Recapping the best Manchester United players ahead of FPL restart

Our series of team-by-team refresher articles continues with a look at Manchester United, as the clock ticks down on the Fantasy Premier League resumption in June.

Taking data from Gameweeks 24-29 as a jumping-off point for wider discussion, we will be analysing the Red Devils’ prospects for the season run-in and pinpointing the Fantasy assets who could prosper in the remaining nine Gameweeks.

United certainly have one of the more appealing fixture schedules in Gameweeks 30+ to 38+, playing only one of the ‘big six’ and half a dozen of the clubs currently in the bottom half of the Premier League table.

In decent form shortly before coronavirus stopped play, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will also welcome back Marcus Rashford (£8.8m) and Paul Pogba (£8.3m) from injury when we recommence this month.

      I think Ederson is a waste of a City slot. They are not solid at the back anyway and there's been a scarcity of clean sheets in the Bundesliga since it's restart which you may want to take into account.

      I don't understand the Williams pick, downgrade Lunds -who isn't nailed anyway- to a cheaper SHU defender and upgrade him.

        Thanks so much for your reply, asking all the right questions.

        The Bundesliga insight is gold. Thanks. About that, Porto managed somehow to keep one CS last night but yes they've been rare in the Portuguese league as well, and together with the Bundesliga forget home advantage. Visitors are now fearless and overall getting back up to rhythm might take a while for everybody. Can only imagine how crazy it'll be at the EPL.

        As for the Lunds and Williams picks it has to with value tied in and cheap price, basically both enablers.

        As for Ederson the reasoning was that he's cheaper than Laporte, haven't Rei looked further.

        Again, appreciate your comment and will reconsider.

        As for the listed options which one would you go for just in case?

    Why are people taking about taking FH when we have unlimited free transfers? Am I missing a trick?

      Some people who only have the FH chip left (me) already set up their long term team using free transfers during the break and are using it to get a good dgw team that they won't be stuck with.

      They have a decent team now that they can revert to after W30+ FH. Plus won't lose team value. I have FH but gonna hit the unlimited transfers and TC in GW30+ and wait a few GWs before FH and WC.

      No trick at all. Depends if you like your current team going forward or have your second wildcard remaining. If yes to either one, a FH makes sense to load up on DGW players and then revert back to the old team (or wildcard out of it).

      It all depends on your current squad and remaining chips.

      If they dont have a second WC left

      If they are happy with there team from planning during the lockdown

      If they want to just forget some dross like Villa lads and still have a solid 11 against the bench boosters

      If they will lose too much value by making unlimited transfers and then spending money to get half their team back in a week.

      Many reasons mate.

      Because you will want to load up on DGW players this week. If you don’t have WC to transfer most out for 31 then FH the best option (particularly if your team pre any transfers looks good for 31 and beyond).

          As I said, I did this during the break and so my team is now set up for the rest of the season but not the dgw. By playing the FH I get a good dgw team but won't be stuck with it for gw31.

      Using the FH will mean you revert back to your pre-lockdown team for GW31+. Using the unlimited transfers could make you end up with a team of 3 Villa players for example and put you in a mess unless you have a WC. Unlimited transfers is a one off for this week only, and you can't use Unlimited transfers and a FH in the same week.

          Using it as a WC is a good idea if you haven't got one left. Of course I assume you'll be trying to get a balance for future weeks and this week. 3 Villa players would be madness if it wasn't for the fact I have a WC left to get rid next gameweek.

          Villa have more to play for than the other 3 doubles. That doesn't make them a better team than they are but I expect more risk takers than Grealish because a blanket defence sure ain't their strength.

      if you have a solid team currently with lots of value it makes sense to FH now...

      if you use unlimited transfers to fill a team of DGWers then you have less value when you WC in 31+

        Unless you keep those with the most value and manage bringing in the rest e.g. with BB gone you can afford to have more 3.9 fodder

        I have all chips and wildcard available but leaning towards using the FH chip as my team looks relatively strong for GW31 and it seems like a waste of a wildcard to use it just to get rid of players I just bought in.

        I also like to idea of keeping my wildcard for when more is known about team sheets and form.

      I think Targett is worth the punt over Mings at the same price. I'm going Cantwell over Saka for the double (think he has a decent chance of outscoring him) and then holding afterwards. You could then swap Patricio for Leno if you don't mind the defensive double-up. The rest is fine, Luiz a nice differential punt.

      In using transfers to build a BB team for ge30 but will also be good for a week or 2 weeks maybe. Use WC when a little form can be seen, he 32. FH last gw.

    My first GW of Fantasy Championship Manager was interesting:
    Bench Boosted but 4 regulars didn't play (Harte, Kewell, Dabizas, Given)!
    I did captain RVN for 30 points at least...this game might well trump FPL in the frustration stakes...loving it 😉

    How is it looking? I mean I'm not too sure about double Villa midfield but at least it covers bases for the AVL v SHU game, and they could easily score v Chelsea as fighting for survival.

    Other option is downgrade TAA to Targett and upgrade McGinn to someone like Fernandes or Ozil for a DGW...

    I haven’t seen many teams with Salah or Mane for GW30. They pumped Everton 5-2 last meeting in the league and won 1-0 win in FA Cup.

    What are your thoughts about not having Liverpool mids for GW30? They could easily out score a DGW rotation risk Man City and Arsenal player.

        That’s who I’m thinking too mate toss a coin out of them two I think, yeh makes sense for me I think and seems a waste of having unlimited free transfers of I use my FH this gameweek coz i slow wildcarded and my teams in good shape But I can tweak it now and use TC instead and save my BB and FH for later instead.

    Is this team team good enough to survive gw31+ without wildcard ?

    This means you get 2 games to give a fair assessment on form and fitness especially on game changing fpl players returning from injury like Kane Son Rashford Tammy Pulisic Sane etc.

    Feel like gw31 WC has kneejerk reactions written all over it.

    People with just BB and FH left. What's your strategy right now?

    My team looks great for 31+, so FH30 + could give 2 big weeks. But using BB later becomes a problem with rotation and games coming thick and fast.

    However, the UT team looks like this (no chips)

      I would BB. Off your squad it's worth and extra 5 players and no other DGWs are planned. And almost all of your players are ones that should do well for the remaining matches. Save the FH for an emergency , as most others are.

      Bench too light imo. Especially when games are coming thick and fast you need a decent bench

      How about Tammy over rashford. Use the extra 1.3 to upgrade mccarthy and 3.9 def.

        Cheers. Yeah for me it's Maguire who would be sacrificed, if I went for say, Taylor instead I can afford a full bench. I think Rash will be a key player in the run-in. I think at least Cantwell and Lascelles are nailed so I'd have to be a little unlucky to have 3 players benched in a GW, but stranger things have happened.

        I suppose I could do Cantwell to Luiz and a 3.9 to Kiko (who started the last few) then it's just the keeper to worry about and it doesn't affect my first 11. Do you think that's worth it?

    So it seems like a lifetime since I posted on here. Hope ye are well. I am totally out of the loop.
    So all the fixtures to 38+ are confirmed and a double in 30+ ?
    The bit I don’t understand is what other possible blank and dgws are there and when are the most likely. Are GWs 32+ And 35+ blanks based on FA cup dates that have been announced? Is there any indication when other dgws or blanks will be?

      The gw30 double is the only one. Different dates for cup-games. Only further postponements because of other reasons could result in blanks/doubles.

    Hey guys....

    My current team is fairly decent so dilemma is to use unlimited transfers and BB OR use a FH.
    Money tied up in TAA, KDB, Bruno, Jimenez, Vardy etc
    BB, WC and FH left

    Current:
    Henderson 3.9
    TAA Robertson Maguire Stephens Tanganga
    Salah KDB Bruno Sarr Dendonker
    Vardy Jimenez DCL

    Would be BB team keeping TAA, Bruno and Jimenez....

      Why not keep Vardy in your bb team? Vardy jim Aguero up top, could downgrade sterling to a sane or Mahrez or Silva
