Man Utd set for Triple Gameweek 35 as clash with Liverpool is rearranged

Manchester United will have a Triple Gameweek 35 after the Premier League announced that their postponed clash with Liverpool will take place next Thursday.

The Red Devils will also face Aston Villa and Leicester City in the next set of fixtures, with all three of their Gameweek 35 matches taking place in little more than 100 hours.

Jurgen Klopp’s troops will also have a Double Gameweek as a result of today’s announcement.

The soon-to-be-deposed reigning champions will take on Southampton on Saturday before they visit Old Trafford.

United will still blank in Gameweek 36 as a result, while Liverpool will be at home to Championship-bound West Bromwich Albion.

REVISED GAMEWEEK 35 SCHEDULE

MANCHESTER UNITED

Sun 9 May: Aston Villa (A)
Tue 11 May: Leicester City (H)
Thu 13 May: Liverpool (H)

LIVERPOOL

Sat 8 May: Southampton (H)
Thu 13 May: Manchester United (A)

REVISED GAMEWEEK 35 FIXTURE MATRIX

*Thanks to moderator Legomane

WHICH UNITED AND LIVERPOOL ASSETS STAND THE BEST CHANCE OF STARTING ALL OF THEIR GAMEWEEK 35 MATCHES?

Earlier in the week, we had a two-part look at which Double Gameweek 35 players stood the best chance of avoiding a benching in the upcoming set of fixtures.

The article linked below has been revised after today’s announcement and now includes Liverpool, along with an amended entry for Manchester United.

CHANGE OF CHIP STRATEGY/TRANSFER FOCUS?

Liverpool's front four toil at Anfield as Newcastle assets creep onto FPL radar

Today’s announcement was seismic but it doesn’t change some things.

Manchester United, for example, will still blank in Gameweek 36, so the situation remains that any Fantasy managers going all-in on the Red Devils in Triple Gameweek 35 will have to either have a strong bench, an exit plan (possibly involving hits) or an unused chip up their sleeves.

Those on a Free Hit, of course, will have no such worries.

What it does perhaps alter is a greater chance of two or more starts for most of their key players in the upcoming Gameweek, even allowing for a benching along the way.

Liverpool players suddenly become even more attractive – although that was immediately the case as soon as Sunday’s match was postponed and it became clear that the game wouldn’t be rescheduled for Gameweek 34.

A double-header against Southampton and West Bromwich Albion, as had been mooted in some circles, would have been dreamland territory with regards to the Gameweek 35 captaincy and triple captaincy. The fact that United now play thrice, and one of Liverpool’s fixtures is at Old Trafford, may temper interest in Mohamed Salah (£12.7m) and co when it comes to the armband discussions.

But the Reds being one of just five teams who have two fixtures in Triple Gameweek 35 and an unaffected match in Blank Gameweek 36 is a boon for chipless FPL managers and Wildcarders alike who are investing in players for the entire run-in, not just a one-off Gameweek.

While the addition of Liverpool to the Double Gameweek 35 contingent does give chipless managers a greater chance of getting more players out with two games, those FPL bosses with Free Hits and Wildcards in hand still have the advantage of focusing mostly on the next seven days without being too concerned about the decimated schedule in Blank Gameweek 36.

IMPLICATIONS FOR OTHER TEAMS

The best Neto replacements and whether FPL managers should stick with Fernandes

Today’s shock announcement will not just affect Liverpool and United.

It could, first and foremost, also be good news for Leicester City assets.

The Foxes now have an extra day of recovery ahead of their FA Cup final appearance on Saturday 15 May, which could alleviate some of the rotation risk – if there ever was any – for that clash with United. The temptation for Brendan Rodgers to hand some of his key players a breather may partly depend on the results of the weekend fixtures, however, and where they leave his side in their ongoing push for a top-four place.

The game against the Red Devils is also the second of United’s three fixtures (or four, if we include tomorrow’s UEFA Europa League tie against Roma). Would Ole Gunnar Solksjaer perhaps rotate against the Foxes with one eye on Thursday’s clash with Liverpool, then?

Aston Villa, United’s first Triple Gameweek 36 opponents, will also be hoping for similar favours from Solskjaer on Sunday.

    Vardy, Nacho, DCL

I'd quite like Watkins in there.
Looks good though, not tempted by Henderson/AWB for a more likely triple

Good team but i would drop Digne for Castagne. Or Robertson and put Guaita in goal.

So I'm one of those already loaded up with 6 Pool and Utd players and no FH or wildcard left and having reflected on this fixture update, I feel that this is a worse situation than Utd keeping the original double as it was and not blanking in 36 as was the anticipated scenario.

The reason is because a triple gameweek isn't really a triple as nobody possibly barring Maguire will play all 3 games so realistically it's still only a double but in addition there is now the issue of my 3 Utd Utd players blanking in 36 which will leave me short of players as I also have Chelsea, Leicester and Arsenal players.

What are other people's thoughts who are in the same boat?

    Best move here

A Alonso to Maguire and play this team with 10 triple/double players

B Alonso to Maguire and Leno to Meslier -4 ( tactical hit as at present only 8 players in 36 so less hits next week to get 10/11). Plan in 36 at moment is Iheanacho Bruno to Aguero and 7 m mid

    Forster
    TAA Maguire Fofana Digne
    Salah Bruno (c) Greenwood Jota
    Kane Iheanacho

    Leno Lingard Holding Vydra

    Bottommed

With all this carnage my GW36 is looking Very poor and many hits are needed. Although Forster might play if the Ralph rumours are true 2 games each with McCarthy.

    2FT

    Mendy(forster)
    Rudiger, Shaw, TAA (Holding Fofana)
    Salah,Son, Jota, Bruno, Lingard
    Nacho, Kane, (Vydra)

    A. Son to Greenwood
    B Vydra to DCL
    C. Jota to Zaha.
    D. Son to Zaha

2FT can you help me chose 2 out of 4????

My pub league friend just took a 32 point hit when he meant to play the free hit but he didn’t press the free hit button. I’m sure if he makes another transfer and then plays the free hit it will wipe off the 32 point hit. Am I right before I get the blame for him taking ANOTHER hit?

    Guaita – (Forster)
    TAA – Castagne – Shaw – (Mitchell – Holding)
    Salah – Bruno – Greenwood – Mane – (ESM)

        United defender(s)
        Salah
        Bruno

Don't know, but that uncertainty also applies for Shaw, Greenwood, Rashford, Cavani. Then aganin, igf you already have a playing DGW keeper, it's a moot point whether it's worth spending a transfer

I've got 11 DGW players and 4 single (Son / Coufal / Lloris / Sanchez) and 2 FTs.

As well as problem child Mitchell (last fixture gives hope...)

    Bench boosting Would you:
    a) Son to Greenwood and free up some cash
    b) upgrade Sanchez to a DGW keeper
    c) Upgrade Mitchell for more reliable starter
    b) save transfer (Only have 7 atm for GW 36)

I have Fernandes and that will do I think. I can’t see any of the Utd players playing 3 games except maybe Maguire who i don’t want, I have other doublers who will most likely play twice and I don’t want to increase the amount of Blankers I have next week. For the first time I am not going to be infected with DGW (or even TGW) fever!

I think Forster has both this GW, then McCarthy 36 and they’ll share GWs 37/38.

Forster for the DGW, McCarthy for Fulham and then it's in the lap of the gods

Haven't tried that, good problem to have. I guess which team (35 or 36) resemble well with 37 and 38, that's where the WC goes.

Got bench boost as well lol

Probably pointless but would be an interesting experiment to see how close you can get to May’s manager of the month

Is Bruno (c) this week worth the -8 I’d need to field XI next week? Or just stick with Son??

      Yeh it’s an issue!

I’m just resigned to prob taking a -4 and fielding 8-9

Same although reckon could get away with -4 to field 11

I wouldn't worry too much about 36 in isolation.

I want to try and hit 160 points across next 2. I can easily get 13-14 DGWs and then a rubbish 6 or 7 or a bit more cautious 12-13 and get 9-10.

View them together and decide what you're happy on.

    Hi Guys
Please can I have views on the below - 15 point lead in my ML - going to play BB (final chip).

    Mendy, Martinez
    Shaw, Coleman, Digne, Dallas, Phillips
    Bruno, Salah, Mount, Jota, Lingard
    DCL, Bamford, Nacho

    a) G2G and save FT for week 36
    b) Mount to Greenwood
    c) Lingard to Greenwood (will need to take -4 in week 36 to get 11 out)
    d) Coleman to Maguire (will need to take -4 in week 36 to get 11 out)
    e) Dallas to Maguire (will need to take -4 in week 36 to get 11 out)

Thanks in advance - hopefully final big decision of the season !

I could do Lingard and Mount for Greenwood and Zaha for -4 - but i thought Zaha was doubtful to play

Brainless forward play. Honestly Jozy Altidore is better than him.
