Fixtures

When are the FPL Blank and Double Gameweeks in 2021/22?

With the 2021/22 Premier League fixtures released, Fantasy managers can already start thinking about chip strategy and the Blank and Double Gameweeks.

International breaks are often key moments for those considering their first Wildcard of the campaign and, thanks to the fixture release, we now know where they will fall in the FPL schedule.

  • First international break: Between Gameweeks 3 and 4
  • Second international break: Between Gameweeks 7 and 8
  • Third international break: Between Gameweeks 11 and 12
  • Fourth international break: Between Gameweeks 30 and 31

Chelsea are expected to be at the heart of this season’s Blank Gameweeks after their Champions League title qualified them for the 2021/22 Club World Cup.

Thomas Tuchel’s men will enter the competition at the semi-final stages, although there is no fixed date for that round, other than the month of December, where Chelsea have the following schedule.

  • Gameweek 16: Chelsea v Leeds
  • Gameweek 17: Chelsea v Everton
  • Gameweek 18: Wolves v Chelsea
  • Gameweek 19: Aston Villa v Chelsea
  • Gameweek 20: Chelsea v Brighton

If Chelsea make it to the final, they are likely to miss two of these matches.

Meanwhile, the FA Cup will start impacting FPL in Gameweek 30 when it reaches the quarter-final stages, which is almost certainly going to create a Blank Gameweek.

And the semi-finals of the FA Cup occur in Gameweek 33, which could also cause a slightly smaller Blank Gameweek.

As for the corresponding Double Gameweeks, the Champions League and Europa League schedule means that there are clear midweeks to accommodate extra fixtures in Gameweeks 33 and 36.

If anyone's already questioning DGWs for next season I'd have to question their mental health.

I truly admire the dedication to the off-season but there is NO WAY I can start thinking about the FPL season before the Euros are over...

I read someone saying zinchenko might play up front, where did this come from?

I googled ukraine team news and found this on the independent:

Oleksandr Zubkov came off early in Ukraine’s defeat to Netherlands and he’s unlikely to recover in time to feature here. The big question for Andriy Shevchenko will be whether to push forward Oleksandr Zinchenko into the forward line or to start Marlos, after his ineffective showing last time out led to the sub being subbed off.

Had Berardi as my day one captain 'GW'1 and twisted, ending up with Jota.

Learn my lesson and take the 12 pts or twist e.g. Lukaku (Day2), Mbappe (Day4)

Twist. If you had Lukaku or Ronaldo your Berardi twist would have paid off easily.

Keep Italy spots open for now and decide once lineups are out, tough to predict what they will field and who will get rotated.

Excellent player, though goals are not frequent. At his price he's a good enabler but also bear in mind Mancini may rotate for the next game.

I got him in on a different platform that gives points for team goals etc expecting to ride a cheapie, worked out well.

but the fact is that yesterdays goal tallie is 50% of all his international goals. There are better options both in attack and defense on the team I think.

Solid he has weak opposition. I wouldn't mind Lukaku neither, I see it a bit harder for Wijnaldum.

Was between yaremchuck and giny or depay and yarmo.

Makes sense to captain him if I went with his option

ok However please note that I dont own neither Yaremchuk Zinch and Lukaku. I have Yarmolenko captain and I prefer that choice over any for today, maybe Zinchenko after seeing line up. But it's just my opinion.

There was a reason that they were highly picked defensively going into the tournament. I think they'll come out and play inspired, don't think they'll win with some of Belgiums players returning but can't imagine they'll turn up and not put up a fair fight, especially after what transpired in the last game

I know it's early and MD2 finish will give us more clues about who might be rested but I need to do my MD3 WC today... any thoughts on this first draft please?

          Meunier Gosens Denayer PTorres Blind
Gnabry Perisic (3) Wijnaldum Grealish Shaqiri (1)

I disagree. Your MD1 teams are almost all a disaster for MD3 either because you picked duds like Denayer or because you put your faith in the wrong teams like Turkey.

Same dilemma - I'm going Depay I think - he looked really up for it last game but couldn't score so I think he'll be trying even harder to make amends - but Yarmo has the easier opposition so who knows?
