Fantasy Football Scout to partner with Football Index for the 2020/21 season

Sponsored by Football Index

Fantasy Football Scout are delighted to announce that we’ll be joining forces with Football Index in the upcoming season.

We’ll be producing weekly articles throughout 2020/21, while there will also be regular segments on our Scoutcast and plenty more coverage besides.

If you’re new to Football Index, think of it as a revolutionary betting platform that works a bit like a virtual stock market.

Similar to player prices in Fantasy Premier League, the aim is to bet on the future value of the players when the price is low and then sell on when the value is high – the key difference here being that traders can profit from their ability to spot a bargain who is about to hit the big-time.

Fantasy managers can use their expertise to anticipate the on-field success of their assets in question, with dividends awarded for goals, clean sheets, assists and a whole host of underlying stats, from shots on target and accurate crosses to aerial duels won and tackles.

This is where the data in our Premium Members Area can really come into its own and give Fantasy Football Scout subscribers the heads up on which players could prosper on match days.

But that’s not all: along the way, traders win media dividends for positive headlines written about their players, so it’s worth keeping an eye on off-the-field events as well.

Like all betting platforms, the rules are fairly straightforward, and the nuances become more familiar with time.

We’ll be back over the weekend with a more detailed guide on how to play Football Index but head over to their website now for more information and tips on how to turn Fantasy prowess into a successful portfolio.

And don’t forget: this is trading with real money, so always gamble responsibly.

I have been a trader on Football Index for about 20 months now and have made about 75% return on investment, despite trading quite poorly at times; I know many traders who have achieved well in advance of this figure.

Although it is becoming harder to make profit as the platform grows, I still think that there is lots of money to be made and I would highly recommend this platform.

I am very excited to see what the future holds in this partnership between two of my favourite websites.

I've been on it for over a year. Put in 1 grand that I received from my company shares (i.e. Money I wouldn't be distraught about losing). Lots of ups and downs, but currently at around 2100. Not bad at all, but I find it a lot more time consuming than I'd like.

      Regarding Football Index.

It's fun and I enjoy the format. But it's also important to remember at all times that it is gambling. No more, no less.

I say this because the format of FI adopts a lot of the ideas and terminology of stock markets. Which can lead *some* people to think it's something more than it is.

Most notably, I saw one particular person argue that it was essentially the same as investing, carried similar risk and was a legitimate alternative to the financial products offered by banks. Which, needless to say, is the opinion of someone who is financially illiterate. Don't listen to that guy and definitely don't *be* that guy.

Also worth noting that FI is due to introduce order books to the platform shortly. Something that will immediately impact player prices. Worth bearing in mind before you put in any money....

Most other traders that I know who have been invested in the platform for 2 years or more have returns in excess of mine; I have been a poor trader at times.

This level of growth is unsustainable and will most definitely slow. People joining FI nowadays have missed the boat, in terms of gaining almost guaranteed profit, as has been the case previously.

Depends what you mean by "come out on top".

Currently I'm in profit. But I can't actually sell to take out that money until the new system comes in, unless I want to do so at a loss. And that new system will see prices drop anyway, at least immediately. So it's hard to determine the actual value of what you have on the platform.

Plus you have to keep in mind that those who joined early benefitted from a growing platform inflating prices. Obviously they're spending money on marketing to ensure it keeps growing but there's no real guarantee of the pace. Very much a "past returns are no guarantee of future performance" situation.

It is 100% gambling. It's just a format of gambling I happen to enjoy more than others. And one that a lot of people who like FPL will probably enjoy too.

Which is a positive if you approach it in a sensible way, recognising it for what it is. But potentially a negative if you don't.

@Sully29 You are only 'in profit' if you can take out your money currently at that price, so therefore you need to use the sell price (not the buy price) of your players to decide if you are in profit or not. The actual value of your portfolio in my eyes, is the value that you could sell all your players at and walk away, at this moment in time.
As I've said above, there was very rapid growth initially, and whilst the rate of growth will inevitably slow, I expect that growth will still occur.

@MiguelSanchez Yes this definitely is gambling.

Yep, exactly. But the actual platform itself displays your profit as a function of the purchase price, which is misleading. That's what I meant when I said it depends on how you define "come out on top".

If you're new it would be easy to have bids accepted in between the sell and buy price, see a lot of green and think you're winning.

I heard similar stories to this, before I joining FI around 2 years ago.

Since joining, I have made around 75% in 20 months, so ignoring these red flags seems to have at least worked for me.

Yep, because you got in early. As did I. But as you said above, that level of growth is unsustainable. So people entering *now* having heard those reports of huge profits made buy people who literally didn't know what they were doing should be forewarned.

        Would argue that it is just as close to a stock market than gambling;
        - Can't really lose all your stake unless a player dies/retires/FI go bust (just like if a company went bust)
        - You have Market Makers
        - You have buy and, shortly, sell orders
        - You make money from dividends (multiple ways; media, perform, inplays, bonuses) just like shares
        - You make money from Capital appreciation
        - Share splits

And im far from financially illiterate - its classic risk/reward. Riskier product, but higher rewards (than your 0.5% ISA)

I think, due to the circumstances, that FPL should allow us to make an extra transfer (without a -4 hit),if a player that we own must be quarantined.

Close to exit: Bellerin, Kolasinac, Sokratis, Torreira
Potentially leaving: Holding, Chambers, Mustafi, Guendouzi, Elneny, Ozil, Lacazette

Huge summer clear out to afford Partey & Aouar alongside Gabriel. Willian for free & Ceballos again on loan are also smart signings who will fit in well in the team.
Let's get those deals done quick and continue rebuilding!

i’m tempted to punt on Podence personally, loved how he played at end of last season, obviously losing Doherty is a big negative but would sooner have a nailed a podence(if that’s possible) rather than an ASM or an Armstrong

Only one i can see is you can't jump on a cheap midfielder in hot form.

Nothing else. Defenders definitely good value over most of cheaper midfielders.

Simply put, you're missing out on two spots which could be midfielders. You decide whether that's a problem, but typically midfielders have the best chance of getting hauls because of their extra point per goal compared to forwards (hence why 3-5-2 is popular)
