Manchester clubs return in Sky Sports Fantasy Football as City face Monday fixture

Another Gameweek in Sky Sports Fantasy Football is upon us and all eyes are on the two Manchester clubs, who play their first Premier League games of the campaign.

But it is worth recruiting the services of any of their players?

Kevin De Bruyne (£11.5m) is the most expensive midfield asset in the game and rather fittingly accrued more points than any other player in Sky last season.

Bruno Fernandes comes in at £10.9m and was in the points himself after signing for Manchester United, tallying 129 from his debut onwards (more than any other player from that point up until the end of the term).

Their percentage selections emphasise the above points, currently standing at 45.5% and 30.6% respectively. De Bruyne’s ownership is most probably higher due to the fact that Manchester City play their first game on Monday night against Wolves, with the only other fixture of choice that day being Aston Villa against Sheffield United.

This creates the perfect captaincy choice for this game day, and fear not if you do not currently have the Belgian in your side.

 1

One of the quirks of Sky Sports Fantasy Football is the fact that you can allow players to play on a particular day and rack up their points, before transferring them out for another player to perform the following day, allowing managers to maximise their points potential.

De Bruyne does provide the better option of the two, but even the likes of Marcus Rashford (£10.5m) or Antony Martial (£10.0m) could be tempting considering United’s first three fixtures before you are allowed to make unlimited changes in the Overhaul: Crystal Palace, Tottenham and Brighton.

Bringing one of these stars in does come at a cost. You must budget accordingly and it does mean that you may eat into your first of 40 transfers, which will remain at that number until the end of the campaign.

The Overhaul comes into play after Gameweek 4, so there is no need to panic or rush with your transfers just yet. In a short time, you can utilise as many as you like.

On the Lookout?

As you well know, it would be pretty impossible to fill your Sky Sports Fantasy Football XI with players from both Manchester City and Manchester United, but at least there are options emerging on the radar elsewhere.

Marcal – £6.3m

Marcal got off to a perfect start in a Wolves shirt, contributing to his side’s clean sheet in their 2-0 away victory at Sheffield United. As mentioned previously, you do not have to make any changes before the Overhaul, but the left-back does provide a decent captaincy option for the game on Monday night.

After the clash against Manchester City, Wolves face four winnable fixtures in West Ham, Fulham, Leeds and Newcastle, either side of the Overhaul period, proving a potential cheap pick at just £6.3m for both short and long-term planning. His price is by far the cheapest from any of the Wolves’ backline.

Jack Grealish – £8.5m

It has been quite the week for Jack Grealish. From earning his first England cap to signing a new five-year contract and scoring against Burton in the same day, Grealish was a surprise announcement to most Villa fans.

What this does give the capacity for him to do is really kick on, perfect for Fantasy Football managers. He will begin his Premier League season against Sheffield United, also on Monday evening, which could mean another captaincy choice may be needed to make.

Grealish scored on eight occasions and created six more goals for Aston Villa last season, which was invaluable to his side maintaining their Premier League status. Their fixtures are generous, particularly post-Overhaul, facing off against Leeds, Southampton, Arsenal, Brighton, West Ham and Newcastle.

Points could begin to flow in abundance for the Villa skipper.

Might as well get on Eve good fixtures. Squad is decent - it’s very hard to have 11 good ones but ASM and Soucek are the obvious weakness.
ASM I am not sure on.
Soucek looks great but dire fixtures but may he is worth holding anyway as there is nothing as good as him at that price.

So anyone know why Jota didn’t play. Wouldn’t mind getting him from GW3 but need someone who is nailed for that 6.5 spot.

I would stay away for him now, if you want to take a punt Foden has more upside, in terms of nailedness the options aren't really great in that bracket I guess, could you try finding extra 0.5 maybe for Grealish or someone?

Nuno preferred Podence. Probably going to be some rotation as I can’t see Jota warming the pine all season.

I took a punt on Jota for the start of the season, following some positive showings in the nation's league for Portugal. I still feel he's a solid pick, but rotation an issue.
I'd imagine NES 's preferred front 3 to be Podence,Jimenez,Jota - assuming Traore continues in the full back role.

I was always going to bench him against city for GW2, but another no-show would be of concern

James looked so good. Just a little deeper that I would like but that may change. Definitely a good punt at that price with some great fixtures on the way.
Possible Havertz drop on the next few days. I don’t think it’s a bad transfer but you may want Havertz soon.

Defence is rather weak but you know that anyway - does your defensive rotation work ok? Would lean towards Ferguson instead of Mitchell if on a WC, and prefer Doucouré over ASM.

What are your plans for Auba? Is he a keep beyond GW3 for you or will you downgrade and beef up the defence?

Looks good - you are certainly going after fixtures.
Auba the first one out and to who? Salah with the .5 spare
Lewis and ASM won’t have the fixtures after GW2. One of them seems too much to me a double up way too much.

I always take hits early and go for TV.
I have said it for a few seasons but this year I am actually go to minimize hits and not chase price rises or falls.
Having said that the first test was sitting on my hands not getting Alli out and it was difficult.
    A few reasons
    1. Not confident on who I want as a replacement.
    2. He was ear marked to become Havertz or Pulisic anyway and either or both of those could price drop before Alli drops again so it may not matter.
    3. I want those 2FTs for GW3

    1. Balls of Steel
      • 8 Years

Agree it is very difficult to watch the price rises/drops without reacting to taking hits. Talked myself out of a double transfer this week.. Just did the Alli to Hamez move before the price change deadline!

I don't think that is the issue. I think my transfer cost total last year was 64 but immediate pts gained was 284 or something like that. My strategy was to keep my team in tact and main issue was poor gw1 team.

always had the Alli>James in my mind since early week. Was waiting for spurs europa cup to see if anything changes, then Whammm! Alli drops in price (shd have seen that coming!) I really don't think he/Mou/Spurs will improve given europa and other rumours of unrest. But i prefer to bring in richarlison to ride the everton wave.

Would prefer to take out Son but not sure Hamez is the answer. Would love to see him against WBA and if he continues to play deeper like Pogba then not worth it.

Holding Son this week could also help in case Puli is back then he could be a nice option.

It seems those conservative players getting United and Citeh assets early to avoid price rises have gone to naught, with FPL tower holding back on price increases for those players.

Even after getting 62 in GW1 couldn't hold on my WC and the new team is

    McCarthy, Steer
    Robbo, Saiss, Justin, Lamptey, Mitchell
    Auba, Bruno, Hamez, Soucek, Bissouma
    Martial, Werner, DCL

Please suggest me changes needed in this

You making Auba cap against weakest left flank in the league, then transfer out?
Look at Ivanovic at 4.5. He could still be an attacking threat.
Hamez still a slight punt. DCL enough IMO.
If you don't need Mitchel maybe furgerson who will be back in 3 GW's and probably nailed.
      I like the Robbo pick.

Auba was for 2 weeks in my plan after that it's either KdB or Salah.
        Thanks for Ivanovic.
Hamez to Pulisic (1M in the bank for that)
I am looking for options in place of Justin and Mitchel
Robbo to TAA depends on latter's fitness (0.5 ITB spare for that)

Take a punt on Ivan for Justin.
Did not know about spare cash.
If Pulisic fit my transfers are Auba to Puli and Wilson to Werner GW3 if all goes to plan.

Nice. Justin is the one I would question too.
1 touch in the box got him that penalty didn’t really look a threat and how long does he hold that spot. I would go Taylor.
Lamptey looks total class. He will be back at a top 4 team next year if he keeps playing like that.

      1) I wouldn’t go McCarthy in goal based on Saints opening game and performance against Brentford. Difficult to see which 4.5 to go for since we haven’t seen Villa play yet.

      2) Justin and Mitchell could be transfers waiting to happen

      3) If on a WC, I would go more aggressively after fixtures and include Digne/Coleman (possibly at the expense of Robertson) and use the extra funds to upgrade one of your 4.5 defenders and/or one of Soucek or Bissouma

      4) I would definitely want Jimenez if on a WC. He was electric against SHU. That would mean one of Werner or Martial would make way, as I think DCL’s fixtures are just too good to ignore. If Frank gives word that Ziyech and or Pulisic are fit and will play this week, I would stick with Werner. If not, then Tony.

      5) Just my opinions - take them all with a pinch of salt and as the old adage goes “you can’t have everybody” 😀

        1) I'll look into McCarthy once the outfield players are sorted.
        2) Justin | Mitchel going out now after all the suggestions.
        3) I was looking to get Digne but for Justin as I have 1.5 ITB. Robbo for Digne never came to my mind. But now I'll look for this.
        4) I thought of doing Werner to Jimenez GW4. Let's see what Lampard announces.
        5) Thanks for the opinions after all this is what makes a team better if not the best.

    Is Reece James a TRAPPPP!

    - Azpilicueta is the preferred duffer on the Right but can play Left

    - Reece plays Right

    - Chilwell will be back soon, to the left

So Reece James is not a TRAPPP!?

    1. Siva Mohan

Azpi may start against Liverpool in back 4

      James is preferred in 3-4-3

      Frank loves James

overall James will see more game time

    2. Rasping Drive

Tough one. I can’t see Azpi not playing against Pool, probably in a 4-2-3-1, which means one of James and Chilwell has to drop out. I’d say James will keep his spot for that game, even if Chilwell is fit, based on his performance against Brighton. Personally I don’t see Alonso in the mix much at all this year.

Beyond that is anyone’s guess. They could all play if Frank lines up with 3 centre halves of course. I do agree with Siva Mohan that James will feature a lot this year, so for 5m and a clear attacking threat in a very offensive team, he’s worth the outlay.

Thoughts here? A few players with question marks on gametime, best option? If i use a transfer on Nketiah or Vinagre i only have 1ft next week to get a ManCity or ManUtd player.

    Johnstone
    TAA Robbo Justin
    Salah Son Greenwood Pulisic*
    Jimenez Richarlison Nketiah*

    Button Mitchell Bissouma Vinagre*

    A) Vinagre to 4.5 (Ayling, Taylor)
    B) Nketiah to Che Adams
    C) save

Yowza. I don’t expect Nketiah to start, but he could come on and score, I guess. Pulisic - seems like he’s still injured. Vinagre - the fact that Buur came on against SHU would indicate he could well be out of the reckoning.

I’d save this week, regardless. Next week you’ll have a clearer picture. Nketiah could become Brewster for example, and you could use the money generated to bring in City/United assets.

Yeah that's my plan for next week. Think i'll just do Vinagre transfer this week. Hoping for Nketiah 20min cameo against West Ham. If Pulisic is 100% ruled out i might change my mind, annoyingly he could be one week away from being fit for a while lol.
