Fantasy Football Scout to partner with Football Index for the 2020/21 season

Sponsored by Football Index

Fantasy Football Scout are delighted to announce that we’ll be joining forces with Football Index in the upcoming season.

We’ll be producing weekly articles throughout 2020/21, while there will also be regular segments on our Scoutcast and plenty more coverage besides.

If you’re new to Football Index, think of it as a revolutionary betting platform that works a bit like a virtual stock market.

Similar to player prices in Fantasy Premier League, the aim is to bet on the future value of the players when the price is low and then sell on when the value is high – the key difference here being that traders can profit from their ability to spot a bargain who is about to hit the big-time.

Fantasy managers can use their expertise to anticipate the on-field success of their assets in question, with dividends awarded for goals, clean sheets, assists and a whole host of underlying stats, from shots on target and accurate crosses to aerial duels won and tackles.

This is where the data in our Premium Members Area can really come into its own and give Fantasy Football Scout subscribers the heads up on which players could prosper on match days.

But that’s not all: along the way, traders win media dividends for positive headlines written about their players, so it’s worth keeping an eye on off-the-field events as well.

Like all betting platforms, the rules are fairly straightforward, and the nuances become more familiar with time.

We’ll be back over the weekend with a more detailed guide on how to play Football Index but head over to their website now for more information and tips on how to turn Fantasy prowess into a successful portfolio.

And don’t forget: this is trading with real money, so always gamble responsibly.

How essential is it to have both Salah and Auba from the start do we think? I haven't really liked what it's done to my forward line when I've tinkered so am more leaning to having Auba and Son as my premium mids so I can more easily change strikers according to form/fixtures. I can still move Auba to Salah, Mane or a man city player in gw3, but changing Son to Bruno is somewhat harder. I know it's easier to change your premium mids if you start with Salah and Auba as you can easily move down but if people like Adams and Mitrovic don't start well I'm gonna want to upgrade them as well.

Wish I could set up a poll.

Nothing is essential. But I like the idea of having both Auba and Salah to start. I think it gives good flexibility and I don't fancy going too punty to start this season.

Both are captainable, proven, nailed, on pens, etc. And it's a straight swap to any other player after a few weeks if needed. Its the easiest way to get City mids, Bruno, etc.

Asking how essential was stupid to be honest. I totally agree with your points yet somehow I am still more in favour of my current setup because it favours flexibility across the whole team rather than midfield alone.

Read Zaha as 'Salah' first and thought you had either miscalculated funds drastically or found a way to carry forward team value from previous season!

Personally think the midfield is a bit weak, but I like the rest of the team.

    Evening.

Working at my defence aspect of my FPL team first and very tempted at a triple up on spurs defence, together with TAA and a placeholder.

Looking at (without injury, Covid etc) to leave untouched for the first 8 game weeks with EVE, sou, NEW, manu, WHU, bur, BRI, wba.

Now I feel, a possibility of 4 clean sheets within those 8, at a cost of £16.5m plus potential BPS, assists etc.

After the resumption of the PL post lockdown, spurs managed 4 clean sheets in 9.

Over 8 matches I'm hoping for c100 points. Which for the outlay I feel represents a good return.

    Thoughts dear reader.

Triple up will take some cojones, now you have got me thinking of getting 2 though.

I just like the potential of the risk and reward.

Now having 3 at the back means I'm stuck if Son/kane et al hit form but on the flip side, it opens up places for City, United, Chelsea and Liverpool attacking players whom I feel will be the top goalscoring teams in the PL ( in no particular order).

A defensive triple up with Jose at the wheel is tempting

I was reading a Fan Team forum elsewhere today. The posters on it seemingly don't waste their time on FPL as there's basically no money in it for them. They read like a shrewd bunch and the one thing that really struck me was that a GW2/3 Wildcard was pretty much essential for them. Maybe keeping it for a rainy day - as I usually do - is for the amateurs.

    Thoughts on this?

    Ryan Button
    TAA KWP Vinagre Justin Mitchell
    Salah Auba Bruno Soucek ASM
    Werner Adams Mitro.

Bruno on bench for Gw1, Salah/Auba can become KDB

any thoughts on this team please? bearing in mind i will likely be without internet access gw1 + gw2 so need a team i can leave for those first couple of weeks:

could also go Ings instead of Martial with 0.5 ITB and hopefully get internet access to do Ings>Martial for gw2, but can just leave if i don't have access

    McCarthy
    TAA / Robbo / Doherty / Vinagre
    Auba (C) / ASM / Bruno*
Werner (vc) / Mitro / Martial*

    Nyland / KWP / Soucek / Bissouma

Tried messing around with Kane in my team and versions with Salah, but i want a defence i can just leave barring injury/covid/atrocious form, this set up still gives me some premiums and an 'on-paper' great defence, don't wanna be using FTs through first half of season to be swapping defenders if i can help it, any thoughts greatly appreciated

That's a sound approach, and the team's gtg.
Personally I've used the Salah money on the front line, but I'm planning o hold til gw3.
Perhaps switch Soucek to a more secured starter. Plenty at 5m too.
Remember to set Bruno and Martial in your starters so they show up automatically in gw2

cheers Ted - yep Bruno and Martial (or possibly Ings) already in my starting XI, i started with a Salah team, went down to Kane, then got rid of Kane, and it seems to give more balance, whether that's the right thing or not only time will tell 🙂 thanks

Vardy could be a great pick, not too many picking him, if he gets off to a good start could be a significant points advantage! DCL i admit i haven't considered, basically because i hung on to him after lockdown (if i remember correctly i actually sold Ings to get him, because Ings had tough fixtures, Ings obviously kept scoring against all comers while DCL did nothing) - however Everton have some nice fixtures and seem to be adding a little quality in the middle, which cold rejuvenate DCL as an option - very best of luck to you sir!

I’ve debated it and still mulling on that point. It makes it impossible to get the big hitters who are likely to score big though and the bench ends up full of 4.5m Defs / Mids so not sure tbh.

I don't think you want my opinion, it's hard to say on two very different teams. How have you come to this haha, it's like two completely different strategies.

Ha yeah they're different enough that I thought it would polarize and give everyone something to think about a bit. Essentially, it's about whether to go big in midfield at the expense of other areas or for or more balanced team.

And I genuinely do want your opinion. If you don't want to give it that is also fine.

I'm happy to give you my thoughts but not sure how to go about it tbh. You certainly need to commit to a strategy, if not you are destined to WC early. Could really do with stating your plans for each. I'm guessing the top one you are using Son as a place holder for Man Utd?
If you want in depth analysis you are going to have to give more details buddy.

Sure. With A it is easier to swap premium players in midfield. So Auba to Bruno Or Sterling or Bruno and Son to Rashford or probably Haiverts at around the same sort of price. Bit my forwards would be pretty much stuck.

With B, it's harder to change the midfield drastically but if the mid-price forwards show some form I can move the money around and downgrade Ings or Werner to afford the better midfielders.

Which is easier to navigate do you reckon?

A is probably more flexible because B has both ASM and Soucek which will be an awkward price range to replace / improve on without using multiple transfers.

What are you thinking on WC?
Early WC? I see many planning GW2 even ...

I think it’s worth holding to GW5 atleast.

If GW10-16 fixtures are good for teams having double in GW19 then use your WC early and get MC for their fixture turn.

Else hold on to your WC till GW16 to set up for the double ...

The racist real winner last season played it in GW2. There are no hard and fast rules. I'd rather save it as long as possible and not plan to use it early. I like putting things off I guess.

Like it. There is deffo a bit of a template forming with weaker def or weaker attack. Mine is very similar.

      McCarthy. 4m
      Taa, Vinagre, KWP, 4m, 4m
      Salah, Auba, Alli, ASM, soucek,
      Werner, Martial, Adams.

It would really help if we can establish one or two nailed on 4m defenders. Although I will be looking to have 2 premiums at the back eventually.
