Scoutcast Episode 363 – Everton on the radar as Kane joins the injury list

Joe and Seb are joined by Ted to look at the key issues facing Fantasy Premier League managers ahead of Gameweek 21.

This latest Scoutcast episode proved a rollercoaster for Joe, Seb and their guest Ted, from TedTalks FPL, taking place during Thursday night’s eventful clash between Tottenham and Liverpool.

With Son Heung-min (£9.8m) and Mohamed Salah (£12.5m) goals ruled out, a haul for Sadio Mane (£11.8m) and an injury, possibly for weeks, to Harry Kane (£11.3m), there was plenty for our trio to mull over.

As the only Mane owner of the three, Joe struggled to contain his excitement in particular.

But where now for the Gameweek 21 captaincy, especially as Kane had been penciled in by many FPL managers to receive the armband ahead of Spurs encounter with Brighton?

Everton’s returning assets could be the answer. Dominic Calvert Lewin (£7.6m), Lucas Digne (£6.0) and James Rodriguez (£7.7m) are among Toffees stars to return from injury ahead of a kind run of games.

Ted’s already tripled up on Carlo Ancelotti’s troops and Joe and Seb are keen to invest too.

A key factor in Ted’s bold move has been his analysis from his statistical graphs over recent matches. Armed with a quintet of graphical delights he takes the Scoutcast team through his latest thoughts on chance creation to clean sheet probability.

His charts also help him to pick a differential, following some recent successes for the show, thanks to West Ham and Manchester City’s low owned gems.

Seb has some intriguing thoughts on attacking defenders, especially with new management and tactics at Chelsea.

Meanwhile, the crew reveal their transfers and fresh captaincy thoughts ahead Gameweek 21 as well as consider the latest high-fliers on the fixture ticker.

This is team assuming carry transfer. Plan was Mané to Son but think Mané now a keep. Would like DCL for Bamford but .7m short so means -4. Raphinha to Anguissa, McCarthy to Forster or Robertson to Digne might work.

What would you do- stick or take hit for DCL and if so where would you raise cash ?

    Martinez
    Cancelo Dias Robertson
    Salah Bruno Mané Gundogan (c)
    Watkins Antonio Bamford

    McCarthy Raphinha Dallas Coufal

Before playing Leeds on a ploughed field and Fulham's mighty attack Brighton were in the bottom 5 for Shots in the Box conceded (20th), xg conceded (17th) and Big chances conceded (16th) over the 4 matches between GW15-18.

    Son(c) is tempting!

I look at a more recent or shorter sample size (last 4-6 matches) to evaluate the form a defence...
Also need to look at quality of opposition at times.

Fair, I don’t consider spurs a quality attack without Kane and I think they will struggle against Brighton but time will tell! We’ve done well without Kane before !

Using stats like this is the same as reading tea leaves to predict the future.

They played city and west ham away, in form arsenal and a wolves side that are much better than their current position. Considering Brighton's style of play I'd fully expect them to have bad stats for those games.

    Best move?

    A. Lowton >> Cancelo
    B. Raphina >> Son
    C. Raphina >> Sterling (possible Captain)
    D. A+B for -4

    Johnstone
    Robbo, Dias, Coufal
    Salah, Bruno, Gündo, Raphina
    DCL, Bamford, Antonio
    (McCarthy, Soucek, Dallas, Lowton)

I thought you might say that after your post above. I guess A is a must? And B is pretty good but is it worth the -4?

Sets you up for Spurs extra games and Son is probably the best captain option in 23.

Yes I think A is a no brainer and Im doing Raphinha & Bamford to Son & DCL for a hit so I fee it is worth it specially if you captain him in 21 or 23.

I've just brought in Mane to do the double up with Salah

Can't look past the fixtures and Pool seemingly finding some form

I wouldn't transfer James, Tuchel said it was experience he wanted for his first game in charge. Doesn't mean that's always going to be the case, now he sees them more, might play James. One more week to see. The rest look fine, Im thinking of Kane to DCL with those fixtures. But Mourinho might be messing with us, is one of my worries. Kane doesnt recover as quickly from ankle problems though.

I'm on -4. Wanted to bring in Stones & watkins thinking Kane was going to be ok.
Anyway, shall i go to a -8 and bring in DCL, I like Evertons fixtures in the next 4 so its a medium term transfer.
If we scores great, if not I can amortize that cost over the 4 GWs seems fine.

Someone here kindly reminded me about this last night. In September, this is what Jose had to say about Son: "Tottenham forward 'out for a while' with hamstring injury."

I had just gotten Son in as a part of an -8 course correction attempt, so I pulled the trigger and wildcarded.

Not saying Kane is not injured, I think the chances are that he is. Am I going to offload him for a hit or even two before next week? Absolutely not.

    2FT and considering options:

    A) Adams or Bamford -> DCL
    B) Raphinha -> Gundogan
    C) both
    D) Something else?!

    Current team:

    Johnstone (McCarthy)

    Cancelo, Stones, Robertson (Dallas, Coufal)

    Salah, Son, Raphinha, Fernandes (Soucek)

    Bamford, Antonio, Adams

    Thanks!

Is it worth making any of these moves for a hit?
    A - Soucek > Son
    B - Soucek > Mane
    C - Dallas > Digne
    D - Creswell > Digne
