Allsvenskan Fantasy

Welcome back to Allsvenskan Fantasy – GW9 Scout Picks

And just like that, Allsvenskan is back! While the summer break has been nice, it’s lovely to get back into Swedish football once more and try to forget about that horrendous crash out of the Euros…

The return of Allsvenskan doesn’t come without a few new challenges and opportunities, and here is a taste of some interesting new developments:

  • Göteborg, Hammarby and Häcken all have new head coaches. What this means for their fantasy prospects remain to be seen but in particular Häcken attacking assets could come into our thinking quite soon, while Hammarby has a nice schedule coming up.
  • The summer transfer circus is starting to kick off with some players already having left (Haksabanovic, Okumo, Mörfelt, Mukibi, and Lahne to name a few), some rumoured to be leaving if the right bid comes in (Witry, Amoo, Otieno etc.) and some interesting new signings having already been made (Paulsen, Abubakari, Moisander, Berg, Wendt). I’m assuming there are quite a few names left out here and if you have some rumours or confirmed news please share them in the comments!
  • Djurgården goalkeeping situation is turning into a yearly saga, this time around it’s Vasyutin (5.9m) who is looking to miss most of the season out with injury which could prove a big boost for either Vaiho (5.9m) or Zetterström (4.5m). The latter started in Gameweek 8 and if we can get confirmation that he’s the current first choice he could be an absolute bargain! Zetterström started both friendlies in the summer break as well but tread carefully until confirmed.
  • Fans are being let back into the stands gradually and this is likely going to be a huge boost to the Stockholm clubs (AIK, Djurgården, Hammarby), IFK Göteborg and Malmö FF! Equally, the clubs with less supporters might lose a bit of an edge they’ve been having but regardless of how it pans out, I expect the players of all teams to be very excited by this development, as am I.

In short though, they are:

David Ousted (5.4m)

Aslak Fonn Witry (8.5m), Hjalmar Ekdal (5.8m), Joel Nilsson (5.6m)

Magnus Eriksson (8.8m), Gustav Ludwigson (9.6m), Akinkunmi Amoo (7.4m), Adi Nalic (6.9m)

Nicolás Stefanelli (7.7m), Jacob Bergström (6.4m), Victor Edvardsen (6.5m)

The Captain Pick this week is our old favourite, Aslak Fonn Witry.

Good luck with the restart, let’s dive in!

As always, I’m @FF_Meltens on Twitter if you haven’t seen me around these parts before…

Oh I'm coming for you, you better watch out 😉
Feeling uncharacteristically confident in a squad that have on paper some issues and bad fixtures this week, even leaning towards saving the transfer while WC's are flying left right and center. Feels nice!

Cheers mate, didn't even realise a lot of this had happened in the break so feels good to be back in the loop. Absolutely no idea what to do for GW9, so will likely roll the FT or do a little hokey-cokey with AC (who's on Denmark international duty). Hopefully I'm still 2nd come the end of GW9 and can then push on with some more recent highlights to get stuck in to.

    Good luck all!

Thanks for keeping up the great content. Have brought in Magnus Eriksson for Berget this week. Hoping he continues his pre break form. Good luck to all.

Wildcarded before the break. I set the team the day before deadline, but forgot to log in and ended up sticking with Selmani in my team.

    WC:

    Zetterstrøm
    Larsson Witry (K) Johansson Otieno
    Eriksson Nalic Matthews
    Stefanelli Selmani Colak

    Bench: Papagiannopoulos, Carlen, Mårtensson

Papa in the XI usually over Matthews. Nice bonus with the Matthes goal this GW.

Started at OR27, now at OR37 with Witry (K), Eriksson, Zetterstrøm, Johansson and Larsson to go. Framåt next GW!

Can I echo the appreciation! As an Englishman entering this for the second time, i have relied fully on your recommendations and feel very fortunate to be in the top 2k as a result of your tips. Hoping I can stay up there - but may struggle over a full season!

        Hi Petter

Have you come across any word on the injury to Johan Larsson of Elfsborg? Thinking of punting on my PTB Chip this week. If Larsson is out for this gameweek was thinking of replacing him with Otieno of AIK. The other four defs are Witry, Strand, Knudsen and Ahmedhodzic, surely Malmo have got to get a clean sheet soon!

          Hi Johnny!
Johan Larsson is expected to start.
I don’t like Malmö defence this year and Sirius are a bit tricky to keep out, personally I would maybe look to hold off but I can definitely see the appeal 🙂

I have no idea how Malmö approaches this game with the CL qualifiers lodged in to the schedule as well, should win but can we say with 100% certainty Ahmedhodzic starts? These would be my concerns but on paper the fixtures are ripe for a PTB so don’t let me sway you either way.

Thanks Petter, I had a job on today so couldn't react in time so no Chip played.

As long as I stay one point ahead of you I'll be very happy!

That Malmo clean sheet was coming.

            Good luck buddy - Johnny

There will be more opportunities down the road, perhaps with attacking monster def Björn Paulsen included 😉

Thanks for the heads up, I see he joins Hammarby this week, he's a big lad and that Hammarby defence could do with some help shutting the back door. Do you think he's straight in the starting XI?

I reckon so unless there's some fitness issue I'm not aware of or the coach wants to ease him in. He's not recruited to sit on the bench but might see him deployed wherever he's most needed, CB, RB, DM etc.

Always a danger on set pieces and likes to take part in all attacks, much like Witry but with less crossing and more direct. Used to play second striker when chasing a couple years back.

                    Hi Petter

Time to see if I can put a bit of daylight between us. This week I've made three transfers - all defenders - for a -4 hit and playing PTB on Witry, Kack, Strand, Otieno and Jeahze!

Ouch, best of luck - looks a great week to do it and I can see a bit of a gap opening up!

In the short term ofc 😉

Cheers, feel like I need a bit of a psychological and points boost, it's weird, I've only had one red arrow all season, have averaged 60.2 pts per week but I'm only sitting just inside 4K OR. Current number one OR has averaged 72.2 pts per week though has played a WC and two Chips. Onwards and upwards!

Hi Petter, got to be happy with PTB last week, 89 (-4) pts and a decent jump up the rankings to just outside 2K. Taking another -4 this week as I have a couple of YC bans and a couple of terrible players. Taking two of your recommendations from this week, Eriksson (K) and Kouakou (V). Good luck, just 31 pts to catch up.

Very nice score! Eriksson should be a keeper for the rest of the season by the looks of it.

Kouakou I’m still waiting on some kind of a confirmation, hearing he had to step off from the training yesterday and is a late fitness test. Will try to update you lot if I get some news there, otherwise just start and hope!
