Eliteserien Round 3 – Where has all the money gone?

We sit here on the eve of Round 4 in the Eliteserien still awaiting a Rosenborg win. Although they managed to score twice (will let them claim that own goal as their goal – I think they need it, to be honest) they remain winless, languishing above the relegation zone on a single point. You’d have to be more than brave to suggest they are in any real danger of dropping out of the division but at the same time, you’d be labelled something close to mad if you were to suggest they are in any way shape or form title contenders this season. Finishing third again has to be the aim – oh how the mighty have fallen.

I wanted to start by highlighting Rosenborg’s poor form because it plays into what I am looking at this week – are we getting our money’s worth? Are the most expensive players in the game worth investing in? Or can we find better deals elsewhere? If you are sitting there looking at your team and you have even one Rosenborg player, let me tell you… you’re being conned.

Three gameweeks in and we have already had eighty-four goals. That’s eighty-four goals in just twenty-four games. If you can’t be bothered to do the math, it means we’re seeing 3.5 goals a game. With games averaging over 20 shots, it’s hardly surprising we’ve only had 10 clean sheets from a possible 48. This league is full of goals which is what makes it to me so entertaining to watch. This is football 101 – get the ball and try and score. Put it in the back of the net and if you let one in, make sure to score another. It may not be to everyone’s taste but I love it.

Now on to what I want to talk about. How well are we, as Fantasy Football Managers, managing our finances? At the start of the season, we were given a 100mNOK budget and I’m interested in working where the majority of that money has gone. Have we focused too much on premium assets that we’ve sacrificed squad stability and balance, or have we prioritised building balanced, well-thought-out teams with as little of our budget being spent on big-ticket assets?

Some managers prefer to get as many premium players into their squads as possible. It may seem outrageous to some of us, after all, what if one of those big-name players doesn’t perform? Your rank can take a nosedive. Of course, when they do perform, they have such high ceilings it can often offset the risk so much it’s worth doing.

Other players (yours truly included) favour a more conservative approach in picking as few premium options as possible, as to afford more balance, adaptability and more importantly, point-scoring options who are more likely to grind out returns throughout the season, albeit with a much lower points-potential.

As far as I’m aware, these are the two most employed strategies when approaching with Fantasy Football – hold your cards close to your chest, biding your time, or throw caution to the wind and go all in. More often than not as the season pushes along, those who favour one approach might start to favour the other, being sure to be flexible in the face of change.

But the question still remains: do we buy the flashy convertible, throw back the roof, put metal to the floor and drive with the wind in our hair like we’re born to die, or do we buy a Volvo? Panache vs practicality.

The biggest argument I constantly hear against spreading the funds is that money tied up in your bench is wasted money. It’s a fair argument if you’re routinely going into gameweeks with over 20m in your benched players. The extra money could definitely go some ways to improving what you already have, but if you like to have back up players ready to go in case of any emergency or last-minute rotation, it’s not completely illogical. The main drawback of spreading funds around your team is that you are limiting yourself to have players with much lower ceilings, potentially yielding less points than you might otherwise get.

Anywho – onto the data. I will be looking at the Top 10 highest scoring assets in each position, grouping them into one of the four following categories:

Premium, Mid, Budget and Ultra-Budget.

The idea is to see what kind of correlation there is between player cost and points scored, to get a good idea of their true value. As ever we will look at % ownership to get a better idea of the lay of the land, but will not be evaluating who offers best points per minutes at this moment in time. I feel this is something for a future article much later in the season when we have more data at our disposal.

GOALKEEPERS

1) Makani (4.6m) 19pts [8.8%]

2) Myhra (4.5m) 17pts [11.0%]

3) Ahamada (6.0m) 14pts [3.0%]

4) Sandberg (6.0m) 13pts [21%]

5) Mbaye (4.5m) 11pts [7.3%]

6) Linde (6.0m) 10pts [9.4%]

7) Hansen (6.0m) 10pts [11.1%]

8) Klaesson (5.0m) 9pts [15.3%]

9) Mitov Nilsson (5.5m) 7pts [3.4%]

10) Khaykin (5.0m) 6pts [1.8%]

The goalkeepers sitting atop the pile are probably not who most would expect to see. Mjondalen’s Sosha Makani has conceded just once in three games, making ten saves and racking up 3 bonus points in the process. He’s been so good his ownership has grown by almost a factor of five since Round 1. More than half of Myhra’s points have come from one game in which he saved a penalty, made eight saves and got one bonus point. The 23 year-old Norwegian has made fifteen saves so far this campaign – the most in the division.

Overall, 6 out of the top 10 scoring goalkeepers are the most owned in the game, meaning we’ve done alright with our cash. While Linde and Sandberg owners will fully expect their number 1’s to top the points table come the end of the season, Makani and Myhra owners are getting far more bang for their buck right now.

Top 10 Scoring Goalkeepers Breakdown: 4 Premium, 3 Mid, 3 Budget

Premium goalkeepers seem to be slightly more consistent than any other bracket, but it’s hard to deny that mid-priced goalkeepers, for now, have the edge on their more expensive peers.

DEFENDERS

1) Gregersen (5.2m) 25pts [20.8%]

2) Hanche-Olsen (5.5m) 24pts [30.7%]

3) Nakkim (4.6m) 20pts [10.8%]

4) Haugen (6.5m) 17pts [5.2%]

5) Holmgren-Pedersen (5.5m) 16pts [12.3%]

6) Solholm Johansen (5.5m) 16pts [9.3%]

7) Kristiansen (5.5m) 15pts [6.3%]

8) Aasbak (5.0m) 15pts [9.5%]

9) Solheim (5.0m) 15pts [4.1%]

10) Dragsnes (5.0m) 15pts [3.2%]

Three of the top five highest-scoring defenders all play for Molde. This really shouldn’t come as much of a shock – they are hard to score against and being a very attack-minded team, their defenders are usually in on the action. Between them, Gregersen, Haugen and Holmgren-Pedersen have registered 5 attacking returns and 8 bonus points, despite only managing a solitary clean sheet.

Hanche-Olsen and Solheim are the two Stabaek defenders that make the top 10 – being one of only two teams (the other being Mjondalen) to keep two clean sheets in their opening three games. The former has been awarded two bonus points in each of his three appearances as well as getting a goal against Sandefjord. Mjondalen remain unbeaten and have conceded just once which means it should come as no surprise then to see three of their defenders in the top 10. Kristiansund’s Aasbak and Brann’s Kristiansen make up the numbers.

Overall, 2 out of the top 10 scoring defenders are the most owned in the game. Quite frankly, we’ve not done too well here. While some managers might be quick to point out high ownerships of ultra-budget defenders such as Vogt and Daland, they are the only two 4.0m defenders in the top 10 most-owned table.

Molde, Brann and Kristiansund defenders will be expected to continue to keep racking up the points, while it remains to be seen if the cheaper Mjondalen options will still be viable half-way through the season.

Top 10 Scoring Defenders Breakdown: 1 Premium, 8 Mid, 1 Budget

While we might be collectively looking in the wrong places, the good news is that mid-priced defenders are the ones bringing home the bacon right now and provide affordable options going forward.

MIDFIELDERS

1) Sandberg (7.6m) 29pts [17%]

2) Zinckernagel (8.2m) 28pts [32%]

3) Hauge (7.6m) 26pts [14.1%]

4) Pellegrino (9.1m) 26pts [16.8%]

5) Eikrem (12.6m) 22pts [45.2%]

6) Saltnes (7.5m) 20pts [23%]

7) Maigaard (8.4m) 19pts [5.7%]

8) Hove (5.5m) 19pts [1.0%]

9) Berg (4.5m) 18pts [30.3%]

10) Kassi (6.1m) 17pts [5.7%]

Free-scoring Bodo/Glimt are a team made of midfielders who love to score goals. And set up goals. And in general score fantasy points, as is made pretty obvious. Four of the top ten play for them and together they’ve earned a massive 92pts (23pts each). Considering that not one of them started the season priced any higher than 8.0m, that’s pretty ridiculous.

Niklas Sandberg has until recently been flying under the radar. Originally priced at 7.5m, you can certainly expect this number to keep on rising as he’s currently the second-highest scoring player in the game. A big part of his appeal is that he is on penalty kicks for Haugesund, and while his team have had an abysmal start to the season, he seems to be flourishing, scoring in every single game so far and getting an assist too.

Pellegrino’s 23pt haul against Aalesunds meant he went from being in slightly more than two thousand teams to nearly three times that in just one game week. His injury kept him out of Round 3, but due to his absurd haul still sits fourth in our list.

Eikrem has had a slow but steady start for his almost fourteen thousand owners, and a recent brace from Maigaard – earning him 14pts – has started to show he might be worth the money after all. Budget options Hove and Kassi have four attacking returns between them while BFP magnet Patrick Berg has managed to earn himself eight out of a possible nine bonus points in his first three games. He may only have scored once, but the BFP system clearly favours his industrious performances regardless of end product.

Overall, 7 out of the top 10 scoring midfielders are the most owned in the game which would seem to imply we know our midfielders somewhat better than our defenders. For whatever reason, we’ve been able to identify where the goals, assists and bonus points will be coming from a lot easier in midfield than in defence even though the legend himself Wolff Eikrem is just the fifth-highest scorer.

Top 10 Scoring Midfielders Breakdown: 2 Premium, 5 Mid, 2 Budget, 1 Ultra-Budget

Just like it was with defenders, it seems that the more reasonably priced options are not only offering the best value for money (something we’ll talk about in another article) but they’re actually scoring more points than their more expensive cousins. Patrick Berg has been criminally under-priced this season and represents ridiculous – utterly ridiculous – value for money at 4.5m, the cheapest starting price for midfielders.

FORWARDS

1) Junker (8.4m) 31pts [31.9%]

2) Borven (11.0m) 25pts [34.1%]

3) Bamba (9.1m) 24pts [19.1%]

4) Salvesen (8.6m) 19pts [22.4%]

5) Bringaker (5.6m) 18pts [8.4%]

6) Vilhjalmsson (8.0m) 17pts [18.7%]

7) Abdellaoue (7.4m) 15pts [4.1%]

8) Shuaibu (6.0m) 14pts [2.8%]

9) Fridjonsson (7.5m) 12pts [2.1%]

10= Ammitzboll (6.4m) 9pts [0.9%]

10= Omoijuanfo (11.1m) 9pts [9.1%]

10= Berisha (9.0m) 9pts [10.9%]

Somewhat unsurprisingly Kasper Junker is the highest-scoring player in the game. And owned by 31.9% of managers, his affordable services have not gone unnoticed. After his brilliant hat-trick against Haugesund at the weekend, he scored and set one up against Rosenborg in their famous 3-2 win in Trondheim on Thursday evening. He is a player that looks relentless in his charge for goals, points and acclaim – I am absolutely certain he will be up there with the likes of Borven and Eikrem come the end of the season, that is if he doesn’t leave the club. If he keeps up this level of brilliance he’ll undoubtedly start attracting clubs from around Europe in need of a leading man. Hopefully, for our sakes, he stays in Norway for at least until the end of the season.

Borven, Bamba, Salvesen and Vilhjalmsson were always expected to be amongst the highest scoring forwards (as their relative ownerships should imply) but it’s the inclusion of IK Start’s Bringaker and Mjondalen’s Shuaibu that catch the eye. The former has managed a goal every game even though he was only given 45 minutes against Molde, and 23 year-old Shuaibu will have delighted the few managers who chose him in their initial Round 1 squads, with the Nigerian scoring twice and earning two bonus points to sit just five points behind Stromsgodset’s Salvesen.

Newly promoted Aalesunds potentially have themselves a capable goalscorer in Icelandic international Holmbert Fridjonsson, who despite only being given just over two hours of football has managed to score two of his clubs five goals this campaign. Abdellaoue was given just fifty minutes of game time in Sarpsborg’s first two games before deciding to give him the full ninety against Stromsgodset – what a decision that turned out to be. The Norwegian forward bagged himself a brace and all three bonus points to end the evening on 13pts.

Ammitzboll, Ohi and Berisha have all scored once to complete the list. Despite playing 260 minutes of football Berisha has only managed to find the net once while Ohi – deputising for James against Rosenborg and Start – has looked lacklustre, lazy and wasteful in front of goal. His one bonus point against Rosenborg in particular seeming somewhat of a charity rather than a reflection of his performance.

Overall, 7 out of the top 10 (12) scoring forwards are the most owned in the game, with James, Strand Larsen and Ostensen making up the numbers. My only reservation with this conclusion is how many of the players above are there due to a single performance, which seems to skew overall value. Looking at the top 6 players (Junker to Vilhjalmsson) gives us a much better understanding of where to look for consistent forwards who are playing regularly and offer more structure rather than one-off performances.

Top 10(12) Scoring Forwards Breakdown: 5 Premium, 4 Mid, 3 Budget

As we have 3 players tied on 9pts, this has opened the door for the premium options to walk in and be counted. Even so, it’s quite obvious that yet again the mid-priced options provide a good supply of points, in the absence of financial ruin. While many of us will expect to see both Molde forwards, Bamba, Junker and Borven near the top of the scoring charts at the end of the season, it looks as though we might have a few cheaper alternatives not too far behind as well.

CONCLUSION

While premium options should not be ignored, it is clear to me that mid-priced and budget-priced options are a vital mainstay of this game. This is a marathon, not a sprint and will require us to sometimes look outside the realm of what the hivemind might think to be acceptable. It’s early days but we’re already catching glimpses of certain players who may prove to be the diamond in the rough we’re all so eagerly searching for.

The most expensive players in the game are, bar a few, playing their part in giving us our money’s worth. It’s to be expected – they’re priced that way for a reason. But it should be clear to anyone in two minds before reading this article that there are a lot of reasonably-priced alternatives who are, up to this point, outperforming their value and giving us something to think about.

Overall I think can agree the vast majority of us have spent wisely thus far, which should be received as a huge positive as it’s often the case that we find ourselves attracted to the shiniest, most useless things that prove to be false investments. Right now that doesn’t seem to be the case. Even if some of us are truly woeful at managing our finances in real life, it looks as though for now our Fantasy Football investments are paying dividends.

Appreciate you posting my article again. I'm always trying to provide relevant content but it's hard this early on.

In each of my posts so far I've noticed some grammatical mistakes which is somewhat frustrating, but at least if we the community can have some interesting discussions about what's going on in Norwegian football then that's fine by me.

I'm planning on revisiting this area of interest as well as what we talked about after GW2, around the mid-way point of the season. It'll be interesting to see what's changed and what that suggest is going to happen in the latter stages of the competition.

Still - cheers for posting, it's much appreciated.

Cheers. It's hard to offer too much insight at this early stage, but I feel like if we can at least try to generate talking points each week rather than just bland summaries of what happened in each game it'll make for more lively discussion.

I'm aware I have a few typos going on - I was up till 3am this morning writing this as the heat has been relentless in the UK this week. It's made for some quite sticky, uncomfortable evenings and not for the right reasons either!

Thanks bud. I only started playing Eliteserien last year and wished it got a bit more coverage on here so I just thought why not give it a bash?

Glad they're going down well - I'll definitely keep churning them out and as long as they're helpful enough then that's great.

    Best replacement for pellegrino?

    1. ReindeerHotdog

Take your pick from any of the Bodo/Glimt midfielders - seriously. Zinckernagel seems to be on pens, but Hauge is in my opinion the most gifted, talented, technically superior player in the league. He's leaving in mid-July so you'll get some more games out of him yet.

Other obvious answers would be Sandberg (essential in my eyes), Castro, Koomson. It depends on whether you have those or not and if you feel like getting a replacement from Kristiansund is the right tactic? Kalludra has a goal and an assist from two games, while Sorli managed the same feat but in a single fixture.

Maigaard is a tricky one - he scored two pens in his last game but the previous two he was so deep and out of the action he was anonymous. But he crops up on set-pieces so he may be worth looking into although I'd suggest not in all honesty. Better value for money elsewhere. Aalesunds Nordli is definitely flying under the radar - he's got 17 points and owned by less than 4% of players - he's scored once and got 2 assists, over the course of 3 separate games. Problem with getting him in, is that he's playing for a team most people assume will be relegated, so it's a case of fixture always being tough, but individual skill is good enough to get returns. He's one on my radar but I may not be jumping on the back of him just yet.

Cheaper options like Edvardsen and Hove you can't go wrong with. But without knowing what your team looks like, what your budget is and whether it's just for a week or two, it's hard to give decent enough advice to suggest one player over the other.

Thank you for your answer! I appreciate that! My bad for not giving my team. Mfs i have Eikrem, Sandberg, berg and saletros. Had castro and sold him before his haul and got pellegrino... i think i will go for Zinckernagel as he cam hurt me the most. Up front i have Bamba, borven and salvensen. Got 97 points last gw and if i had kept castro i would have crossed 100. One of the best performances!

    Great stuff, RH! 🙂

Defence is an area where I tend to just pick 5 players and stick with them. I've been playing Eliteserien fantasy three years now and it's much more common to see weekly 2-pointers from your defenders than getting six - let alone bonus and/or attacking returns.

There are exceptions, ofcourse, such as the time when everyone had double (sometimes even triple) Brann defence, or the legend that is Alexander Stolas, but generally speaking, using transfers for a defender is something I try to avoid in #ESNFantasy.

Quite happy with my team for Gameweek 4 after bringing in two extra Bodo players for free and on the subject of money spent... well, I have 3.3m in the bank, haha. Pellegrino is a key target once he's fit and firing again!

Eikrem (C) and Zinckernagel (VC) this week. 🙂

Cheers mate. Glad you're finding them to be helpful.

Defenders do seem to be where we're losing out on points, mainly because clean sheets are so hard to predict and then you'll get games where the champions, Molde, score 3 and they're all goals scored by 3 different defenders!

I think that's what makes this game a bit more interesting. Although right now not having 3 B/G players seems like suicide!

Glad that's the case - that's the idea. I think it's a great league and there's some really enjoyable football to watch along with participating in the game.

This a league where scoring is prioritised over keeping clean sheets and that suits me down to the ground. I do appreciate good defensive football but at the same time it's great to see a game in which 8 goals are and then in the return fixture it could be 6-2 the other way or a 0-0 draw. It's mad.

My aim is to write an article after every single GW highlighting a different element of the game (although I will revisit what I've discussed here and last week in more detail when we have more information to go off).

With the way Rosenborg have been capitulating I think it's just a matter of time before I dedicate an article to them. As much as I love them, it's been so hard watching them play so far this season.

Some decisions to make this week might cover a few guys that will increase in price.

Transfers this week probably cost me 8 points

    Acosta > Gregersen
    Donnum > Sandberg
    Strand Larsen > Junker
Maigaard > Taylor ( i made the reverse move week before how bad that turned out)

Im in two minds about the maigaard transfer might keep taylor and upgrade my third striker from Hellum to Bringaker

    Team Stands

    Rossbach

    Bjorkan Gregersen Holmgren Pedersen

    Eikrem Berg Ibrahimaj Maigaard Sandberg

    Borven Junker

    Lie, Bojang, Nasberg, Hellum

I wouldn’t get Maigaard in personally, but Gregersen, Sandberg and Junker for those other donnies is a must. But as you have HP already, I’d look at Solheim/Aasbak but tbf Gregersen is really good value.

yeah i think ill give it a few more weeks on maigaard probably better value players at the moment. Gregersen is value with molde will look dangerous in full swing and before the european matches start might be a chance to get some points if they start keeping clean sheets.

      Maigaard scored two penalties.
      2 shots on target.
      2 key passes
      4/6 long passes successful
      1/4 crosses successful
      2 shots blocked
      0 dribbles attempted
And he was mainly in his own half for the majority of the game.

I'd be avoiding him because even though he might offer SOME good stats, overall he seems incredibly over-priced. I think you'll be kicking yourself for backing Bjorkan as B/G have the midfielders you want! JPH or Zinckernagel = easy choices. Even Saltnes to be honest!

RH - You have watched a game or two from Brann right? If I remember right you were hyping up Koomson. So what are your thoughts on him now? Worth for long term? I know it is hard to tell after just few games but Im personally already planning to move him on but I’m not sure. His stats don’t look too good, 0 big chance created and 1.0 key passes and shots per game. Stats say get rid but what does your eye say? I’m gonna give him another chance against your RBK but he might be rested so doesn’t look good.

    Thoughts?

    Moves that I’m thinking:

    Roll the FT this week.

    Next week:
    Salvesen —> Bringaker
    Koomson —> Pellegrino
    Saltness —> Zinckernagel (If needed)

Passed eye test GW1. Followed that up with goal GW2. BFP in both games. Third match against Aaelsunds - wasn't optimistic to expect a return.

The guy has more to offer than he has done so far, but he may just be that guy who puts in a shift, works his socks off, but ultimately doesn't get the end product. He's still only 25 - it's hard to say.

If you're looking for similarly priced alts I'd say Nordlii is a good shout or Hove has looked really, really effective in the last couple of games.

If you're adamant you want to get rid of Salvesen to bring in Pellegrino I'd do that. I would just perhaps be cautious about how much game time he'll be given after he's declared fit. I'm not 100% convinced he'll be playing full games but I might be entirely wrong.

Where did you read Koomson might be rested? If he is then that definitely adds complications for myself. On the fence to get rid of Donnum for Zinckernagel for a hit - to be honest, Donnum has been pants the last two games.. wouldn't be surprised if he was rested too!

And I don't want anyone to think I'm oblivious of the stats, I'm more of the mindset they are going to be far more useful later on down the line where we can see actual trends and extrapolate useful info.

3 games isn't enough. Abdellaoue should be evidence of that alone. It will be something I'll write about in the coming weeks, I'm actually in the process of collating that information. Having it on a website is one thing, but trying to manipulate yourself is another.

Don't forget we've invested a lot of stock in Pellegrino after one brilliant game. Against Rosenborg his stats are not that inspiring:

0 goals, 0 assists, 0 shots on/off target/blocked, 1 failed dribble attempt, 31 touches, 61% pass rate, 3 crosses and 1 long ball all failed to reach their target and lost the ball 15 times. He was sensational the next game but who amongst would have thought KBK would score 7 in one game?

I have said I think Pellegrino is one of the most exciting players in the league. I stand by that. But I think he will certainly blow hot and cold, so I'd be getting ready for that. 10G, 3A last season saw him end up on 118pts - so he's clearly a player who can get you points, but he does have those 6 and 7/10 performances in which he'll do what Koomson does but perhaps slightly better but still not get attacking returns.

If Pellegrino and Koomson were evenly priced, nobody would pick Koomson. Obviously. That's what you get for 2.0m extra. Look at the difference between Koomson and Bohinen for example. Or Koomson and Lundemo/Stengel - you get what you pay for more often than not. And it's obviously that age old classic - form over fixture. Playing Rosenborg at home right now is one of the best fixtures you could ask for - if he's guaranteed a start I'd be struggling to get rid of him especially as Meling is missing the game through suspension.

Apologies if you feel like I over-hyped the guy, I was just expressing my thoughts on his performances from what I saw first hand.

        Good points.

And I appreciate giving your thoughts on player and team performances as I can’t do it myself. Wasn’t over-hyping at all.

Its true there is no need to rush and I should give Salvesen some time as he has done nothing wrong and looks good by stats. Pellegrino might take time to get to full fit, so again, no need to rush.

I’m just getting trapped by Zinckernagel. I really want him, I feel like he is amazing value for money and plays for a team that loves scoring goals (My favourite team in Norway after last years superb season). Maybe I just have to stick with Saltness and hope for the best. His stats are good, but not as good as Zinckernagel, and he is on pens as well.

Played with the idea of getting rid of Eikrem but he is just too consistant and possibly a perma-captain.

Sensible move would be to downgrade Stølås but idk. And maybe I have different problems next week, who knows.

I am torn between shipping one of Donnum or Koomson (if he's a rotation risk now) for Zinckernagel.

He's great value, high ownership and pens. I'd rather have him than Eikrem. But that's because I like spreading the cash around. I don't want him from now on - want more balance.

You said Koomson might not start - where did you read that?

I kinda agree with Eikrem. I like Zinckernagel more and I don’t think Eikrem will outscore him by much anyways...

And sorry if I was missleading, read somewhere in twitter that someone from Brann said they have to keep on rotating but didn’t say that it was Koomson for sure.

Ah OK no worries. Just one of those things, if Koomson isn't playing then it's easily a case of shipping Donnum for Zinckernagel.

There's that risk of falling further behind by not having the players everyone else has especially if they're the ones scoring.

If I do swap Donnum just watch him get a hat-trick tonight...

We'll know the Odd Team Line Up before the deadline
Admittedly I took Borven when I WildCarded last Runde as I thought their whole team looked poor
His Hat-trick last week begs the question...
    Ohi to Borven this week?
    (K) is on Jun(K)er

On salveseen at the moment for capt but keep swapping back and forth with junker, I think either way it should work out ok .

I'm on WC and really can't decide on BG players. Currently on Berg, Junker and Hauge, but don't feels right going without Zincker... What to do?

Zinckernagel would be the first B/G player in my squad if I was on WC. Hauge is an interesting one. Of course he'll score points, but whether he'll be the best option in his price bracket up until the time he leaves is up for debate. If you fancy Hauge, I like the look of Zinck & Hauge (this is what I currently have). Junker depends on money spare once that decision is made. Berg depends on whether you plan on playing 5 in midfield - I don't own because I'm prioritising: Zinck, Hauge, Eikrem, Sandberg, Edvardsen.

So I should give up Berg or Junker to get Zincker but really can't decide on that. I like Berg because he's by far the best option under 5m and Junker seems like a must at 8.4 while being the target man for the most attacking team in the league...

What are your thoughts on Sarpsborg? They are at the bottom with only 2 goals scored so far.

I’ve been looking a bit more in depth of the performances of the teams and realized that Sarpsborg hasn’t played bad, according to stats at least. Stats suggest they should be 6-8 best team in the league. But that hasn’t been the case. Why? Horrendous finishing. Most big chances missed in the league.

Anyone interested in Mostafa Abdellaoue? He is in the top 10 of all shots per game, big chances created and big chances missed. You could argue he is even on pens as he took one last game and scored (After Halvorsen had alteady missed one). 7.4 and after Bodo & Brann Sarpsborg has a decent run of fixtures.

Has anyone watched Sarpsborg play? Are actually as bad as the league table suggests? Am I just thinking too much?

I don't think they're that bad at all. 3 narrow losses, 1 due to giving away 2 penalties which won't happen every week. They looked like a very limp side in their first couple games, although Ofkir & Salétros both showed potential. Bringing Mos into that side made a big difference in my eyes, he probably should have had a hattrick but was lively throughout. If I had a striker spot to fill (currently 3-5-2 with James/Ohi & Bamba), I'd be punting on Mos from GW6 (providing that he looks nailed on).

Didn't realize they had been that unlucky or his stats were so high , would it be worthwhile swapping him with one of Bamba or salveseen in a couple of weeks as I have Junker but he looks like a season keep at the moment.cheers

I haven't been entirely convinced by Salvesen so far. 2 assists last game both from blocked shots. 1 assist in the opening game was a scuffed shot. I'd keep an eye on both Salvesen & Mos then reassess in a few weeks.

Good stuff RH! This is the hardest, and arguably the most coincidental, part of the game: does one pick the right "certain players who may prove to be the diamond". Also the most rewarding part of the game if one happens to make the right choices. I still grumble for not buying Haaland early enough the other year! 🙂

      Brilliant!

Coincidentally me and the missus bought a car pretty much the week before lockdown (UK) and we almost got an XC60. Until we saw a CR-V with a wonderful huge boot and all mod-cons.

Ended up switching at the last minute so even though in my mind I wanted to be boring, I ended up slightly less so a day later..

Haha! I own a 1964 Triumph Herald Convertible, not original though. Once upon a time I met an English guy at one pub and we started chatting. Then I asked "What kind of a car do you drive" and he answered "I have a Saab". Which was pretty disappointing. 🙂

Making the decision to keep Ohi for the time being. A small chance of a start on the wing, even if James plays. A good chance he'll get 20-30 minutes off the bench vs. tired legs. A decent chance he starts next GW against rivals KBK regardless of his contribution vs. Stabaek.

Will reassess prior to GW6 depending on James & Ohi's minutes, contribution, & relevant substitutions (whether one is subbed for the other or Ohi takes a place on the wing if/when subbed on).

    Last minute transfer decision guys...

    I'm torn between:
    either
    Donnum to Zinckernagel
    Koomson to Zinckernagel
    for -4pt hit.

If either Donnum/Koomson score, then Zinckernagel is gonna need bonus points or to do more than that. Feels like an unnecessary risk to me, but the allure of having Zinckernagel in my team is strong it's very hard to suppress.

I have Hauge and Junker so I feel it's enough, though I am very aware of Donnum and Koomson underperforming thus far (with returns).

I feel like keeping them both for this week is the best decision overall.
Viking have faced 47 shots in just 3 games, conceding 8. They were a far better team than Valerenga last season but haven't started out that way. Not sure - I'm happy taking a hit every now and then but this has me stumped.

Did you do your wc last game week or decided to let it roll for a bit longer, me personally I would take out koomson for Zinckernagel as he seems to be involved in pens and is getting returns each game at the moment .

I wildcarded but took a chance on not getting Zinckernagel as I thought Rosenborg away would be a good game to avoid B/G assets. Didn't work out too well for me.

I brought in Ohi too - thought I'd capitalise on him being guaranteed a start and goals. Catastrophic. Already moved him for Junker.

So now it's a case of doing a -4 hit for either Donnum or Koomson. Thing is, I like Koomson and Brann. He's so cheap and that extra 1.4/1.5m is very helpful.

    P Ulvestad, Kalludra, Sorli, Askar

(I'm writing these out as per fantasy positions - some of the midfielders are actually playing as forwards, but for the sake of keeping it consistent with Fantasy positions I'll keep it the same).

Fridjonsson may get a start up front for Aalesunds.

Sell potentially gets a start for Mjondalen who might go to 5 at the back?
Ibrahim looks set to continue up front.

This isn't infallible information, but last round this guy 174/176 right. He's estimating he'll get around 90% correct this time so don't take it as gospel.

Vilsvik, Gunnarsson(75%), Leifsson, Mickelson (Parr may not feature)
    Hove, Ipalibo Jack, Maigaard, Tokstad(75%)
    Salvesen, Mawa
