Scoutcast Episode 354 – How can FPL bosses fit in Salah, De Bruyne and Fernandes?

Joe and Az are joined by Karam to look ahead to Gameweek 11 and assess the key challenges facing Fantasy Premier League managers.

Chief among their concerns is the postponement of Friday night’s clash between Aston Villa and Newcastle United. There is a chance that it could be rearranged within the Gameweek but if not, FPL managers face some tough choices. Should they bench or swap out the likes of Villa talisman Jack Grealish (£7.7m) or Newcastle striker Callum Wilson (£6.5m)?

Our Scoutcast trio also discuss the three most talked about players of the week: Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah (£12.2m), Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne (£11.7m) and Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes (£10.9m). These midfield picks are showing remarkable consistency but with hefty price tags, it may be tricky to fit them all in. Can they be ‘covered’ by the likes of Reds midfielder Diogo Jota (£6.8m) and City winger Riyad Mahrez (£8.3m)?

Pep Guardiola’s latest round of roulette is also on the bill. This chat will be of particular interest to those clinging onto City rotation risks such as Raheem Sterling (£11.4m).

Meanwhile, Joe, Az and Karam give their top tips for climbing up the rankings ahead of Christmas. Within this section, Karam takes his turn to pick a differential, which garners approval from Joe and Az.

The usual features are also covered in the show, with next four fixtures frisked, rough with the smooths aired, and transfer and captaincy plans revealed.

If i decide to do Martinez to someone which i probably won't which would be better Meslier or McCarthy

Im just concerned Leeds have gotten lucky with their clean sheets. My mind is swaying to McCarthy

I agree, I owned Meslier for the first 8 GWs and don't regret dropping him for McCarthy on WC.

I have the same dilemma as I want rid of Ryan. I'm leaning towards McCarthy.. Meslier is a good option but what puts me off is Dallas and Ayling offer an equally cheap route into that defence, with the added bonus of attacking returns which Meslier cant offer. Its unlikely Ill double up with Meslier and Dallas/Ayling, so I'll probably go with Mccarthy. Most boring transfer of the year though

I’d keep Ryan. Great fixtures coming up

Buying any one of MArtinez, McCarthy or Meslier is like a game of whackamole.

You will never be on the right one for the 5-6 games when they are getting results

I think Mendy and Lloris are better long term set and forget keepers. Yes, they cost most but i think its obvious why.

Yeah Mendy is best, but I dont like spending 5.1/5.2m on a keeper. I like to keep the spare cash for upgrades elsewhere. The points difference between keepers is never very much

On a Wildcard, would you rather

    Mendy/Robbo/Jota or Chillwell/Dias/Mahrez

both would have James so 2nd one would be Chelsea def double up..

Yea Mahrez or Jota is a tricky call, at least both should start this weekend. Maybe if you got Salah or Mane get Mahrez, if you got KDB or Jesus then get Jota.
Both carry rotation risks though ofc, I’d probably lean towards Mahrez personally (am a Jota owner with no City).

And yea I really like Reguilon, chances of cs’s very good and his attacking is decent. In big games you won’t see him get forward though as he has been told not to do so, vs lesser opponents he should be good for attacking returns.
I’m trying to figure out how to get Reguilon in the next couple, I’d like him vs Arsenal, gut says he hauls

    Mccarthy
    Chilwell, Coufal, Lamptey, Kilman, Michell
    Salah, Son, Sterling, Jota, Grealish
    Dcl, Vardy

    00itb 1 ft

    A. Sterling, Michell to Mahrez and any defender (Laporte/Mendy/Walker) - 4
    B. Sterling, Kilman to Kdb, Filips/Wiliams - 4

How can they know he won't? If Alisson were out with a long-term injury (he's not, but if he were), then it looks like Kelleher would play every match -- he seems to have moved ahead of Adrian on the depth chart now.

Might need a little hand lads....

    My team is;

    McCarthy
    Robbo**, Lamptey, Cancelo**
    Bruno, Ziyech, Jota, Grealish**
    Kane, DCL, Wilson

    Steer, Dallas, Kilman, Bissouma.

    1FT, 3.9 ITB

I foolishly went Cancelo over Dias last week, plan was to go Ziyech to KDB this week, but with Cancelo not starting (and maybe not going to start), Robbo on a knock and Grealish/Wilson certain not to play, gives me a dilemma. I also would prefer not to sell Grealish.

    Do I;

    A) suck it up, still go Ziyech to KDB, play Dallas/Bissouma for Grealish/Wilson, and hope Cancelo/Robbo play?
    B) Cut my losses and go Cancelo to Dias?
    C) Robbo to Chilwell?
    D) Cancelo/Robbo - Dias/Chilwell (-4)
    E) Cancelo/Robbo/Ziyech - Dias/Chilwell/KDB (-8)

    Martínez* - Steer*
Chilwell, Cresswell, Dias, Lamptey - Mitchell
Bruno, Sterling, Jota, Anguissa - Grealish*
    DCL, Vardy - Wilson*

    1 FT, 3.9 ITB

(My original idea was Sterling -> KDB, but with the postponed match, I'm keeping him and crossing fingers)

    A) Mitchell -> Mendy (and play with 5 defenders, which I'm not a fan of)
    B) Anguissa -> Mahrez (will he play this GW?)

What’s the best transfer to make here?

    Martinez
    Chilwell, Taylor, Lamptey, Coufal
    KDB, Fernandes, Son, Burke
    Vardy, DCL

    Forster, Mitchell, Grealish, Wilson

    1.1itb, 1FT

    A. Mitchell > Dallas
    B. Burke > Soucek
    C. Martinez > McCarthy
    D. Grealish > Mahrez (only 0.1 tied up)
    E. Something entirely different

"I'm not going to say about the nature of his injury. I think he has a good chance of playing at the weekend, I believe he will play."

Not just Kane injured: Kane, Reguilon, Lamela and Vinicius. Good grief.

    This week) Bellerin --- James

Next week) Cancelo + Son + DCL --- Dallas + Salah + Bamford

    Yay or Nay?

Jose might be double bluffing here. We think it's kind games and that Kane will play, but maybe he is legit not going to play?

This. Arteta will think it is double bluff but actually it is triple bluff from Jose.

As a Martinez, Grealish, Reguilon and Kane owner this is getting tricky!

Afternoon guys, I’m going to be playing my wildcard in a couple of game-weeks, I was wondering if you guys had any ideas on what differentials could bang!
