Five players to consider for the Sky Sports Fantasy Football Overhaul

The Sky Sports Fantasy Football Overhaul is here, meaning unlimited transfers can be made until Saturday 17 October without eating into your allocation of 40 for the season.

For some, their team may be set in stone and ready for domestic football’s return, but for others, crucial decisions are still to be made and Fantasy Football watchlists are to be narrowed down before the next deadline.

Make unlimited changes to your Sky Sports Fantasy Football team here

We’ve picked out five players who could make your starting XI below.

Harry Kane (£11.7m)

Why FPL Managers Should Focus on Premium Forwards in 2020/21

The statistics do the talking with Harry Kane. With three goals and six assists to his name, the England captain has already hit the half-century mark in terms of Fantasy Football points after just four matches. Kane leads the way with 50, the most in the game.

A hefty 40 of these came against Southampton and Manchester United alone, with the Tottenham Hotspur talisman now finding himself in 60.2% of the top 1,000 Fantasy Football teams ahead of the Overhaul period.

Kane said himself after the Manchester United result that the ability to drop deeper has always been a part of his game, so this could be seen more often in the coming weeks. Assists, as well as goals, could become synonymous with the addition of Kane into your Fantasy XI: the England striker is ranked fifth among Premier League players for key passes in 2020/21 and top for big chances created.

The most promising aspect coming out of the Overhaul is quite simply Spurs’ fixtures. Jose Mourinho’s side face West Ham, Brighton, Burnley and West Brom in their next four, which presents an opportunity for Kane to extend his gap at the top of the points chart.

Jack Grealish (£8.5m)

 1

You could have taken your pick of players from Aston Villa’s drubbing of champions Liverpool last weekend but Jack Grealish is the one who will bring you consistent averages, week on week. He was Villa’s highest point scorer in Fantasy Football last year and you should expect that stat to stay the same this term.

The English international posted an incredible 25 points against Liverpool, thanks to his two goals and three assists. This was after he scored against Fulham the week before and he had gone mightily close to doing likewise against Sheffield United, so again he is proving it on a consistent basis.

Grealish’s ownership figure (23.13%) makes him the fourth-most selected midfielder in the game, and for good reason. With fixtures against Leeds United, Southampton, Brighton and Hove Albion and West Ham United featuring in Villa’s next six and plenty of appealing matches beyond that point, Dean Smith’s side could build on their 100% start – and Grealish will be well placed to capitalise with more Fantasy points.

Karl Darlow (£6.2m)

The Newcastle shot-stopper’s man-of-the-match performance against Tottenham Hotspur was the highlight of the season so far from a goalkeeping perspective in Sky Fantasy. If there was a threshold for tier three save bonus points, Karl Darlow would have reached it, but earning a point for Steve Bruce’s side away at Tottenham will have done just fine.

Aside from this, Newcastle’s clean sheet on the opening day at West Ham landed Darlow with another eight points.

Despite his lowly price of £6.2m (only Illan Meslier (£6.1m) costs less among playing goalkeepers), Darlow is ranked second for points among Premier League custodians and he could be a potential bargain buy following the international break.

Although Newcastle face Manchester United, Wolves and Everton in their next three, you would still expect Darlow to register bonus points alongside a potential shock clean sheet.

The obvious caveat is that Martin Dubravka (£6.7m) isn’t expected to be sidelined for too long – but Darlow’s form is such (he has the best save percentage in the division) that the Slovakian may have a fight on his hands to reclaim his place.

James Rodriguez (£8.9m)

Much has been said about James Rodriguez since his arrival at Goodison Park, particularly within these Fantasy Football articles. The last time Rodriguez was mentioned, he had a goal and an assist to his name – fast forward the clock and the Colombian has now netted three goals and set up another two, collecting a pair of man-of-the-match awards in the process.

Rodriguez is the most-selected midfielder aside from big hitters Kevin De Bruyne and Bruno Fernandes, with 24.55% of Fantasy Football teams recruiting him thus far.

A Merseyside derby awaits Rodriguez next, so he will have to be at his very best after the long trip back from South America to keep his ownership percentage so high. Southampton and Newcastle follow, so there is as good a case as any to bring in and keep the silky midfielder in your team for weeks to come.

Ruben Dias (£9.1m)

You will not transfer in a better player, for the price of £9.1m, than Ruben Dias of Manchester City. Although there has been an abundance of shocks, goals and penalties so far this campaign, many forget that Ederson walked away with the Golden Glove in 2019/20, so there is no doubt that Manchester City will keep clean sheets again this year.

The signing of Dias from Benfica for £65m will bolster the sometimes frail defence of the Citizens, as Pep Guardiola identified the Portuguese international to be the final piece of the puzzle. Partnering Aymeric Laporte against Leeds, Dias looked composed and eager to impress on his debut.

As well as clean sheet potential, the possibility of attacking returns from set plays and likely passing bonus points furthers his appeal.

Dias twice got his head to the ball from corner-kicks at Elland Road and was unfortunate not to see one of those efforts nestle in the back of the net.

To leave you with one bit of general advice: your Overhaul team should be planned with the long-term fixture schedule in mind, with a couple of differentials and cheap picks thrown in to make all the difference in your mini-leagues.

International Break thoughts on Price Changes this season?

Anecdotally, these feel a lot more chilled to me than the past couple of seasons. We’ve seen few seismic shifts and the fallers have largely [but not exclusively...hello Antonio] been predictably poor FPL options to date.

The one significant change I’d like to see next season, would be a pause on changes while each game week is active, i.e. normally just a Saturday night pause. It would be great to enjoy the full gameweek’s action before the threat of possible changes looms large.

How would you like to see changes adapt in future, or are you happy with the current model?

That’s true. But I recall last years GW2-3 being a little more frantic than this season. No doubt the lock on GW1 blankers had a part to play in that.

Price rises are a joke and it is all down to awful sites like FPL statistics. Finally it looks like Fpl are intervening.

Hopefully FPL mix it up more continue and kill off any reliance on such sites. It is an unfair advantage. People who can't be checking price rises nightly as they have a life outside FPL suffer. If they changing deadlines to stop the advantage then this is the next step surely

Not everyone wants to think about fpl 24/7 and why should they be punished for that. If there were none of this cash rises sites then people would not panic and the movement would calm down

As for fpl being transparent, lol. They don't owe us anything. It is part of the game and always has been. Once again if it wasn't for these sites people would just get on with it

The more opportunity people get to make decisions (and therefore make mistakes) the better for me. Would be less stressful if there were no rises during a GW or even until the night before a GW for sure, but removes scope for diversity in play.

I like the idea of changes being paused until the all games are played. There's nothing more annoying than seeing player that you are thinking of selling dropping on Saturday.

On the other hand it eliminates the risk and reward and value chasing element of the game, that many are very keen on. I am somewhere in between (which is probably the worst), sometimes I play the patient game, sometimes I rush to get the risers in. This season I already lost 0.3 sell value (Werner -0.1, Adams -0.1, Mitrovic -0.1), missed some rises (KDB and Jimenez) and I decided to get Kane and Grealish early this week as compromise between losing value and playing the wildcard.

Pausing price changes during the gameweek is a marvellous idea, I would also like them to be made transparent and if they could occur by say, 11pm, rather than 2 in the morning, that would be grand!

By transparent, do you mean them releasing a list of all players that are going to change in price that day ahead of time?

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

The system is fine, people should have the opportunity to bring in new players at the first opportunity. How else will players like myself build up a good TV for later in the season?

To me, the big change needed is to be able to make 2 FT every GW without the possibility to add a third one if no transfer is made.
This will enable to manage price changes more efficiently because you will be able to change two lines of players every week without the inertia of 2 or 3 weeks to be able to make that moves. So price changes will impact you badly if you have to wait.
1 FT is freezing the game imo and give price changes too much importance.

Disagree, I like the risk reward aspecT how it is now. Leads to more varying styles of play, which is what we want really.

More transparency is needed from FPL in my opinion. I find it bizarre that most seem happy to accept there is a secret formula that FPL are tweaking throughout the season to manage player price changes.

I always use this example - if the bonus points were issued in the same manner (a secret formula) would people be ok with that? I'd like to think not! So why are so many happy for player prices to go up and down with no accurate system to work to? Is it because most don't think team value is important?

Bonus points and price rises are apples and pears. Price rises are inconsequential in comparison because they don’t translate directly to points.

I'd like to see the price changes follow a simple formula, where x% sells=he falls, x% buys=he rises. Without their own agenda.

Why don't they just do price rises like Fantasy Bundesliga? Based on GW score. And the formula is fully transparent

I think price changes haven’t been as crazy this year due to utd and mci blanking. Led to everyone gradually building teams w FT as opposed to racing to get value.

I’d have less changes too - none in GW and maybe every other day. Looking at potential price changes prior to bed every day just feels demanding on life/ mental health.

Personally would like to see it like they do with the Sun Dream Team. Prices only change at 7am on a Friday morning, so you don't have to make your moves until Thursday night after all the games have finished

I don't think they should change it. I like the risk and reward of early transfers. It means you can play the game different ways. I don't usually like to make early transfers but with the 2 transfers I wanted to make it meant I would have lost 0.4 in team value if I didn't make them early. Both players out were dropping 0.1 and both players I was bringing in were rising 0.1. With one more international game to go, both the players I brought in are likely to play for England so I will lose out if they get injured. That's the risk I took and I like the game that way. It would be a duller game without the risk.

    Current team is:

    Martinez, Button
    TAA, Digne, Saiss, Lamptey, Mitchell
Salah, KDB, James Rodriguez, Foden, Anguissa
    Calvert-Lewin, Jimenez, Mitrovic

Haven’t taken any hits yet but considering TAA, Foden, Anguissa and Mitrovic to Walker-Peters, Son, Grealish and Brewster for a minus eight. I’m not averse to taking hits at the start so a minus eight doesn’t bother me at this stage. Just wondering what you all think of the transfers themselves.

    1. Robo, 5.5 def, Hamez, Grealish, Kane 343

    2. 2x 5.5 def, Sterling, McGinn, Kane 343

    3. Robo, Saiss, Sterling, Hamez, Grealish 352

Why? He’s not going to want to sell Son anyway, fast becoming a season keeper at that price, maybe even at 10.0

Sure, sure. KDB essential two weeks ago. Son a season-keeper now. I bet everyone who just hauled is a season-keeper.

He's been 9.0 since they released the prices. Didn't see anyone call him a season-keeper until he just hauled.

I don't know why people insist on using that stupid overused term when they don't mean it. I even saw someone here call Jimenez a season-keeper not too long ago. Do people even think of what they're saying before they do? The only players who fit that description last season were TAA and KDB, and even KDB only because he was 9.5.

Agreed KdB at 9.5 for sure. Maybe just me then but as soon as I saw Son’s price I was adamant on having him, I even played WC in GW2 and fortunately kept him.

For me, except maybe TAA he has the highest ceiling to price ratio, and I can’t personally can’t resist that.

It’s not about that, it’s if Son doesn’t rise and one of his other players get injured or contract COVID before the next GW.

If KDB got injured for example, people that have moved early for Son and sold a different player will have a lot of egg on their faces.

With respect to selling Son and buying back? He will rise eventually anyway, maybe after his haul next week

But it’s not necessarily stupid because he might want to sell son, it’s stupid because your plans at the start of the two weeks could look very different at the end of them.

Say you sold Fernandes for him on Sunday evening anticipating a rise. He doesn’t rise for 2 weeks, and then KDB is announced as injured the Friday before the gameweek starts. Your best move there would have been to sell KDB for son and keep Bruno for another week, but you’re forced into a hit as you’ve already decided to sell Bruno before 3 rounds of international games.

I agree, making early transfers seems wrong, but if you know the risk you are taking then its fine. I did early a KDB to Son transfer. Not only because Son could rise but also because i thought KDB could drop. Plus KDBs high ownership makes me want to chase Sterling when i go back to MCI mids. If another player gets injured, i m happy to take a hit, we all knew this particular IB could have many injuries and covid cases.

Its frustrating that Son hasnt risen since a possible sell could give me a 0.1 or more later as profit but i can live with that, chasing points over cash itb is the important thing.

And that’s cool if you know the risks and accept them, but people can’t complain if he doesn’t rise as they expect. It’s not unfair in the slightest, it’s one of the risks you take.

This is the risk, but it's something everyone that does it is aware of. I don't normally do it, but I did it this time because between selling Werner and buying Son and Watkins, I was looking at potentially a 0.5 swing.

FPL manipulating the prices. Unfair in my opinion. The least we should expect is the same price change rules being applied to ALL players.

How do you know the same rules aren’t applied to all players? Do you know the algorithm and how changes are calculated? How do you know a process that isn’t meant to be transparent is ‘unfair’, apart from the fact it doesn’t suit you?

it's right in front of your nose. Look at the numbers. We have umpteen examples of price manipulation from this season and previous seasons. Players A with x number of transfers falls / rises while player B with sometimes higher transfers doesn't. Son is just one example.

Ownership has an affect on price rises/falls. If someone is highly owned already, they are less likely to rise. Eg. If player A has 2M owners and 200K transfers they may not rise. However if player B has 200K owners and 200K transfers they are more likely to rise. That's the risk/reward of going for differentials - they are more likely to rise if they do score well.

As far as I remember, price lock related to flags only applies, if there's direct move from red flag to no flag. It was not the case with Son. He went from red to 25% chance and only after he played his game - went from 25% to 100%. So, no block should've been applied. Unless something changed.

      Controversial B from me.

I really like keeping KdB. He's still undervalued imo at 11.5m. A few poor games will not diminish his huge potential and he offers a captaincy option. The other set has no captaincy pick.

Saiss will score very well over the next few weeks and Brewster is huge value if you think he'll do well at Sheff Utd.

It feels like better value with Saiss and Brewster.

I'd do it if I were on WC.

Pulisic is way underpriced at 8.3m imo. We saw him come on as a sub last game. Two weeks and no internationals more, he'll start imo. Huge differential, big explosive potential. I see it as a great opportunity to get ahead.

Anyone fancy DCL & Richarlison double up? Already have DCL, planning to do Adams to Richarlison for free!

I already have it. With Rich on pens and JRod providing the ammo hope they keep scoring freely

Sky Sports Fantasy Football, how's this looking as an overhaul team ? I'm currently 253rd in that game (compared to 1.5m in FPL), so I am focusing primarily on that game at the moment.

    Patricio
    TAA, Lamptey, Mitchell
    KDB, Rodriguez, Antonio, Grealish
    Kane, Salah, DCL

1.5m ITB for a Chelsea mid (probably Pulisic for Antonio) or to upgrade Mitchell after the favourable run of fixtures or if he gets dropped.

I use 1 transfer a GW normally to get the best captain each day, so will transfer out Kane for Jimenez after West Ham this GW, then bring in back in Burnley after I've captained Jimi against Leeds and maybe Newcastle.

Could upgrade Mitchell to Dallas or Ayling to captain for Leeds two monday matches

It's an option that would save transfers, but I'm expecting Jimi and Vardy (who will probably be my captain for on 2nd November) to outscore them by 2 or 3 times, so I think they transfers well spent.

The plan is Kane to Jimi (GW 6)
Jimi (after he's played in GW6 and 7) to Kane in GW7
Kane (after he has played in GW7 and GW8) to Vardy in GW8

Good God it’s true. Sorry to be blunt, but this is a terrible use of transfers

Are you seriously going to do Kane to Jimi to Kane over a 3 week span? Did I get that right?

Yes it gains me Jimi as captain twice for 2 FT's, without missing any of Kane fixtures. That's a far better option than saving them for a DGW IMO (like many on here do) when you are probably bringing in players that you are not going to captain.

You get two teams in Sky Sports FF, in the past I've selected identical teams for each then used the save transfer for a DGW method for one, and used FTs for players I captained method for the other (with all other transfers identical). The later comes out on top every time and is normally in the top 2k OR.

Ziyech played for Morocco last night coming on with half an hour to go. They beat Senegal 3-1, and he got an assist and was involved in buildup for another goal. If survives their next game against Congo, should start appearing for Chelsea soon.

Jimenez will obviously keep delivering a few points here and there, but I don't think he's worth 8.5m this season. He was a no brainer pick at 6-7m, but all the 2s and 5s are not cutting it for me this time. Upgrade to Kane?

right all it needs is 23k people to pay for arsenal/leicester at 715 pm on oct 25th and thats ozils wages paid for that week ,thatll work ,wont it?? also just paying for 2 games a week is going to cost 120 quid a month when plenty of people are on 66% wages even if they still have a job ,countrys gone mad ,seems like a hefty clump in the gonads to me ...utterly bizarre decision...
