Rashford starts for Man United as FPL managers turn to Fernandes

Marcus Rashford (£9.6m) has shrugged off his shoulder injury to make an immediate return to the Manchester United line-up.

He picked up the issue in the Gameweek 8 win at Everton, the international break proving long enough to allow full recovery.

His inclusion on his favoured left-hand side of attacking midfield is likely to please even those who captained Bruno Fernandes (£10.7m), considering that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s outfit tend to do best when their key players are involved.

The Portuguese international is the most captained FPL asset among the top 10,000 managers for Gameweek 9, handed the armband by 28.3% of them.

The fact that Anthony Martial (£8.7m) makes his first home Premier League start since Gameweek 4 is also a positive omen, considering his best Project Restart displays came almost exclusively at Old Trafford.

Like Rashford, Harry Maguire (£5.4m) also overcomes an injury flag to start, in defence alongside Victor Lindelöf (£4.9m) and full-backs Alex Telles (£5.5m) and Aaron Wan-Bissaka (£5.4m).

As is to be expected, Fantasy managers remain rather unbothered by what’s on offer at West Bromwich Albion this season.

Backed by 4.7%, non-playing goalkeeper David Button (£4.0m) is their most popular asset, the only one owned by more than 1.4%.

Manchester United XI (4-2-3-1): De Gea; Telles, Maguire, Lindelöf, Wan-Bissaka; Fred, Matić; Rashford, B Fernandes, Mata; Martial.

West Bromwich Albion XI (5-4-1): Johnstone; C Townsend, Bartley, Ivanovic, Ajayi, Furlong; Diangana, Gallagher, Sawyers, M Pereira; Grant.

VAR said the first one wasn't a penalty but the second one was...

And then overturning that blatant WBA penalty tonight.

VAR as a concept is brilliant but as long as there is a mixture of incompetence and bias involved it'll never be as good as it should be.

Oh and before the same childish comments start, I'm not a West Brom fan, a Liverpool fan, a Man Utd hater or bitter about FPL points. None of those. Just a football fan that's sick of this nonsense.

Oh wait, someone with Fernandes captain ignoring facts. It was a penalty, but West Brom should have had one.

            It’s cheating from the referee.

Martial got elbowed in the neck and got sent off for it.

There are plenty of instances where it goes the other way. No one pays attention though. Selective bias.

Selective bias for sure, wba for sure deserved a penalty but martial shirt pull was also a pen and not given.

There will always be human error involved no matter what system you use. I like VAR and I think the referees need a couple of more seasons to get used to it.

      Ye.
It is hard though - due to most of the decisions being subjective rather than objective.
VAR checking for an offside or the goal line technology works pretty well, but that is because of the objectivity.
Every penalty check, possibly red card check and so on it up to the ref, but most of all up to the VAR ref. Unless robots take over the job as refs and VAR refs it will always depend on which person is the ref and which mood he is in.

Its not about the refs or the technology. It's the rules.

They are too subjective and thus leaves it up to interpretation, depending on who's watching the foul. You have to change the rules and have a clear cut off to what's a handball, what's excessive force, etc.

Why does the offside law even exist? Even the smallest of margins would result in an offside these days and they can decide a team's fate these days (remember, last season villa escaped relegation by a goal)...it is a poorly written law imo

for eg: bamford's goal was disallowed because he was pointing to the place where he wanted the ball to be played...

You can say hes inept if you want, which is based on fact, but that just looks like fake news.

Do you really think the FA would allow a fan of a club to referee one of their games?

erm.. Coote gave the penalty to WBA. It was overturned cos VAR questioned the decision so how can you say he is bias. The United penalty was a penalty based on the rules and VAR didn't over rule. Far too many drama queens on tonight

It’s odd that GKs are asked to forgo every instinct they have to close down the ball on pks, they should almost start behind the line so they can still come meet the ball without conceding a retake

          Remember Newcastle 1-4 United?

1-1 in the 85th minute. United then score 3 goals in the last 10 minutes. When teams start pushing out to get the equaliser, United can kill you on the counter.

Not talking about FPL wise... West Brom is horrible and will ship loads of goals.. but he is really good.

Amazing through ball Bruno to Rashford but Rash looks unfit and wastes it

So United players can stamp opposition on foot and not get yellow. FRED takle is blatantly yellow. Ref is being awful.

The instructions are clear: Man United needs and should receive all help they can get to stay up.
