Pro Pundits - Tom

Which FPL assets have been creating the most chances for their clubs this season?

Five-time top 1k finisher Tom Freeman, aka avfc82, talks players with assist potential, Aston Villa and Wolves’ young left wing-back in his latest Pro Pundits column.

Fantasy Premier League (FPL) can at times be unpredictable and often margins are fine.

My team’s performance these past couple of weeks sums it up well. Having returned 70 points in Gameweek 6, the same group massively underwhelmed in 7 with just 39.

As a result, I now sit 351,656th overall with a total of 428 points.

After a bad Gameweek, the temptation to rip it up and start again is always there, but in situations like this, it’s sometimes best to take a step back, bank a transfer and look at the bigger picture, which I’m fairly content with right now.

So, as focus turns to Gameweek 8, in this my latest column I’m going to revisit my ‘creators’ table. Now armed with more data, it again reveals some familiar faces, but there are some lesser-spotted names in there, too.

I’ll also touch upon my club Aston Villa and discuss Wolverhampton Wanderers’ new wing-back, Rayan Ait Nouri (£5.0m).

THE CREATORS

It’s been four Gameweeks since I last shared this data, so I thought I’d take another look and see if any previous trends have changed.

For those that missed it first time round, this list show’s each team’s best creator so far using the chances created metric. We’re still working with small sample sizes and waiting for statistics to settle down, but with seven Gameweeks of data now logged, the picture is starting to become clearer.

When looking at this list, there are a number of names you would expect to see, but there are also quite a few surprises.

Somewhat predictably, Kevin De Bruyne (£11.5m), Mohamed Salah (£12.4m) and James Rodríguez (£7.9m) all feature as they did on the last rundown. However, a new name tops the list.

Thanks for reading, until next time…

Kane, Vardy or maybe Jesus. Or go cheaper, Bamford. Wilson, Anotnio to upgrade your midfield. Plenty of choice, which isn't always helpful. Think I'm going cheap to get funds ready for KDB later. GL

Looking ahead with the fixture swing probably Vardy, Wilson, Watkins or Jesus if Aguero takes longer to recover.

What would you do with Foden?

    Better option?

    A) Rashford
    B) Ziyech

The 1.5m saved on Ziyech allows Son to KDB/Raz in GW10 while keeping Kane.

If I go Rashford I will sell Kane for a City mid and go 352 while keeping Son.

Agree with this. Fixtures after this aren't the best for a fair while, I'm sure he'll still pick up points but at 10.5 and with other great value options or LIV/City options to bring in I think it's time for him to go. Unless MU look like picking up form but even then those fixtures are rough.

    Worth doing which of these?
    1) Saiss + Foden to Coufal + Zaha(-4) Have just Jesus for Mcity ripe matches/Vardy unless i further remove JRodriguez after Fulham
    2) Saiss to Coufal and play Foden, then bring Kdb + Jesus for Son + Kane after their WBA match
    3) Saiss to Cresswell, play Foden, Keep Son + Jesus/Vardy for the run
Bench cover for Foden is Mitchell and James

2 blanks, and a now show last 3 games, Ings still only 11 points infront for ex. I think that is the secret to the cheap assets. just keep them, unless its total misery, which it is not, the team around him is performing pretty ok.

    Danny Ings... NOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

4-6 weeks isn't as bad as it could have been. Practical FPL thoughts:
    - JWP will be on penalties
    - Che Adams the main man up front
    - Obafemi (or Long) could be second striker and represent some value.

We actually create quite a few chances with the high press, so while none of the replacements are as clinical as Ings. I think there will still be a fair few goals.

    Squad is currently

    Martinez Forster
    Semedo Lamptey Justin KWP Robertson
    Salah Grealish Foden Son Bissouma
    Kane DCL Brewster

Thinking of the following for a -4 hit:

    Robertson/Foden/Brewster to Zouma/Jota/Wilson.

    Thoughts?

Is this the only update we will get from the likes of Mourinho before the deadline?

Really not sure if Watkins is a good pick. You're probably better off without him. Think I'm selling him to get Grealish in midfield.

Keep Robbo and TAA for city?

Rest of defence is a shambles with Saiss, Mitchell and Dunne.

the more I work on my WC GW10 draft the more I lean towards a 3-5-2 with a 18-19M max upfront 6.5 / 6 / 4.5 (brewster) which would be a first time for me.

But there seems to be so good value in Midfield this season and with low-priced FW that it's hard to ignore.

Also, clean sheets have dropped to an average of 5.4 per GW (3 previous seasons) to 4.7 this season which is not a big gap but still enough to consider money at the back could be a mistake this year ( a lot of CS wipped out by the number of penalties too)

Moving money forward to attack seems to be where the value is, for now anyway

    GP on maupay

Sometimes mistakes are made and tempers are high," he said.

He said sometimes a line is crossed but there is no problem with Neal, they have dealt with it, and it wasn't his "finest hour".
"It would be nice if everything was rosey," said Potter.

He is playing with the group and is available for selection.

Nice. No need to waste a FT there then. Cheers for sharing
