Fantasy Allsvenskan Differentials for the Final Gameweeks

With just 5 Gameweeks to go, it’s time to start looking at some differentials to make one final push up the rankings! While most players included in this piece will be roughly 5% owned or less, some featured are more highly owned but most likely by inactive teams, these players will have a “*” next to their name. Here are 20 differentials for the run-in!

Goalkeepers

Admittedly most managers won’t be looking at switching goalkeepers at this points, but if you’re on a Wildcard or find yourself in need of a goalkeeper transfer, here are a few players to target:

Malmö keeper Johan Dahlin (6.3m) will miss the rest of the season so 5.9% owned Marko Johansson (4.5m) has a great chance of putting in a proper challenge for the first team spot, ahead of next season. With 3 clean sheets in the last 6 games and a potentially profitable schedule to come, Johansson looks like a great cheap pick.

3.2% owned Budimir Janošević (4.8m) has established himself as first choice for AIK and with 5 clean sheets in the last 7 games, it’s easy to see why. AIK looks solid defensively again, and Janošević is another great budget option, albeit with the caveat that you might want other AIK players with the maximum three spots available.

4.5% owned Tommi Vaiho (5.6m), has reclaimed his first-team spot in the merry go round that is the Djurgården goalkeeper spot. 2 clean sheets from 4 and a superb schedule to boot, he’s quite possibly the pick of the bunch.

Defenders

6.4% owned Elliot Käck (5.5m) was a big fantasy asset last season and could prove to be again for the last couple of games. Some question marks as to whether or not he keeps his spot when the first choice centre backs are fit (where Jonathan Augustinsson (5.6m) has been deputising), but given it looks more or less certain that Augustinsson will be leaving after the season, it would make some sense to play Käck at left-back regardless. 3 assists in his last 3 games, on some corners and set pieces, Käck could be a nice differential to double up with Witry ahead of the run-in.

7.6% owned Jonas Knudsen (5.3m) is borderline too popular to be included, yet with 2 clean sheets, 2 assists, 3 offensive and 5 defensive bonus points in his last 4 games – he should arguably be a lot more heavily owned. There is no real shortage of good defensive options however, and the Double Gameweek just passed will also have played a part in him not picking up more owners. Ahead of a favourable run of fixtures where Malmö look to secure another title, Knudsen could offer plenty of points both in defence and attack.

1.7% owned Sotirios Papagiannopoulos (5.9m) offers stability, clean sheets and defensive bonus points. In just 7 games played for AIK, he has 4 clean sheets and 10 defensive bonus points. At the moment, it feels like most picks at AIK are quite good prospects, but security of starts shouldn’t be underestimated and Mikael Lustig (6.8m) has been struggling with minor injuries lately.

3.8% owned Per Karlsson (6.0m) is another low owned defensive asset at AIK, with 5 clean sheets, 1 goal and 9 defensive bonus points in his last 7 games. Again, it’s mostly security of starts and defensive bonus points you’re getting here.

4.3% owned Henrik Castegren (5.3m) has reclaimed his spot in the Norrköping side, scoring a goal against AIK in Gameweek 25. Castegren and Norrköping face Mjällby (a), Falkenberg (H), Hammarby (a) and Helsingborg (H).

Midfielders

0.9% owned Blair Turgott (4.8m). A 4.8m midfielder playing OOP as a striker, scoring 6 goals on the season of which 3 came in the last 2 games, with underlying statistics to back it up? Yes please! As far as differentials go, Blair Turgott is incredibly exciting. 13 shots in the last 4 games (7 on target) and with Mjällby and Varberg in the next 3 Gameweeks, Turgott won’t stay that lowly owned for long.

2.3% owned Edward Chilufya (5.7m) had a Double Gameweek to forget, coming off the bench in the first game and managing an assist in 23 minutes, but pulling out of the squad for the second game of the week due to a minor injury. This has been the case with Chilufya most of the season, but despite limited game time, he still has 2 goals and 3 assists in his 9 last appearances, in just 408 minutes played – averaging 6.7 points per 90 minutes played on the season. It’s a gamble with his fitness, but whenever he plays he seems to be in the points.

* Alexander Kacaniklic (9.6m), owned by 11.1%. With an initial ownership of well above 40%, Kacaniklic scored a goal and an assist in Gameweek 2 before more or less dropping off completely, popping up with the odd assist and seeing his minutes heavily managed during the first half of the season. Between Gameweek 14-19 he missed out completely due to an injury despite all this, but since coming back he now has 1 goal and 6 assists in 6 appearances, alongside 3 offensive bonus points. With a decent schedule for the run-in, the tough games are all at home where Hammarby tends to do well (though this season without fans, it’s been a lot less so). As a team, Hammarby might struggle to get all the points from the encounters, but as an individual, Kacaniklic has the potential to deliver more or less every week.

* Fredrik Ulvestad (7.6m), owned by 16.7%. Highlighted by the Scout for the Double Gameweek which netted him 20 points, Fredrik Ulvestad now has 10 goals on the season and is growing increasingly influential in the Djurgården side pushing for a top-three spot. On penalties, he had more than twice the ownership when in vogue during the first half of the season. As the points dried up, Ulvestad is now a semi-differential amongst the more active managers – and Djurgården’s fixtures are amazing besides the derby in Gameweek 27.

1.4% owned Adi Nalic (7.0m) has been deputising for Isaac Kiese Thelin (10.3m) as a striker for Malmö. He has 2 assists, 4 offensive and 2 defensive bonus points in his last 3 games and it’s always been the case with him that he produces when given minutes. With Kiese Thelin now back to fitness, Nalic will probably get more rotated again but given it looks unlikely that Kiese Thelin stays with Malmö after this season when his loan expires, Nalic will want to continue impressing the coach to get a whiff at more playing time next season if nothing else (or a big move somewhere). Expect some benchings, but points whenever he plays a bit more.

5.5% owned Jonathan Levi (7.4m) has struggled with fitness most of the season, but 4 goals in the last 2 games indicates he is in fine form at the moment. With a favourable fixture list for attacking returns incoming, Levi should provide a lot more – assuming he can stay fit. A common theme amongst the differentials, unfortunately.

3.8% owned Elias Andersson (5.6m) has understandably been taking a back seat while Stefano Vecchia (6.9m) and Yukiya Sugita (7.4m) have stolen the limelight. Sneakily coming into form, Andersson is now trailing the pair by just 17 and 19 points, respectively. Sirius fixtures are a mixed bag, but Andersson looks like he can provide some points for the run-in.

3.1% owned Abbe Khalili (7.2m) had a big impact in Gameweek 24 with his 3 assists, otherwise it’s mostly been bonus points with him. Netting 5 offensive and 2 defensive bonus points in his 4 last games, Khalili is no doubt a wild punt but if Hammarby does well in the final games, so should he.

Forwards

6.4% owned Ola Toivonen (11.2m) is the most expensive player in the game, and he’s starting to show why. 5 goals and 1 assist in his last 4 games, Toivonen can prove to be a big difference-maker for your squad if you can afford him for the last 5 Gameweeks!

4.2% owned Deniz Hümmet (5.4m) has 4 goals and 4 assists in his last 7 appearances for Örebro. Fixtures are a mixed bag, but Örebro have actually looked good going forward the last couple of weeks, scoring 9 goals in their 4 last games.

0.4% owned Rasmus Karjalainen (5.7m), has played a big part in Örebro’s attacking resurgence as well, scoring 4 goals in his last 4 appearances.

* Karl Holmberg (8.7m) is more popular at 7.9%, but in the greater scheme of things he remains a differential. 4 goals and 1 assist in his last 4 games, Holmberg’s prospects depend on him getting continued minutes, which hasn´t been a guarantee this season. Even off the bench however, he remains an interesting prospect for those inclined to back Djurgården to make a late-season push.

Hopefully you’ll be able to use this list to find a way to push up the rankings in the last 5 Gameweeks! If you have any other differentials you’d like to share or want to discuss the prospects of the ones listed here, please do comment here below – or take the discussion to the Twittersphere where I’m @FF_Meltens. I wish you all good luck for the run-in!

Turgott looks such a nice pick!! Will look to get him in. Levi also looks red hot and Nalic is appealing although I think that mat be too much of a gamble!

Completely depends on where you are in the rankings - AC will do a job but he’s very highly owned and also just one YC from a suspension. I’d like to go a bit more differential personally but he’s a good pick!

    Who to captain?

Sebastian Larsson? Vecchia? AC? All three have merit.

AC feels like the best there based on Malmö goals and opposing defence. Aik seem to be sneaking a lot of 1 goal margins. Vecchia would be the second best imo

Here's the team, got 2fts and 0.1itb. 27th in the world and wondering how I could make a late surge into single digit ranks...

    Dahlberg
    Lustig, Kahl, Witry, Bjornstrom
    Larsson, Besara, Berget, Vecchia
    IKT, Karjalainen

    Noring, Irandust, Baptiste, Andersson

Take a look at the article above and see if you find anyone you like 🙂
Ulvestad, Turgott and Kaca all great replacements for Irandust.

Yeah, sorry I meant more for who would you most ship out but I realise how stupid my comment sounded haha. There's a lot of great targets in the article. Turgott I've had my eyes on for a little while.

Haha no worries, just thought you might have missed it as most jump straight into the comments. Think Djurgården, Malmö and Hammarby in general could score quite a few goals for the run in! A bit of a warning flag for AC though, could easily get booked in the derby and miss the favourable Sirius home game.

    WC activated:

    Janosevic
    Witry, Kahl, J. Larsson
Ulvestad, S. Larsson, AC, Levi Ludwigson(vc), Frick, Johannsson(c)

    M. Johansson, Turgott, Käck, Okumu

    2.1 itb

A couple of players on 3/7 YC but willing to take the risk.

Who are you captaining? Tough week as there are quite a few good options... I’m currently on Seb Larsson but could easily change last minute as Vecchia is tempting me too.

Depends how far I put my balls to the wall for a late Ranking surge. After his heroics last week, my cap is currently on Besara. Could easily change though, Malmö is tempting but I find derbies can often be cagey affairs and I have question marks on whether aik score enough to justify Larsson

Berget, Kaca, Larsson, Besara (c), Turgott
          IKT

Of course they shove Turgott out wide and get pummelled by Mjällby, classic. FWIW Turgott still had 3 shots but was very peripheral, getting just 11 touches. Not happy with that management but nothing to do, hopefully reverts back to CF next week

AC dropping so deep when IKT plays though, a bit worrying. Kind of a KDB situation there! Think most Malmö assets look good this week but for me, personally, it’s between Besara and Kacaniklic.

        1. General Nuisance

          Good picks!

I am in dilemma: I have Nyman, who seems to have recovered from an injury. I am leaning towards getting IKT.

However, Besara has a plum fixture at home. And the only way to get him is if I drop Seb Larsson. Besara has tough fixtures after Kalmar

So I do not really know which is the best option.

Na-hero Besara is my cap atm. Transfers is a tough one. Feel like results become a lot more difficult to predict at the end of a season. I have triple AIK (including double D) and double Hacken D which is something I may look to address

It’s been an insanely tough season yeah, very hard to get any proper scores! I’ve jumped around way too much, hoping Hammarby eventually kicks into gear which they just haven’t.

Thanks for the extra motivation, now I really want to end the season above you, but unfortunately I also think Besara is the way to go this week haha..

Good luck Johnny, I’m coming for you! 😉

Still undecided about the captaincy; between Besara and whoever I bring in with my two FTs, replacing Irandust and Söderlund. Right now I'm looking at bringing in Berget and Kiese Thelin. Sitting at an OR of 1200, maybe I should look at differential picks instead…? Team right now is:

      Janošević
      Witry – Kahl – Larsson – Ekpolo
      Vecchia – Besara – Larsson
      Karjalainen – Söderlund – Jóhannsson
      (Nilsson – Irandust – Seger – Birkfeldt)

Prioritise building for PTB, huge chip and the best chance you’ll have at climbing even more in the final GWs 🙂

As for differentials, the article above covers some options but a few of them have tricky fixtures this week. Malmö should have a nice GW so not sure it’s worth going different just for the sake of it this week!

            • 6 Years
            3 years, 5 months ago

Yes, PTB is a great chip, and can do wonders for the OR if you pick the right GW to use it. Two Captains I'll likely just spend whenever I feel like it. Maybe even this GW!

Good point, this is probably not the gameweek to try and be different. I will need to bring in a Malmö defender too at some point; will it be risky to do Ekpolo > Knudsen for a hit?

Hey just transferred in Ola Toivonen, would need a hit to bring in another Malmo player? rest of my team lines up as this:

        gk: jansson
def: papagiannopoulos, witry, larsson, kahl, bjornstorm
        mid: turgott, vecchia, eriksson, sugita
        for: toivonen

bench: nilsson, ogbu, van den hulk, selmani

will prob shift the bench around but seem to be picking up good points stacking the back.

    Any suggestions for this lot?

    Dahlberg
    Andersson, Witry, Kahl, Lustig
    Kaca, Besara (K), Berget, Larsson
    Karjalainen, IKT

    Noring, Turgott, Bjornstrom Baptiste

    1ft, 0.9itb

Trying to make a late 30pt surge to the single digit overall rank. Haksa looks like a nice punt but I'd have to take a hit to get him, is it worth it? Also my defence looks really shoddy for this week 🙁

That is a solid line up with bases covered. I just wish I could have IKT, personally, but I would have to rely on Nyman.

I do not think a hit for Haksabanovic this week is worth it. However, next week Norrköping play Falkenberg and I am myself considering to getting Haksabanovic then, if I do not get IKT, or have any other fire to put out.

      Good luck!

So my 2 big differentials in Besara (k) and Kaca out in the warm ups? Shame...

Now have I(K)T and Turgott 7pter + Bjornstrom off the bench. The top 10 dream gets further away. 2fts over this IB could prove huge though!

Shame it stopped at just the one. Did you see the guy in the scout league that absolutely nailed his Spissrush and got like 70 pts from it and 100+ I'm total? I don't think it was possible to have gotten a higher score from that chip so far this season!

Oh boy, you were very unlucky Petter, couldn't see that coming, I think it was in the warm ups for both of them.

I've already taken a -4 for the next gameweek, I think the two players I want will rise in price and I have just enough money for them so had to make the move. The last three GWs have got to be about taking (more) risks - given our OR!

Kaca actually sick (not Covid I think) but it broke a day after deadline so nothing I could do. Insanely unlucky but tbh it's been exactly things like that all season, it's been a rough ride 🙂
I've made a lot of bad calls too, trusting Hammarby (Tankovic in particular), Nabil Bahoui and Magnus Eriksson as players who have big potential, but they've let me down more than I could ever have imagined.

Hoping you've all had 'some' use for the tips I've made this season, I think they've been decent but honestly feel a bit fraudulent handing them out with such a bad rank 😉
Hoping to bounce back next season with a LOT of lessons learned from this year haha.

I don't know, I've been taking risks all season more or less and in particular in and around the DGWs, has not been working out at all. Then again, at such a rank it doesn't really matter and the xFun has to be dictating the final few weeks for me 🙂

Good luck Johnny (and all the rest), hope you do more what I say and not what I do - just like the kid eventually 😀

Your tips, comments and scout picks have been brilliant to read and without them I certainly would be far worse off. Like FPL I think there will always be some seasons when things just don't work out well and punts fail more often than they succeed.

Around the half-way point I played about four of my chips/WC going all in but my strategy fell apart quicker than an Ikea wardrobe. Lesson learned for next season. And I've found Allsvenskan much more fun than FPL that's for sure, maybe because it's a relatively small community on here but I always look forward to your articles and comments.

Good luck for the final couple of GWs Petter, I'll be watching my back!

      Cheers mate, very much appreciated!
I like some parts a lot more with Allsvenskan, like the bonus point system that rewards actual good performances (not just goals, assists and CS) more than FPL. The part I don't like as much has to do with the league itself, it can be very difficult to predict and players rarely "haul" quite like in FPL. The community here is gold and I wouldn't have kept it up without it, it's small but delightful and hopefully a few more dare to give it a go next year!
I'd like to try to bring in more Swedish people here as well, to provide more insight into their respective clubs and rumours from the boards.

Ideally more people can write community articles on occasion too, as I've not been able to do both the Scout work and regular articles here. Not sure the preambles were the right way to go but it was about what I could muster.

Haha tbh the DGWs were quite disappointing except for those who held onto PTB and deployed it this last one. Not sure any strategy would have panned out really except moving slowly, taking no hits and nailing captaincy every week (which to be fair isn't really a strategy :))

I don't think you need to be too worried, just look at my this recent history: Sold Besara for the DGW (18 points) for Chilufya (5 points and gets injured). Really annoyed at not going Ulvestad there. Bought Kaca GW26 who then blanks and gets sick for GW27. Bought Besara back for GW27 who then gets injured in the warmup. Brought Turgott in and out in this spell as well, getting a blank and missing his goal this week. Lesson there I guess is don't be too fickle! Also ignored all Malmö players on principle despite knowing they had two great fixtures 😉

Looking ahead to the final gws, what do we expect from teams that we may have heavy investment in?

Malmö have the title wrapped up, Varberg, Ostersunds, Orebro, Sirius, Aik, Mjallby, Hammarby, Norrkoping really not got much to play for. Who are you backing for a late charge?

Top three is still important as it means a chance to play in Europe which could give big money if the clubs qualify, other than just the bragging rights and club pride for a top-three finish. As such, I expect all clubs with a chance to finish there to go for it so wouldn't give up on your Elfsborg, Häcken, Djurgården, Hammarby (haha well, probably should) assets yet.
Also Mjällby have a chance to finish higher than they've ever managed in their history so with a decent schedule and their recent form, it's probably a buy there!

Malmö is an interesting prospect, they have good fixtures to go and it could really go both ways - either they rotate too much and let the youngsters get a chance, or they just smash it completely with players targeting individual goals/awards and eyeing a move abroad in the offseason. I'd imagine the motivation will be lower though and especially in defence you wonder if they really will put in the effort now.

Schedule-wise I'd have a look at Djurgården, Mjällby, Norrköping. I'd stick with AIK defence as they've looked fantastic and are yet to concede with Lustig on the pitch (676 minutes or to make it more readable, 11.2 HOURS :O...).

Mjällby had a really hard time against Sirius last game.
And this time it's on Sirius plastic pitch.
As a Mjällby supporter I'd say we'll have a rough game.
Ogbu on form and on pens so could still deliver.
Would prefer to have the armband on Haksa.

Yeah definitely a season above expectations!
Almost as good as last time we came up (6th place).

Next season will be tough. Ogbu, the coach, Löfgren, Batanero all set to leave.
Might get offers on Sabovic and Agardius might want to give another country one more chance.

I have three. Haksabanovic in for AC. I just might bring in Ogbu for Besara for a -4 if Besara is confirmed out. Was rated 50-50. Poor fixture for Besara anyway.

Leaning towards Haksabanovic as captain at the moment.

Besara is in the squad and was training 2 days ago but rested yesterday, nursing a minor calf injury. I’d say it’s pretty tight, could start and could get benched but if I really had to guess, I’d say bench. Don’t quote me on that though 😉

Done! Besara out for Ogbu (-4). If it breaks even it is OK, injuries and uncertain game time forced my hand. However, I hate taking hits this late in the season. A rank killer with limited upside.

Haksabanovic captain, simply because home advantage.

Hmm it’s tight but for what it’s worth I’m thinking Sirius-Mjällby might be one of those 2-2, 3-2 either way kind of games. Not seeing a clean but could get attacking returns... Really comes down to risk aversion, Andersson’s fixture isn’t horrible either.

I wish I knew, horribly starved for lineup predictions in general. Sometimes you get them at svenskafans.se but that’s from supporters, not journalists. Any particular team you’re thinking of? 🙂

Fantasyguiden is great but unfortunately I don’t think they’ve had the time to update this season, it’s a big task for just 1-2 people to keep running and for absolutely free none the less.

I have wildcard and all framåt left for the last two game weeks,
What’s the highest ceiling front three for the final week?
    Currently thinking
    Nyman, Holmberg, Toivonen

But not feeling that confident in Toivonen

    1. General Nuisance
      • 8 Years

Toivonen is not optimal, but IKT seems to have been struck by Covid.

I would keep Nyman, but I am not so sure about the game time of Holmberg. Apparently, Djurgården do not need strikers, just ask Kujovic...

    2. Meltens

I think that Nyman and Holmberg are great, the third one is tricky given the fixtures but Ludwigson seems to deliver almost every week, perhaps not spectacularly but still consistent. Selmani should be eying up the golden boot and is a few behind so even though he has Djurgården away, he should still be in the mix.

IKT/Toivonen are good options but it’s very hard to guess how Malmö approaches the final game and who plays how many minutes. Per Frick is in great form even though AIK doesn’t feel like a superb fixture. Potentially Söderlund away to Klamath could be a shout as well.

Other than that not too many options unfortunately! I’d marginally back Ludwigson just because a blank feels pretty unlikely there.

So AC had recovered from Covid while Vecchia was (surprisingly) absent. That was a 8 point loss in my transfers (or 6 if you include the Abraham sub in). Getting Haksabanovic and capping him was the right move, but knowing more in advance would have made for a better decision making process. Pep is a pinnacle of transparency in comparison to what goes on in Allsvenskan...

It’s been a very tough season for many reasons, the lack of transparency regarding players fitness definitely not helping. Unfortunately with no real pre game pressers, it’s up to individual journalists/coaches to provide us with updates and not that many do before releasing the squad, at which point it’s most often too late.

I’d hold on to IKT, should probably start or get significant minutes. Maybe look at him to Nyman next week 🙂

Bengtsson is a good option but Örebro are actually no pushovers this season and I think Häcken might struggle to score that many goals this week. I certainly wouldn’t sell him if I had, but I do think there are better options around to get in on!

I’m looking at players going for individual targets and/or a move to a bigger club next season so for me, it’s on Ogbu. Haksabanovic against a leaky Hammarby an option as well, and S Larsson is steady but a bit unspectacular.

Malmö should score a few but guessing who plays and scores isn’t entirely straightforward, especially with AC out. IKT/Toivonen good solid options, if we can assume they start.

Good points. I have feared that Sebastian Larsson would be the favorite for captaincy given Kalmar’s poor form. However, AIK are not firing offensively and Kalmar battle against relegation.

Luckily, I have both Ogbu and Haksabanovic already.

Interesting you talk about Larsson as a captaincy option when I was actually looking to sell as a funds enabler haha

Speaking of players going for individual targets. What's the feelings on Selmani? Great form but awful fixtures. He's been the Callum Wilson of Allsvenskan for me, only getting points when not in my team.

Selmani is angling for a move to a bigger club. However, he is facing the best the defense in the league this GW and has Djurgården next. I am not sure I would make him a priority transfer in. Feels like a coin toss, but certainly not a bad option

My team to a nasty drop last GW, down to 2 119 OR. With the way my team looks now, I won't be able to use Park the Bus until next GW, instead using this GW to sort out a few issues.

The transfers I'm looking at are: Jóhannsson, Witry and Besara to Frick (or Selmani), Haksabanovic and Bengtsson (-4). Which leaves me with this team:

      Janošević
      Kahl - Bengtsson - Larsson - Ekpolo
      Berget - Vecchia - Haksabanovic - Larsson (C)
      Kiese Thelin - Frick/Selmani
