Villa handed new Double Gameweek 19 schedule as Everton, Leeds and Saints lose key fixtures

Fantasy Premier League managers have planning their Double Gameweek 19 in something of a limbo state right now – and the situation changed again on Thursday morning.

Aston Villa’s Sunday afternoon meeting with Everton was postponed, handing the Toffees a Blank Gameweek in the upcoming round of games.

However, Villa are still set for a Double Gameweek as their home match against Newcastle was rearranged for Saturday, January 23.

That means they face Manchester City (away) and the Magpies (home) in Double Gameweek 19, while Steve Bruce’s men now face Arsenal and Villa (both away) in the bumper round of fixtures.

Elsewhere, it was confirmed on Wednesday evening that Leeds’ meeting with Southampton, originally, scheduled for Wednesday, January 20, had been postponed to accommodate FA Cup commitments.

While this was not a massive surprise, following multiple leaks from a variety of outlets, its Fantasy impact is nonetheless significant when it comes to plans for Double Gameweek 19.

Managers who had spent weeks engineering 12 or more Double Gameweek players and eyeing a Bench Boost (along with a hit or two) will be forced back to the drawing board for three days of fraught reshuffling.

Leeds players, in particular, were very well-backed, on the back of their recent form and favourable-looking ties, with many leading managers advocating a double or even triple-up.

Suffice to say, the collection of Double Gameweek players in contention for Fantasy inclusion, is in flux once again.

Naturally, we will be keeping a watchful eye out for changes, updating our free and Premium Members tools accordingly (as we have with the Season Ticker for Southampton Leeds) and, of course, delivering the usual swathe of insight and opinion from the best Fantasy managerial minds on how to deal with these challenges and which strategies to follow before the 11:00 GMT deadline on Saturday.

Check out our Double Gameweek 19 page for the latest information, insight and ideas.

Paul Tierny has awarded Utd 5 penalties in the last 10 games and 1 against them. He has also awarded Liverpool 0 penalties in 14 matches and 1 against them. For context

Cancelo. He is by far the bigger threat going forward.

If he scores once and gets bonus, he can afford to not play and still come out ahead against Dias.

This was my exact reasoning when I went for Cancelo over Dias in GW9. He was then benched the next game and has ended up contributing no goals. I then sold him for 5.4 as I didn't want a non-nailed premium defender over Christmas and he proceeded to rocket up in price. And now we're back to the same conversation about Dias and Cancelo except 10 weeks on and they're both 5.8 instead. Reminds me of an Einstein quote about insanity

City fullbacks always going to be a headache, just like attackers, Jesus, aguero, Mahrez, Foden, Bruno, Torres. Rotation headaches

    What would you do? 🙂 1FT - 0.5 ITB

    Areola
    AWB - Dias - Stones - Coufal
    Rashford - KDB - Bruno - Son
    Kane - Antonio

    (Martínez, Holding, Smith Rowe, Brewstar)

Solid team, I'd be tempted to save the FT, although I would start Martinez instead of Areola.

Imo Villa have a better chance to keep a CS against Newcastle than Fulham against either Chelsea or United and I don't think there will be any major differences in numbers of saves.

This news has suddenly given me the option of using the BB. I can do:
    Out - Steer & McGoldrick
    In - Johnstone & Watkins

This would be for a -4, then I'd have a bench of:
    Johnstone, Wilson, Yedlin & Holding.

Would that be a decent enough bench to play the BB or should I TC KDB instead? Thanks

Even though Newcastle has a DGW I'm not convinced they will win. I wouldn't BB. KDB was "exhausted" with 15-20 mins left last night so risky with TC

Yeah seven games for your bench you're working off a floor of 14 points. Will be hard to do better later in the season.

Damn my plan was to take a hit and play bench boost. But now i dont know what to do.
    Any suggestions?

How about these moves for a -4:

    Adams > Antonio

Dallas > Ogbonna (can't afford Creswell)

Would give me 9x DGW players - not planning on using BB

    Martinez
    Cancelo, Stones, Dallas
    Salah, Bruno, Son, Grealish, Soucek
    Kane, Bamford

    (Forster, Bednarek, DCL*, Douglas)
With 1FT and 1.3 itb which should I do?

    A) Bednarek > Cresswell
    B) DCL > Antonio
    C) Son + DCL > KDB + Antonio (-4)

What are folk doing with DCL? Worth a hit to move him out for Antonio (surely won't play both games?) or Watkins (might have Covid?)? Otherwise I'd play 4 at the back (Konsa comes in).

    Thanks

If you can manage without maybe it's worth holding knowing Everton are getting everyone back fit and that they have 2 games to be rearranged now, but he could be out for a few weeks yet so you might lose a good bit of value on him

Not bitter about that sterling penalty at all. Wasn't even bothered about KDB taking it, assist would have been extra 12 points immediately.

Sterling is so technically flawed I assumed he was going to miss as soon as he stepped up.

If I do Kane + Raphinha > Salah + Brewster, I will play both:

          Salah Son KDB Bruno Grealish
          Wilson Bamford

Yeah I expect him to start both. Happy he will stay a little under the radar by not hauling yesterday.

Bringing in one of these and starting them:

      Stones (DGW)
      Antonio (DGW)
      Bamford (SGW)

I have four SGW players - Son, Bamford, Dallas and Ayling. Would you BB?

How many hits will you be taken for it?

On a -4 at the moment, would need to be a -8 to get a second keeper:

          Martinez ?
          Stones Dias Coufal Dallas Ayling
          Salah Bruno KDB Soucek Son
          Watkins Antonio Bamford

Leeds lads and Son have good single GWs. Hold off on your transfers Saturday morning anyways.

I just don't have the bottle to use a chip with Covid rampant

Thank you - I agree but if all the games happen and Leeds keep a clean sheet with a Bamford hat trick.... I'll just wait and take a view on Saturday. Thanks again for your input.

I would lean towards no. Partly because of the risk of another game being called off and taking another -4 to do it.
If you still have your wildcard for the 2nd half, you can use that to set up for fixtures down the line.
It's only your bench which matters, so actually a week with a DGW for 2 cheaper teams could be the ideal time to use it

      Have no City..

      Thoughts on Salah+Grealish+Taylor -> KDB+Foden+Dias for -8?
