Villa handed new Double Gameweek 19 schedule as Everton, Leeds and Saints lose key fixtures

Fantasy Premier League managers have planning their Double Gameweek 19 in something of a limbo state right now – and the situation changed again on Thursday morning.

Aston Villa’s Sunday afternoon meeting with Everton was postponed, handing the Toffees a Blank Gameweek in the upcoming round of games.

However, Villa are still set for a Double Gameweek as their home match against Newcastle was rearranged for Saturday, January 23.

That means they face Manchester City (away) and the Magpies (home) in Double Gameweek 19, while Steve Bruce’s men now face Arsenal and Villa (both away) in the bumper round of fixtures.

Elsewhere, it was confirmed on Wednesday evening that Leeds’ meeting with Southampton, originally, scheduled for Wednesday, January 20, had been postponed to accommodate FA Cup commitments.

While this was not a massive surprise, following multiple leaks from a variety of outlets, its Fantasy impact is nonetheless significant when it comes to plans for Double Gameweek 19.

Managers who had spent weeks engineering 12 or more Double Gameweek players and eyeing a Bench Boost (along with a hit or two) will be forced back to the drawing board for three days of fraught reshuffling.

Leeds players, in particular, were very well-backed, on the back of their recent form and favourable-looking ties, with many leading managers advocating a double or even triple-up.

Suffice to say, the collection of Double Gameweek players in contention for Fantasy inclusion, is in flux once again.

Naturally, we will be keeping a watchful eye out for changes, updating our free and Premium Members tools accordingly (as we have with the Season Ticker for Southampton Leeds) and, of course, delivering the usual swathe of insight and opinion from the best Fantasy managerial minds on how to deal with these challenges and which strategies to follow before the 11:00 GMT deadline on Saturday.

Close, as I feel it's going to be a bit of rubbish chip this season.

If McCarthy is confirmed back, it maybe swings it to a yes.

I have Kane and Bamford with only 2 fixtures between them, and up to 9.1m for a DGW forward - who would you get?
    Antonio, Cavani, Martial (injured?), Watkins?

I'd probably go Antonio, got the best fixtures at least and I'd say a nailed starter too.

      1. Antonio
      2. Watkins
      3. Cavani/Martial

I think with Cavani and Martial you'll likely take them out later, whereas the money saved on Antonio and Watkins helps you out elsewhere for future transfers too

Which of the below do you prefer?

    A) Trent, Son to Cancelo, KDB (-4, 9 DGW players)
    B) Lewis, Son, Kane to Cancelo, KDB, Antonio (-8, 11 DGW players)

    Current team:
    Martinez,
    Trent, Dias, Coufal,
    Salah, Son, Fernandes, Grealish, Soucek,
    Kane, Bamford.

    Forster, Lewis, Dallas, Brewster.

    Thanks guys

I wouldn't take Son and Kane out for a -8 for a crocked Antonio. I don't love A either, but if I had to choose, definitely A.

Resigned myself to no bench boost, so now trying to maximise the first 11.

    Options:
    A) Anguissa > Soucek
    B) Adams > Antonio
    C) Both -4

If I don't change striker i'll start Bamford - if I get Antonio then Bamford is first sub.

I'm currently leaning towards C. Thoughts and why?

I feel this also, my gut says Antonio is a disaster waiting to happen. At best he is getting very limited minutes, at worst he is going off injured again..

I see a lot of people abandoning their planned bench boosts because, for example, Leeds only have a single fixture now. I still plan to BB this week with 2 (maybe 3) Leeds players, 3 Spurs players, and McCarthy as one of my keepers.

The way this season is going - and frankly in any season - you will always struggle to get 15 x DGW players, let alone 15 x *good* DGW players. The perfect DGW BB is a myth.

Don't let perfect be the enemy of good. Don't rip up current plans if you don't have to. Be adaptable, but don't panic.

Agreed. Too much is expected of bench boost. In any other gameweek you’d be delighted to have Leeds players against Brighton. Take it while you can. I’m only not BBing because mine is Peacock-Farrell, Saiss, Dunne and Brewster

Well said, I'll probably BB (2 Leeds and Son as SGWers) to eek a green arrow (don't have Kdb) and keep up a steady stream of marginal gains. I'll be happier after GW 19 to focus on a strong core of players.
