Jota, Williams and Phillips start as Liverpool host Saints side with Forster in goal

Liverpool are forced into a second-string defence as they host Southampton in Triple Gameweek 35.

Ozan Kabak (£5.0m) and Ben Davies (£4.7m) both miss the Saturday-evening encounter which makes for a centre-back pairing of Nathaniel Phillips (£4.1m) and Rhys Williams (£4.0m).

Andrew Robertson (£7.1m) and Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.6m) retain their starting berths, meanwhile.

Roberto Firmino (£9.0m) finds himself on the bench tonight which allows Diogo Jota (£7.0m) to start up-front, flanked by Mohamed Salah (£12.7m) and Sadio Mané (£11.7m)

James Milner (£5.3m) and Naby Keita (£5.2m) are also absent which means Thiago Alcantara (£5.5m), Georginio Wijnaldum (£5.3m) and Fabinho (£5.4m) form the central-midfield trio.

Southampton come to Anfield in their usual 4-2-2-2 shape although most of the Fantasy Premier League attention is on their goalkeeper position, tonight occupied by Fraser Forster (£4.0m).

It is his first start since Gameweek 31, ending a run of two successive starts for Alex McCarthy (£4.4m).

Triple Gameweek 35 Line-ups

Liverpool XI (4-3-3): Alisson; Robertson, R Williams, N Phillips, Alexander-Arnold; Thiago, Wijnaldum, Fabinho; Mané, Jota, Salah.

Southampton XI (4-4-2): Forster; J Stephens, Vestergaard, Bednarek, Walker-Peters; Tella, Armstrong, Ward-Prowse, Redmond; Adams, Walcott.

Triple Gameweek 35 so far…

Edouard Mendy (£5.2m) was the latest Triple Gameweek 35 option to punish his Free Hit sellers on Saturday.

He was the beneficiary of a woeful Sergio Aguero (£10.3m) penalty as Manchester City hosted Chelsea.

The centre-forward did manage to get an assist for Raheem Sterling‘s (£11.0m) first-half goal but is struggling to convince many of his worth between now and his Gameweek 38 bow.

Hakim Ziyech (£7.9m) netted the equaliser for Chelsea, allowing César Azpilicueta (£5.9m) to extend his lead among his colleagues for points since Thomas Tuchel took over (79 pre-bonus).

Marcos Alonso (£5.7m) finally delivered on his admittedly dwindling Fantasy appeal in the dying stages.

Making just his second start since Gameweek 32, the left wing-back netted his second goal of the season.

      Exactly! Much better than it looks. His body shape indicated he could've sprung to the right if needed, but just caught himself when he saw Kun shape up for the panenka

    Crazy game that was.

    Shame it was decided by the ref, offsides and panenka poop. Both teams looked fatigued, but it was what you want to see, gung ho football.

      Alonso is my version of this except I wouldn’t have started him.
      But the wildcard defense of Alonso & Fofana has been disastrous. Should not have sold Shaw and Dallas.

      Yea... Alonso gets 1pt in easy fixture and starts and scores vs MCI. Short term, (like 38 gw:s) this game is pure luck.

        So true.

        Really salient point. Luck will even out on average over the season and to some degree you can 'make your own luck' but consistent good decision making will get you near the top when the curtain comes down.

        That's why I try to take these things in my stride as selling Alonso was the right move and I would have backed City to score, which they did. The pen save and last minute goal (not to mention the Alonso appearance in general) is more luck than management skill

    Evening all!!! Any Chelsea folk around?? Will that win now have any effect on If Azpilacueta starts midweek now?? I was quietly confident that If the match was a draw he would start with being captain and Top 4 not a certainty, just wondering if that goal changes anything!! Any thoughts appreciated!!! Cheers!!

      Yeah I suspect he will be benched, but he is the captain and plays as much as he can.

      Silva will be back and Rudiger looked spent at the end there (he'll definitely be benched now). Expect to see Hudson Odoi to come in at RWB and one of the other defenders to cover at RCB.

        Yeah that’s the thing with him being captain, but with Thiago back it’s like a captain with him too, so maybe no need for Azpila too!! I agree CHO could come in wing back!! We shalll see about Azpila!! Hope he starts!! 50/50 atm I would guess!!

    This win by chelsea will give them the confidence to beat city in cl final. Chelsea have done it before in 2012 when they won cl against all odds. They could do it again.

    Sky making a big deal over this penalty not given but the reality is Sterling shouldn't have been on the pitch for his goal and then possible foul in the box. Agree it was a penalty but imo the Gilmour one wasn't.
