Five-time top 1k finisher on Double Gameweek players, captaincy and chip strategy

One of the world’s best FPL managers, Tom Freeman, reveals his team plans for Double Gameweek 24 and beyond.

Gameweek 23 has drawn to a close and it went pretty well for me, as I ended on a total of 76 points.

However, with the fixtures coming thick and fast, focus has already turned to the forthcoming doubles. We’ll find out more once this week’s FA Cup fifth-round ties are complete, but for now, we at least know who will play twice in Gameweeks 24 and 25.

With all of my chips still intact, it’s going to be pretty exciting, but I’m also fully aware that it’s a pivotal stage of the season which I need to get right.

So, in this my latest column, I’m going to note down some thoughts on the teams involved in this week’s Double Gameweek and also outline my plans moving forward.

For context, here is how I’m currently set up, with two free transfers:

    Just to know your opinions on some SGW vs DGW players. Do you honestly believe that Burnley defenders or DCL (Who will probably blank vs City) score more than AWB playing vs Westbrom? I personally do not think so.

      Not much in it, but I expect Burnley defenders and DCL to outscore AWB, yes. I expect AWB to score 6 points

      I’m looking at BB this week, TC Kane 26 and dead end 29 with WC for 30. Kane at home to Southampton in a double is going to be massive. Can’t see another opportunity like that

        Yeah, I was definitely planning on getting Kane and captaining him for GW26 if Spurs get the double.

        I think I'm looking at WC25 if some teams like Villa get a double in 26 and play 29. And for 25 have 2 Leeds max (Raph and Bamford/Dallas) as well as 2x Southampton if they beat Wolves in the cup.

        It's so confusing....

    For free hitters into gw29 lots of blanks is great.

    The fixtures look tight anyhow. But the picks would either be Everton away at WBA or Spurs home to Southampton.

    Need a plum fixture to pile into for attacking returns.

        Isn't it much more valuable to hold FH?

        Lots of people seemed to have wasted it in gw18 on the Leeds v Southampton fixture, and they'll be unlikely to hit more than 2 or 3 into the blank.

        Likely you'll turn out 4 or 5 players plus a full bench more than many.
