Captain Sensible

Who is the best FPL captain for Double Gameweek 25?

Fantasy Premier League are largely between Southampton and Leeds United assets for the Double Gameweek 25 captaincy.

Patrick Bamford (£6.9), Raphinha (£5.4m) and Danny Ings (£8.4m) have replaced the usual suspects as the front-runners considering they each face two fixtures in the next week.

Despite Leeds and Southampton sitting 11th and 13th in the Premier League respectively, they offer plenty of entertainment value for neutral fans thanks to Marcelo Bielsa and Ralph Hasenhüttl’s offensive approaches to the game.

Still, some Fantasy managers might be tempted by some of the single Gameweek options, especially with Bruno Fernandes (£11.5m) facing an out-of-form Newcastle defence.

As ever, the Captain Sensible article is here to help with your Double Gameweek 25 captaincy decision. As this uses extensive data from the Fantasy Football Scout Premium Members Area, only those with a valid subscription can access it in full.

CAPTAIN POLL

Bamford is the runaway leader in this week’s Captaincy Poll, nearly 60.0% of our voters willing to hand the armband to Leeds’ leading goal-scorer.

Behind him in the second place is team-mate Raphinha, just short of 14.0% of total votes. The former Rennes player has now delivered Fantasy returns in each of his last five Premier League appearances and, of course, as a midfielder, stands to be better rewarded for clean sheets and goals than Bamford.

Fernandes and Ings are tied in third, gaining 7.8% of votes each.

Understandably, Fantasy managers are willing to back Leeds assets given their attacking potential and high ceiling but are Fernandes and Ings capable of delivering bigger scores as this week’s differential captaincy picks? Is there perhaps an overlooked player, for example the Goals Imminent table king Nathan Redmond (£6.4m), worth our consideration

I feel quite sad to say goodbye to Soucek as I’ve had him from the beginning.

But on the other hand I’m very happy that I never have to worry about benching his haul again!!

Same for Raph. Although I glad I got a few of his hauls. Most painful was benching his brace in gw20, first sub!

    Salah Bruno son Gundogan grealish

Who to swap out for raphina?

How sure are we that Gundogan starts btw?

If you're absolutely set on bringing him in, it has to be Grealish out of those. Keep in mind Grealish has some doubles to come. Easy to switch back though.

Seems quite likely but who knows.

    Bench 1 ?

    a) Raphinha
    b) Sterling
    c) Salah
    d) Fernandes
    e) Gundo
    f) Bamford
    g)Ings
    e) Watkins

    Im thinking Gundo...

Unless we’re told gundo is out injured I can’t imagine why you would ever consider benching him atm...

Even if Gundo is fit don't you think Pep might keep him out or give him just a few minutes as he has CL game 3 days after?

Couldn’t he do that just as easily with Sterling?

I don’t like to get into the pep guessing game because he is simply unpredictable as we all know. However since gundo is coming back from injury I expect him to start to secure the win or else to not feature at all. He is their most important player atm.

I would want Raphinha for sure this week.

But if you want Kane because you think he’ll clean up in 26, surely you expect son to also? They tend to help each other out and we know how explosive son can be.

Yeah I'm really not sure, I think I'm going to hold off wildcarding and use triple captain on Kane in 26 (just feel more comfortable having it on him over son) ...but at the same time I'm equally worried having both is overkil?

Can't see another way to get Raphinha unless I gamble on Gundogan being out then replace him with Raphina, then do the same move in reverse for 26?

        white for 29

konsa ok double probably doesn't warrant the double up tho plays 29 but bad fixture but there is the SHU game that could be throw in to the mix at some point

Pep said Man city will have extra games "against wolves then Southampton", that means 26 will likely have Tottenham Fulham instead of Southampton Totteham right, as it would not make sense for Southampton have 3 doubles in a row, if Pep is suggesting the latter game is in 27.

Thinking of doing Sterling to Kdb this week, what ya reckon?

Also have a massive bench headache. I've asked this a couple of times now but just want to get a wider set of answers...
    Play 2:
    A) Sterling (could be KDB)
    B) Gundo
    C) Cavani

Cavani has the fixture but really can't see past how good city look at the moment.

Play A and B (apparently Cavani has a knock). I’m holding Sterling one more week as I want to assess where KDB plays before switching.

Yea I'm just suspicious Cavanis knock is a Europa League special. Think id be more worried about Gundo and sterling on the bench than him though so I guess they answers it.
Thanks, I think Ill do the same with sterling. Last chance for him now.
