trying to nobble you - they're scared their staff of 50 can't do a job as well as you on your own and are trying to eliminate the threat. I'd be wary if opening any mail from an unknown sender.
It would be some slap in the face to all the smarty pants managers that thought they were getting one over on the casuals.
When i was thinking about the different ways they could deal with a restart if it were ever to happen then this solution came to mind.
I've not made a transfer since the last gameweek the PL was played partly because i really think it's over and partly because i always felt those that burned a transfer over the shutdown would be reimbursed in the interest of fairness in the unlikely event of a restart.
I could be crazy but it's as good as any guess i've seen posted here over the last few weeks and i figured it was worth a roll of the dice.
If all else fails i had an epic green arrow streak in the mean time. 😉
I guess it's possible, just highly unlikely. It'd be a nightmare for them to do a reversal. Though I'm sure some boffin out there could do it.
Without checking I don't know how many free transfers there have been between lockdown and now but I'm sure it's quite a few. It's definitely better to be given a bunch of free transfers to make when the fixtures come out than it would have been to blindly slow WC.
You can’t tell people they have a transfer a week and then reverse them after they do it. Although I agree you can’t give people those tramsfers now with extra knowledge. They gave people a transfer a week people used them or they didn’t they aren’t going to reverse anything or give some people them now and not others that sued some before.
All this would do would offer a huge advantage to anyone who sat on their hands, giving them "current" info over those who chose to make changes in the knowledge everyone had the same opportunity to do so.
A free WC for all would be infinitely more sensible, but still not as 'fair' as simply restarting the league with GW39 following GW38 and each player retaining any saved transfers and chips.
If you've saved a WC, it's not unreasonable to expect to gain the full benefit of that over those who used theirs -- but I wouldn't be surprised by a GW1 style reset WC for GW39. If this was the case it would only be fair to see any "transfers made" ahead of GW30-38 wiped off the "total transfers" accumulator for deciding countbacks in the case of ties.
I’d be surprised. I think they will stick to the normal game structure as much as possible. I think a lot of people who have used their second wc will want this and enough people here will say it so that we start believing it (like mega BB38) but fpl have given no indication they’ll just hand free wildcards out. It would be controversial if they did as it’s not fair on players who haven’t played their 2nd wildcard earlier I don’t think fpl will actively cause controversy they seem to keep their heads down and let the game play out as closely originally plan as possible.
If they're gonna have some more GWs, rather than have one super GW for all remaining fixtures, and give everyone (inexplicably) a third wildcard, anyone who has their second wildcard should get double points for their second WC GW.
In VFPL, I wildcarded before GW19, took a few risks that didn’t pan out and resulted in a 56-point week, and dropped my OR from 44 to 56 (not catastrophic, but poor relative to the score of many other wildcarders).
Chief among my punts was not only bringing in Rashford, but captaining him. So I decided to look more closely at the data to convince myself I wasn’t crazy for bringing him in:
In the first ten gameweeks, he had 56 attack involvements, and returned 8 goals and 2 assists.
In the last nine gameweeks, he’s had 76 attack involvements, but has returned just 3 goals and 0 assists.
More acutely, in the last six gameweeks, he’s had 51 attack involvements with just a single goal to show for it.
I mean, shame on me - I guess - for not just sticking with the hot hand, but if ever there were a candidate for Jonty’s goals imminent table, Rash is the one. This seems like a crazy statistical anomaly, so I think I’ll hold for at least another week.
Does anybody else have Rashford? Is it just foolish to expect his conversion rate to return to some form of normalcy?
As it happens I've had him from the start and just ditched him on my WC (actually week before vs Liverpool). Decided to focus on the 'form' players as I was sticking fat with players and just middling along.
Can't say my WC was a raging success but did bring my first green arrow in a while.
My strategy has been to invest in good players and ditching players with bad fixtures like Salah which has paid off. Getting rid of Rasford for Auba and using Martial as cover has been a success. Also spending heavily in defence. I own the first 8 most highly owned players. If I ditch KDB for Mane that could really push me up the ranks if it pays off. It looks like it's going to be harder to get points now, fewer opportunities about.
