Son or Kane? Which FPL asset can best capitalise on Spurs’ appealing fixtures?

Harry Kane‘s (£10.5m) end to the 2019/20 season suggests he could be the key asset for those looking to tap into Spurs’ appealing fixtures this time around.

Jose Mourinho’s men sit second on the Season Ticker for attacking potential over the first six Gameweeks, based on their opponents.

During this period they host Everton, Newcastle and West Ham while they’re road trips take them to Southampton, Manchester United and Burnley.

Spurs players had not appeared in too many Fantasy Premier League drafts before Thursday’s fixture release, but now that we know the schedules, Mourinho’s charges have become more popular.

As Fantasy managers search for the best way to invest in Spurs’ attack, Son Heung-min (£9.0m) and Kane are the front-runners, currently sat in 18% and 14.5% of squads respectively.

Ahead of the new season, we have compared how these two attackers performed during Project Restart. As this uses Opta data, only those with a valid Fantasy Football Scout subscription can access it in full.

What were Son and Kane’s average positions?

Anyone recommend players that could be considered for 6m or less that will be starting in my main 11. Currently have West Broms Periera in.
    Team is McCarthy
    Robbo, TAA, Doherty
Son, Ziyech, Salah, Periera(at the moment)
    Ings, Mitrovic, Jimenez
    Subs: Nyland, Johnson, Ferguson, Soucek

Starting week in week out as a mid below 6m is always risky.
Only ones who would take my fancy are Armstrong for his nice fixtures and possibly Saka if he starts for his first 2.
Other then that the only forward would be Mitro.

There’s quite a lot of good defenders options tho

    McCarthy
    TAA / Saliba / Justin / Davies
    Salah / Armstrong / Auba / Son
    Mitrovic / Werner

    Button / Fergusons / Brewster / Greenwood

I watched a youtube video of Ricky Van Wolfswinkel just after he joined Norwich, he looked incredible tearing defences apart in Holland.

It was seven years ago. Lets look na last imoprts. Allireza - bust, Propper - rotational player for Brighton, Depay - bust, Sanchez - rotation player for Spurs, Daley Blid just average. The only player who has been looking good is Wijnaldum, but he is unfit from FPL perspective.

Been looking at the fix predictions (for what they are worth) and some interesting names popped up, when i worked out value (Wk1-9 points divided by price). For blanking players, i used Wk2-9. In descending order of value (predicted ppm).

GK: Martinez >> Ryan, Lloris, Guaita, Patricio, McCarthy.

DEF: Vinagre >> Justin, Morgan, Doherty, Lindelof(!?), Gomez, VVD, TAA, Aurier, Maguire, Robbo, Coleman

MID: Greenwood, Soucek & the 3 liverpool CMs(!?) >> Rashford, Pereira, Bruno, Son, Salah, Tielemans, KdB, Redmond, Mane, Mahrez, Ziyech, Moura, Mount, Siggy. Interestingly Auba & Sterling dont really feature from a value perspective.

FWD: Ings, Rodriguez, Martial, Antonio, Bamford, Ayew, Mitro, Maupay, Jimmy, Wood, Kane, Vardy. Again, interestingly Werner features much further down the list alongside everton forwards & Firmino.

Some interesting names there, hopefully gives some ideas outside of the usual template options.

Yes, I think he's a good pick with good fixtures and less torturous than Mitro etc.

Best WBA option by a country mile

Fixtures aren't great but he'll be involved in the majority of goals they score

20 assists and 8 goals last season!

Struggling to see myself captaining Werner with Salah, Auba/KdB and Bruno in midfield.

9.5 could very well be a great price but just feel like there may be more value in the Chelsea mids?

Leaning to the same idea. 9.5 is a lot, whereas 8 for Ziyech is easier to stomach if he flops

As the highest owned forward, I'm quite happy to take a punt in him, knowing it won't hurt too much if he flops, but could be brutal if he fires and I don't own.

If he doesn't fire, then it's an easy swap to Martial

This is a great point, undoubtedly the price point feels right - I guess it comes down to a choice of a 3rd premium midfield option or 1 premium striker.

    A) Werner Greenwood
    B) Martial, Ziyech

    Another challenging one...

Fair enough - I'd lean towards A probably. Better having 2 forward players than a forward and attacking mid

    Thoughts on this.

    McCarthy.
    Doherty, Vinagre, TAA, Justin.
    Salah, Auba, Mount, Armstrong.
    Vardy, Werner.
    Button, Gordon, Ferguson, Vassilev.
    0.0m ITB.

The plan is to bring KDB and Bruno in. Unless one of Salah/Son/Ziyech hits the ground running, then it's WC and back to the drawing board.

    Werner Jimenez

    Fabri Dallas Davis Foden

Werner may become Martial in GW2.

is Sheff U v Wolves the most obvious 0-0 ever or am I being an idiot?

1-1 would be a disaster start here:

    McCarthy
    TAA Doherty Vinagre Basham O'Connell
    Mane(c) Salah Auba Gordon (Greenwood)
    Mitro

thinking I could be on for at least 2 clean sheets, and 4 would be huge - of course if it is 2-2 or something I'm getting about 30 points 😀

      totally unbalanced side.
what do you do when, say one of the 8.5-10.5 strikers scores a brace wk1?
inevitably what happens is all the best laid out templates and ideas are thrown away to shoehorn that player in (rightly or wrongly). a lot it is the sway of price rises/falls that adds to the herd mentality as well.

if you start with a team like that, you are asking for that problem.

ever heard of not jerking every time someone scores a few points? I'm going 451/541 with a cheap striker until I need to captain someone, and the only forward I would ever captain is Aguero, which I'm not going to do whilst Jesus is sniffing about

Thoughts on this current pre-season draft

    McCarthy
    TAA Vinagre Dier Saliba
    Aubameyang Salah Son Saint-Maximin
    Werner Jiminez

    Nyland Soucek Ferguson Davis

Could downgrade soucek to a 4.5m, which gives me a bit of extra flexibility going forward.

My favourite draft yet - No Salah does worry me but that £12m does ruin my team.

    McCarthy
    Trent - Dier - Stevens
    Auba - Ziyech - Armstrong - Soucek
    Kane - Vardy - Mitrovic

    Nyland - Vinagre - Justin - Greenwood
