Hall of Fame number one Fábio Borges joins Fantasy Football Scout for 2020/21

We at Fantasy Football Scout are delighted to announce that we’ve added yet another high-profile name to our all-star cast of contributors for the 2020/21 season.

And Fantasy Premier League managers don’t come much more illustrious than Fábio Borges, who currently sits atop our Career Hall of Fame.

You’ll need a pretty impressive season history to claim first place in those rankings and Fábio boasts an incredible track record of five successive finishes in the top 5,000 of FPL.

Two of those have been inside the top 1k, with his best-ever overall rank of 95th recorded in 2018/19.

Fábio has never finished outside the top 20,000 in six seasons of playing the game and, just to underscore his prowess, he was also the winner of Ragabolly’s inaugural Virtual FPL competition over the summer.

The Lisbon resident will be involved with Fantasy Football Scout in a Pro Pundit capacity and will be writing articles throughout the season.

Fábio follows site founder Mark Sutherns in joining our star-studded team of contributors, which includes some of the best FPL managers in the world.

The likes of Lateriser, Zophar and Tom Freeman, who have multiple top 1k finishes between them, have come aboard for another year and we are thrilled that they will be writing for us once again in 2020/21.

While there will be our usual offering of free content from these elite names, only Premium Members of Fantasy Football Scout will get unrestricted access to all of their analysis and team reveals.

    Lads, I think I like my team/strategy, but I've got one thing left to decide and I'd love to hear your thoughts.

    Here's how it is as of now:

    A) McCarthy / Nyland
    TAA / Doherty / Vinagre / Dallas / Saliba
    Salah / Aubameyang / Ziyech / Armstrong / Gordon
    Werner / Jiménez / Davies

    Gameweek 1: Ziyech to Greenwood
    Gameweek 2 or 3: Auba to KDB

    Now, I could ditch Ziyech and bench Greenwood, and start with a 5-3-2 like this:

    B) McCarthy / Nyland
    TAA / Doherty / Vinagre / KWP / Saliba
    Salah / Aubameyang / Armstrong / Gordon / Greenwood

      Are you content not having bruno in your team? Also I dont think you should double up on wolves defenders.Think you should swap doherty for a cheaper defender and invest in midfield...also Saliba not nailed on.

    I may well BB GW1 and WC GW2. This is very unlike my usual style but from reading the pro pundit articles they mention it’s important to be flexible. There are arguments for and against this approach and I think both are valid. Blocking out the “noise” I feel like it’s a good call. Not sure if I’ll hold my nerve up until deadline though.

      Hard to stick with the plan, but thats essentially my plan. Not sure if I will WC for GW2 or GW3, I'd prefer to wait for GW3 really.

      Heres the bench boost team I came up with so far:
      Ryan - McCarthy
      TAA - Robbo - Egan - Vinagre - Dier
      Soucek - (A)uba - Son - Salah - Armstrong
      Adams - Mitrovic - Antonio

        If TAA's injured actually I could swap TAA for Doherty, keep 1.5itb for Son>Bruno. Then WC in GW3, thats probably smarter.

          You wont get any support here really for bench boosting. Its like asking people what they think of a differential captian pick, they all say no.
          Its a gut move, you cant ask the masses.

          Last couple of seasons I considered it in GW1 both times and didnt do it, this time I am. Without City and Man U options to worry about, it makes a balanced 15 more affordable. Therefore the lack of those two teams makes it perfect for BB imo.
          Plus I always put too much emphasis on doubles, end up messing my team up for a double which is largely uninspiring.

            Similar thinking. I will want five/six Man City / Man Utd / Burnley players post GW1 which means either carefully navigating my way through transfers each week (will likely be priced out on some for starters) or WC GW2/3 and getting the team I actually want. If I’m taking that approach I feel a BB in GW1 with an unusual team structure to maximise my bench is a good call.

              Yea, and with players like Antonio and Soucek they have garbage fixtures, however their GW1 fixture is nice. I would only consider them based on GW1 and woudlnt want either after that, so it opens the door to them as well.

              I'll never recommend our strat to anyone, and if you listen to people here you will be swayed off of it.
              I think im mainly just going to log out of FPL, and only go back in to switch about a couple of players based on whos likely to start etc.

              GL if you do it in the end, I will look for you around the time :p

                Yes he has 3 due to having Robbo and TAA.

                He can rotate between the budget midfielders instead of being stuck with a 4.5 mid.

                I reckon he has a very well balanced team.

                    He can get in Doherty by downgrading Robbo.

                    This is why I like his setup. Easy switches with no hits upgrading your budget players. Just bring in the ones which are in for no hits needed 🙂

          Im not a Greenwood fan. Think Bruno is like 12.0 mil heavy hitter. Martial and Rash better than him too but its only my opinion.
          But your plan looks like 3 moves so I would start witch cheaper def from the off and bank some money for those moves.

      I actually like your team. If Adams does not perform then easy switch to Mitro vice versa.

      Same with your 2 x 5.5 mids. If they do not perform then there other 5.5 mids you can swap out without messing up your team.

      Well balanced I would say.

    Think I'm going for some flexibility for the start. GW1:

    McCarthy (4.0)
    TAA Vinagre Justin Ferguson (Taylor)
    Salah Auba Armstrong ASM (Rashford)
    Kane Mitro (4.5)

    Leaves 1.0 itb.
    Auba -> KDB leaves 0.5 more itb.
    Kane -> Werner easy move if he adapts, 2.5 itb.

    That can be further invested in either
    defense (4.5 -> Robbo)
    midfield (Rash -> Bruno, ASM -> Ziyech)
    or forward (Mitro -> Jimenez/Ings)

    Sound reasonable enough?
