FFS Cup

The latest FFS Cup fixtures and results

There are £300-worth of prizes up for grabs in both our FFS Open Cup and FFS Members Cup, which have now reached the last-16 stage.

We round up the latest fixtures and results in our regular article below.

FFS OPEN CUP

The results from the sixth round of our FFS Open Cup can be viewed here.

The draw for the seventh round of our FFS Open Cup can be viewed here.

Tufs is the only manager left in both of our cup competitions, with his 10th successive green arrow seeing him through to the round of 16 and putting him in with a great chance of a fourth consecutive top 10,000 overall rank (OR).

He saw off Hungry Singh 65-56 in round six of our FFS Cup and will next face RobinHuth as he continues his tilt at an unlikely double.

Three managers in the top 10k still remain, with Shuddahaddum, kenzo and Harr1son all progressing.

ronaldez continues to go deep into the tournament despite having a comparatively difficult season: although he only entered the top one million in Gameweek 29, he has made it through to the last 16 after a 65-37 win over Jarvish.

He next faces Shuddahaddum, who is our highest-ranked competitor at 2,204th.

All of our other remaining managers sit within the top 100k and Zedz was thankful of his lofty position, as his superior OR saw him through on a tie-break after a 65-all draw with the unfortunate stonerrocks.

dfwmimp‘s excellent Gameweek 31 score of 82 was the best of round six and more than enough to see off Lord.

FFS MEMBERS CUP

The results from the fifth round of our FFS Members Cup can be viewed here.

The full draw for the sixth round of our FFS Members Cup can be viewed here.

The aforementioned Lord. was the manager defeated by Tufs in his bid for FFS Members Cup glory, with the latter prevailing 65-38.

Mohd Rodzi, who defeated the high-flying Mr. Rabbit, now awaits in the last 16.

Mr. Rabbit and Armaan.ag were our two highest-ranked managers going into round five but both had tough Gameweeks and exited the competition, with the latter seen off by Cleanmax 11, who just happens to be the surviving FPL boss with the lowest OR.

Indeed, six of our last 16 sit outside the top 100,000, with Pumped Up Kicks the only manager within the top 10k.

Hasselbaink Forever was desperately unlucky to bow out, as his score of 70 would have been good enough to progress in 13 other last-32 ties – but it wasn’t sufficient to see off EUG, who bagged two more points.

leo_messi, by contrast, managed to squeak through despite scoring just 39 points in Gameweek 31.

Rossaldinho‘s score of 74 was the best of the round.

HOW DO THE CUP COMPETITIONS WORK?

The FFS Cup is very similar to the Fantasy Premier League’s own cup game.

Entrants who qualify for the first round were randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores).

In the event of a draw, the manager highest in the overall FPL rankings after the tie will progress.

I don't think there's that much to gain from TCing Kane this gameweek.
Because everyone and their dog will have him as captain, plus he might not even play the second game with the cup final just days away.
So I see gains limited to be honest

I'm considering it, and have seen plenty of others doing same around these parts. I'm tempted most by the 'clarity' of this DGW vs. any future ones and Kane's nailed-ness, though that said it does feel a bit conservative.

Totally, reckon (hope) you're right and will likely play it myself - I think what I mean is, I've always considered this chip to be a fun one and I've had really good results/luck with it in seasons past, but I'm not finding the Kane option exciting this time around. But maybe that's just because it's been such a weird season!

I think anyone who doesn't cap or trip cap Kane this week is just being different for differents sake and probably dont have an OR to play for. I think people get tunnel vision on here, giving people grief for going for a "template" option, when in fact it's template on here but against the whole game it will still gain rank. Just because everyone and their dog is going for Kane TC doesnt mean it's a bad idea, its because it obviously is a good idea..

I agree. The GW31 WC template did very well; it was one of those cases where almost all of the picks made sense based on fixtures and form and those that went with it were rewarded with significant ranks increases. We shouldn’t forget that templates are just based on the most popular picks within a certain segment of managers, and the likelihood of a lot of teams having exactly the same squads is actually quite small.

Re Kane TC, I guess the only risk is whether he will play both games but I see this as only a minor risk; Jose’s job may be on the line if he doesn’t make top 4, and I think he will play his best players into the ground over what remains of the season.

How many times has Kane returned better than Son since he came back into the side in 23? You might be interested to check 😉

When you check that one out you need to look at the games they both started.

The answer is Son has returned better than Kane 3 times and Kane better just the once.

Interesting; but for me, Son hasn’t passed the eye test recently and with Kane going for the golden boot as well as being on penalties makes Kane for me the better pick.

He's only had the one game back and before that he looked great to me

Personally don't buy into the going for the Golden Boot malarkey. Kane and Salah have always been greedy - don't think they become more greedy at this time of year.

Pens matter of course - they're all that have kept Vardy and Salah afloat this year.

If you had a decent rank, say 100 OR, and more than likely this is your only chance to win the thing (granted, it is an outside chance), would you go for it with Son (c) or pick a different battle another week and (c) Kane?

Bearing in mind there are only 7 gw's left.

This is my thinking Az. I don't see it as defending rank at all, I see it as an opportunity. It may go horribly wrong, but I don't think there is as much between them as picks this week.

Fair play to OR 102, I managed to finish 200th one season so can understand your thinking about taking a chance but personally I’d just go for whoever I think will score the most points that week and forget your rank.

Very very tricky... I can see the appeal of going against the crowd to jump up. The risk here is if you get it horribly wrong you have probably just killed your rank and any chances. I'm all for going against the crowd to make the gains in this case but I just dont think i would here because Son doesnt fill me with enough confidence. I think youd be better off making this play in a week where the alternate captain choice is a Salah or Bruno when everyone going for Kane for example. Son just doesn't feel like a solid cap choice. He will most likely play both but should surely have minutes managed against Sou, possibly rested altogether since he's recently back from injury?

I'd probably rather keep with the pack here and go for some differential choices in cap choices in the coming weeks where the risk isnt so high, get some differential players in? Either way good luck mate smashing rank!

Generally I've been pretty solid for (c) picks, but last time I went against a massive eo, Gundo had his 19 point haul, so there is a bit of scar tissue there and am wary. Cheers.

72% of the top 10k have already played their TC. Therefore if you play it this weekend on Kane, you will score one third more than they...............its a simple decision and dont overthink it.

    Morning ladies and gents,
46 point lead in my mini league, my only genuine rival has the exact same team as me except he has Rashford to my Gundo and Dawson to my TAA. (Yes I've been blocking his players a week at a time to protect my lead.)

Question is do I take a hit to get rid of Gundo?
I have 8.3m to spend which can buy me a brand new Pulisic or a Mount (playing 90 midweek puts me off) or it gets me a Greenwood or Pogba.

Rest of my team is as follows:

    Meslier - Martinez
    Shaw - TAA - Dias - Stones - Dallas
    Bruno - Jota - Son - JLingz - Gundog
Kane - Ihenacho - Bam Bam

I'd appreciate any thoughts at all.

I'd be more concerned by double city defence. You have Bamford for attacking cover if gundo is benched but you are down to bones in defence if dias / stones rested again which is fairly likely. Shaw could also come in for a rest depending on Europa results. I'd personally play for points and not focus on your rival so much if you're ahead. Gundo / Stones out would be a good idea. Pulisic a good punt but mount better nailed (again though rotation risk with chelsea in CL).

      OR

drop bamford and create funds to go gundo to Salah. Salah is going to be pretty damn near essential for the rest of the season now theyre out of all other comps and need to get into top 4, look at those fixtures.

      1. buzzkill
        • 8 Years

I'm binning one of Stones or Dias before their blank next week, probably Stones like you suggested as he seems to get rotated more. Chelsea midfield is a bit of a minefield, returns seems to be so spread out and it's well within the realm of possibilities that Mount has had his flurry and goes back to blanking as he does.

I hadn't considered Maddison, back in the line-up you would assume and a point to prove after being dressed down by Rodgers?

Like the idea of Salah, however Gundo and Bamford out gives me 2.3 to spend of a forward so it would be 3 transfers (and -12) so would have to be done on a WC which I still have in my pocket. Bin City and go for the top 4 and relegation battlers?

I definitely like maddison, he's nailed and believe he will have huge motivation for getting to Euro's so that's a good move. Unfortunately if you're needing a -12 for Salah then thats not a good idea. But I would just add, if you have a WC (your team is good right now though) then keep in mind you should get Salah in soon. Leeds away is a super tasty fixture... but he also got run ragged against Madrid so may actually be in for a rest.

I mean, thinking again I dont think a WC is out of the picture for you. You have a really good template bar city, but you do have 3x city, plus 2x spurs, so 33 will cause you bother. It would also allow you to drop meslier for 4m and get more cash in the bank to play with. Could even punt on reguillon for 1 week for the double.

Why is Leeds away a super tasty fixture?

Joint fewest goals conceded in last 6 home fixtures and right up there on XGC too. Ignore home and away and just look at fixtures since GW20 and they are upper mid table for defence - ahead of Liverpool!

Thanks Motty, really do appreciate your help here. I dropped from 65k to 80k this week so I'm keen to claw some ranking back. Maddison really does tempt me and you make a great point about the Euros. His fixtures look great for the next 4 weeks and pre-injury his returns we very good.

By next week I will be rid of Gundo and Stone so I will only be 1x City and 2xSpurs, same as most other people so I *could* scrape through with 11 albeit not at full strength to your point about WC'ing then has certainly got me thinking. If I build a team around Salah and, ditch Meslier like you say and lose Bamford then I should be set for the run in.

Sorry, I misread your comment, thought you had 8.3m in the bank!

Salah is out of reach and I wouldn’t take a lot of hits to squeeze him in. Gündoğan to one of Pulisic or Greenwood would be my move; both looking very sharp.

No it's my fault, I worded it badly. Selling Gundogan gives me 8.3m to buy a new player. As it stands I have 2.6m in the bank.
What about Maddison? Point to prove after missing last week through his own antics?

Leicester’s fixtures are great, and for sure he has a point to prove to both Southgate and Rodgers.

That said, I am not sure he hits the ground running after his layoff and Baggies are no mugs at the moment, hence my preference for the other two. Don’t get me wrong, I think Maddison is a good pick and he should be nailed, just I prefer the other two options.

I have Bale and Kane for the double, had other issues to sort hence still having bale.

What has happened to Bales playing time? Is not likely to ply the double? Is it worth bringing in son for a -4?

A double for Bale may as well be a single and a dodgy single at that. Buying Bale instead of Rashford was a massive mistake for me this season. Can't say I enjoyed all those 0s and 1s.

Bale will probably score less than a sgw player, get rid

Seem crazy before a double, and sideways switching to son though right? Not worth keeping for a week?

He won't play against Everton so really he's just a single gw player. He might get a start against Sou but might also not. Son is nailed for both, maybe reduced minutes against Sou. So think of a bale switch as a sgw player for a dgw, it'll cost -2.

Put it another way, bales EO will be like 2%, Son's will be 75%. If you stick with bale and he blanks and son bangs in a big double gw score, you'll be left way behind. If you take a -4 for son, it's worst a -2, and honestly does anyone really think bales going to do anything the way he's been treated recently? Coming on for 2mins against newcastle, almost embarassing. Mourinho brought SISSOKO on 20minutes before bale when they were losing to Utd, I think that says it all. (I'd just do it)

    Neto's replacement: budget £5.9

Man City - Gundogan - 5.9 (not on predicted line up this week)
    Southampton - Ward-Prowse 5.9
    West Ham - Soucek 5.3
    Leeds - Harrison - 5.4
    West Ham - Bowen - 5.9
    West Brom - Pereira - 5.4
    Leeds - Raphinha - 5.6
    Brighton - Trossard - 5.7

    any advice?

I was also looking for NETO's replacement - looked at both and Bowen 28 points last 4 weeks, consistant, where as pereira has 35 points in 4 weeks, 21 of those agaisnt chelsea as a one off, may go for consistancy.

Bowen as the next easy game vs newcastle, as pereira has a difficult one against Leicester

    Morning Everyone

I have already made a transfer from my stupid one week punt from Sterling > Son

My concern with my below team is if Dias and Rudiger don't play I don't have enough on the bench as I have the injured Neto.

    -----------------------------------------------
    Mendy

    Dias | Shaw | TAA | Rudiger

    Son | Jota | Salah | Lingard

    Iheanacho | Kane

    Forster | Holding | Vydra | Neto
    -----------------------------------------------

    Do you think I should:

A: Take a -4 or -8 to replace Dias or Rudiger and Neto
B: Take a -4 to replace Neto to perhaps Maddison or someone else?
C : Leave team as it is and replace next week?

Just worried I don't have a strong enough bench.

    Really would appreciate your comments.

    Many thanks

Why do you think Rudiger won’t play? Just a guess based on starting the last 3 or anything more concrete?

Definitely concerning however I'd probably leave as in, Holding and Vydra good replacements. You'd have to get really unlucky with Dias, rudi and Shaw being rested (which is possible), but I'd probably back that you'd get at least 1 of those starting and couldnt possibly be that unlucky.

You’d be unlucky if neither Rudiger nor Dias feature. So I’d hold off on taking a hit for a defender. I’d hold for a week, then replace Neto for GW33.

Digne, Gundo > Reguilon, Bowen (-4), yes or no? With Reg having a double its probably like -2.

Antonio and Rice out means soucek has been doing more defensive work, I think theres better budget options right now, he could be an 8th bench attacker but wasting a 5th midfield slot right now doesnt seem the way to go
