My final FPL transfer decisions ahead of Gameweek 16 Wildcard

After an eventful Gameweek 14, in which I almost committed the deadly sin of selling Mohamed Salah (£12.5m), I couldn’t be happier with the end result: a total of 93 points and an overall rank well inside the Top 20K for the first time since Gameweek 10.

Considering the rumours from several sources saying Salah was going to be rested at Selhurst Park, I almost pulled the trigger and sold him for Kevin De Bruyne (£11.8m) on Saturday morning. However, since I wasn’t 100% convinced by the rumours, I decided to hold fire and hope for a cameo from the Liverpool midfielder at the very least. After all, it would be heartbreaking to sell him ahead of such a nice fixture just to find out the rumours weren’t true.

However, the rumours were very true and he was indeed benched. But Salah doesn’t need many minutes to wreak havoc and after his 16-pointer, I was relieved to have decided to save my transfer. In addition, Ruben Dias (£5.7m), Andrew Robertson (£7.3m), Jack Grealish (£7.8m) and my captain Bruno Fernandes (£11.0m) all delivered nine points or more, which felt great after three red arrows in a row.

Very tricky one. I think Mings for the assured starts and the greater likelihood of a cleansheet. Alioski has a better chance of attacking returns but I'm not sure he's the player who will be able to unlock a Burnley side I expect will sit deep. Go Mings imo

in the sub 7.1 bracket there is him bowen and mount and for me Maddison is the best of that trio maybe im biased because of last year tho.
But there is a good window to swap grealish to maddison from next week and can look to swap back in 20 or even 23 depending on form

Is he that good of an FPL option though? Raphinha and Walcott both much cheaper and more goal facing in my mind. Bowen also a better option

LEI are much better team when they click with Ndidi is fit and hopefully Castagne. I am not sure Raphinha and Bowen are better than a fit Maddison and on form LEI.

TAA Robertson are potentially better I agree (the team, fixtures and their sources of points). The others are level if not inferior I think. But thanks for the opinion.

Problem I have with Maddison is consistency and whether he's a good FPL player. Example would be last season in the 9-0 v Southampton, I had him in that and he wasn't involved in a single goal until the 9th which he scored. I think Rodgers has also suggested he may have to manage his minutes a bit due to his injury issues of late

same here I got on him at the right time last year and maybe held too long tbh but he gave me a steady stream of points and 7.1 is a good price and fixtures look good, plus with players coming back from injury in def and ndidi back behind him I think he is a solid asset in waiting and could be a great pick

If you feel like going for it then do, this place can be a real echo chamber here a lot of the time (just look at the hype around Raphinha currently for example in spite of the fact that he looked better in other games compared to last weeks', but because he got 2 assists he's now so high up on a lot of people's lists), if you think he's a good option give it a go, good luck!

Sure cheers mate, just want to check whether I've missed anything. I had a look at the recent stats and it looks promising, not up there yet but the upcoming fixtures could propel his stats.

Maddison is a good option and appears to be getting his fitness. Midfield slots are precious though and he's competing with Grealish who looks better.

Yes he's improved in the last few GWs. Earlier he was sluggish and looked tired. Am planning Grealish to him and post DGW back again to Grealish. They are at the same-ish price range.

Isn't maybe keeping Chilwell not completely crazy? If he's only to miss 1 game, then maybe transferring out a player which has double gw soon not a good idea? I've been busy with christmas and would need to do some maths but I'm quite reluctant to sell him. Trying to fit TAA somehow in his place but can't do it so far.

The problem is that I don't. I could probably get Dallas for Chilwell but then I would like to get TAA in the near future for Dallas anyways. I'm not sure that exactly pays off.

My defense is Robbo - Chilwell - James - Masuaku - 3.9m. 1ft and Masuaku to Coufal seems like the most obvious thing to do with it.

Masuaku the priority certainly. Coufal's Mrs just had a baby though so although I think he'll play he could miss.

Chilwell/James may play but odds are against you so a hit is justified for one of them imho

Not crazy at all. This is one of the reasons Mark is doing well this year -- he has enough bench strength so he doesn't have to panic-sell short-term injured players. He just rotates his bench options in, and makes moves that are good for the long term.

Don’t shoot the messenger....just watch it for yourself.

BBC weather have had back to back half hour weather reports predicting possible snow for Monday evening in the SE (Palace and Chelsea games).

    Word for word.

“We’re keeping a very close eye on this developing weather” (snow)

It’s new, and it may change I suppose, even by morning....but...that’s what they’re saying right now.

Only thing is that it will block you to do some crazy stuff such as doubling Salah Mane up

Its just been posted that Mahrez and Foden have both tested positive.

Unless you post a source to back up statements like that do not post at all

I think I'd be tempted to hold Mahrez against New. Why would you transfer him out this week unless you expect him not to start?

Can't really go wrong with either of them. Personally think go with more in form player this season, so Robertson. But Trent on set pieces always enticing

      Coufal I reckon

Play coufal. If he is out due to the recent baby then he won't be in the squad. If he is in then he will play from the start.

So play coufal and sort your bench order properly

50/50 he is "due a rest" but he is also the best partner to stones for Pep to secure a cleansheet

True and has has played all minutes so far in the league. He should be able to play 3 games in 7 days. Then gets a 6 days rest after Chelsea game. Hoping for the best

FPL transfers are like a run on the bank

I had no intention of selling Chilwell tonight as I wanted to wait til tomorrow, but because his sell percentage is nearing 100, I do it because of fear I will get caught out.

The next person who comes along who didn't want to sell Chilwell is now being forced to because I just sold him and I am actively making the situation worse..

The way player prices work in FPL is quite silly.

It's not any different from any other kind of market. If no one wants something anymore, its price drops.

But no one is forced to sell. Managers who want a differential will take the price drop on the chin and welcome the potential for greater rank rises when their asset hauls.

It is very different from most markets

Unless your local supplier or housing market has a hidden formula that resets daily and has an artificial cut off time of 1:30am?

Well I guess FPL could change it so that prices could change at any time of any day. I'm not sure how that would make life better for FPL managers.
