Who are the best FPL captain options for Double Gameweek 30+?

Manchester City are the focus of the Double Gameweek 30+ captain poll.

Their assets have dominated the discussion boards for weeks since the fixtures were announced, and now it is time to make the big decision.

We’ve compared all the best options to help you chose the right one for your team…

Captain Poll

Kevin De Bruyne (£10.6m) is the current poll leader heading into today’s deadline, backed by 40.1% of voters.

With two matches and more minutes than any other outfield Manchester City asset this season, that is not a massive surprise at all.

The Belgian is top of the league for assists in 2019/20, with a total of 18, and his eight goals so far this campaign already matches his best tally in a Premier League season.

Not too far behind him is Sergio Aguero (£11.8m), who has garnered the support of 33.9% for the very same fixtures as De Bruyne.

The Argentinian has five goals in his last six against Arsenal and the same number in his last six against Burnley. He also started seven of the last nine matches before lockdown, suggesting that Pep Guardiola still favours him over Gabriel Jesus (£9.6m).

The gap between those two Manchester City options and the rest of the pack is rather large.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.1m) has come up in third place but still only managed to pull in the support of 6.2% of voters.

The Arsenal man is generally afforded more minutes than the average Manchester City asset, although there is a tight turnaround between fixtures in Double Gameweek 30+.

Either way, he is still in the Golden Boot race with 17 goals this season, two behind Jamie Vardy (£9.7m) and, if he were to bridge the 15-point gap between him and the Leicester man, he would be in with a chance of being the top-scoring FPL forward for two seasons in a row.

Jack Grealish (£6.4m) is a surprise inclusion in the top five for the poll results, but support for the Aston Villa man is understandable. He has 14 attacking returns this season, more than any colleague.

Raheem Sterling (£11.7m) completes the top five with the backing of 4.7%. We imagine the support for him is so small on account of his rotation threat and his poor form going into lockdown.

His last attacking return came in Gameweek 19 with his tally for the season standing at 13. The last two seasons have seen Sterling get up to 35 and 32 respectively, showing just how much of a struggle 2019/20 has been for him.

Nketiah more likely to get more minutes - he's played more generally under Arteta and more in the preseason, even if Gabi is better. Gabi mainly plays on left (where Auba plays) whereas Nketiah is through the middle (where a terrible season Laca plays).

Lads, need help with the "Free Hit" option

Let me quickly provide some context:
Team 1 (before Covid cancellations) + Team 2 (currently using unlimited transfers) + Team 3 (Free Hit played on Team 2)

    a. I plan to pursue Team 3 with Free Hit. When GW 31 comes along, then, Team 2 will be reactivated (Y/N)
    b. Team 2 not finalized, I click Free Hit --> then, Team 2 is fixed - changes allowed only in Team 3 (Y/N)

Would be great if you can help me with a quick (Yes/No) answer for the above 2 questions.

    Cheers

    Arteta's comments about Nketiah

'We treat Eddie as an important part of our squad,' Arteta said in a press conference on Monday.

'We had to make an important decision not to let him go on loan again after the spell he had at Leeds.

'I watched him train and I was very convinced he was the right player for us to move us to the next level, that he can contribute in a big way to the way we want to play. He has been fantastic so far.'

4.4m, BB could be gold 🙂

  20. KDB vs Aguero

    Captain Choice
    (tldr KDB trumps Aguero)

Given this is a BIG question this week,

I thought it might be helpful to take a closer look at the 2 most popular options

    Aguero Vs KDB

    Total Points:
    KDB 178
    Kun 124

    Total Bonus:
    KDB 23
    Kun 14

    Goals/Assists:
    KDB 8/18
    Kun 16/4

However, this is only of limited use as Kun missed 6 or so games before January through injury, so that comparison is void really.

Instead, lets take a closer look based on their minutes actually played this season to get a more accurate figure:

KDB acquired 1 point for every 12 minutes on the pitch approx
Kun acquired 1 point for every 11 minutes on the pitch approx

However, as KDB typically spends more time on the pitch when both are available, then he may have a slight edge overall here

So, who is more “explosive”? (14 points or more)
KDB - 4 occasions this season
Kun - 2 occasions this season

    Biggest single haul
KDB 19 points (vs Arsenal - tonight’s opponents)
    Kun 20 points (vs Villa)

    Double Digit Returns
KDB - 7 occasions this season
Kun - 4 occasions this season

Single Digit Returns (5 or more points)
KDB - 8 occasions this season
Kun - 6 occasions this season

So, in reality there probably is not much between them when you account for Aguero’s absence after the Chelsea game.

However, KDB probably has the edge in fitness, is a few years younger and played in both emphatic away victories against Burnley and Arsenal (albeit when Aguero was out and was playing more forward)

Given that he also scored twice and assisted (plus max Baps) vs gunners, and is more likely to play more minutes over both games, then I think he edges it.

The “explosive” factor is not as much in favour of Kun, if at all, as we may believe...

However, as 78% of people know, statistics prove nothing. I may still captain the Argentinian lol

I wouldn't say KDB trumps Aguero though... Take into consideration that Kun is a different player at home and away and City plays 2 home games. What worries me is game time -I would guess on Kun and Jesus getting 45 in each game, but hard to say what Pep has in plans.

I would punt on Sterling as I think he will get most minutes out of attacking players but on the other hand he doesn't play well at home this season and excels away. If I'm not mistaken he only scored once at home this season. But that may be just a coincidence and I'm seeing patterns that don't exist...

This is enough for me to go KDB.

Having Aguero and Sterling are enough for me as 'bold' City picks, with risk of minutes, and I want a captain guaranteed to get 60 mins in both games tbf.

Dont think there is any guarantee KDB gets that.

Could get 70 tonight, 20 vs Burnley and 80 vs Chelsea

i think the most important are points scored when together on pitch.
from what i can remember Jesus offers more points to others around him, as Kun is a finisher.

KdB cpt here...but an happy Kun owner anyway 😉
