Fantasy5

Back your Fantasy nous for the chance to win £10k with free-to-play game

Sponsored by Fantasy5

There are a lot of Fantasy games out there at present but how many will let you enter a team for free and still offer a substantial weekly cash prize?

Fantasy5 does just that.

The easy-to-play Fantasy game uses a familiar, FPL-style scoring system and comes with the incentive of a whopping £10,000 prize every week.

Best of all, it won’t cost you a penny to get involved.

Image

Gameweek 1 is now live, so you can start picking your selections for the five matches involved: Chelsea v Crystal Palace, Leicester City v Wolverhampton Wanderers, Norwich City v Liverpool, Newcastle United v West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur v Manchester City.

PRIZES

Image

As well as the £10k weekly prize, there are other incentives.

Fantasy5 will run a leaderboard over the course of 2021/22, with Champions League final tickets, £250 and a replica kit all up for grabs for the podium finishers.

Image

Premier League match tickets are the reward for the leading manager in August, with a replica kit also on offer in Gameweek 1.

HOW TO PLAY

The rules are simple: enter a team by picking one player from each of the five nominated fixtures each Gameweek and, if they all exceed their ‘points target’ for that match, you’ll be taking home all – or at the very least a share – of the money.

There is no budget in Fantasy5 – if you wanted a team packed full of the big names, then you’re free to do so.

Naturally, the so-called “better” players will have a higher points target and Fantasy5‘s projections are a good indicator as to who is expected to perform well on any given matchday.

For example, on the opening weekend, Mohamed Salah will have to score in excess of 12.5 points in Liverpool’s clash with Norwich if the Egyptian is to help you on the way to the jackpot.

By contrast, the Canaries’ Lukas Rupp only has a points target of 4.5 to better.

Back your Fantasy know-how for the chance to win £10k with free-to-play game 4

Fantasy5 are the fastest media outlet for live Fantasy points, displaying all player points from the five games in question as well as the live score and time – as shown in the above image.

The competition is limited to one entry per person per round and selections must be submitted before kick-off of the first eligible match.

If two or more entrants correctly select five players who all score more than their points target, then the prize pot is split among all winners.

SCORING SYSTEM

If you know anything about Fantasy Premier League, the Fantasy5 scoring system is easy.

If you have to choose a defense with TAA + 4 defenders at 4.5, what will it be?

Actually on TAA Chambers Veltman Ayling Fofana

Chambers could easily find himself on the bench. Veltman feels a bit risky (unless Lamptey out for a while). Fofana is a risk according to many on here (I don't think he is).

      I'd be wanting 3 nailed 4.5s personally.

What is the league code to join the head-to-head-leagues here for the season that start next week?

  4. Is Jota worth the risk?
    Rasping Drive

Is Diogo Jota worth the risk?

Using last season as a guide we can see that:
Jota was available for selection for 19 gameweeks over the whole season.
    Starts: 12 (63% of total)
    Featured as sub: 7 (37%)

Of the 19 games for which Jota was available, 16 were ones where all of Salah, Mane and Firmino were also available to play. Jota started 8 (50%) of these, came on as sub in 7 (45%) and wasn’t in the squad for 1 of them (5%).
Jota’s other 4 starts came in matches when one of Salah, Mane or Firmino were not available due to Covid or injury. In other words, he started 100% of such games.

Goal Involvement (both when he started and when he came on as sub):
Total Liverpool goals when Jota on pitch: 24
Jota goals: 9 (38% of total). 5 (56%) of Jota’s goals were in matches where he started, 4 (44%) when he came on as sub.
It is noteworthy that when Jota started, he stayed on the pitch for an average of 83 mins. When he came on as sub, he averaged only 17 mins, but still managed to score almost half his goals during that time.

So what does all of this mean?
All of Salah, Mane, and Jota should be available for the start of the season. As regards Firmino - he did feature in the Copa de America, so there is a chance he may sit out one or two PL games, meaning Jota would be locked in to play; however, Firmino also featured in Copa de America in 2019 (Brazil ran out winners) and still started all the opening fixtures of the following PL campaign. History doesn’t favour a Firmino rest in that case.

Perhaps the most telling stat is that Jota only started in 50% of PL games for which all of Salah, Mane and Firmino were also available. And perhaps contrary to popular opinion, Klopp only accommodated all 4 on 3 occasions, playing mainly 4-2-3-1 (SHU, mci and NEW) instead of 4-3-3.

Jota was more of a regular in the CL, starting 6 out of the 9 matches for which he was available and coming on as sub in the other 3. The CL starts becoming an issue from GW4 right up to GW16, and if Klopp follows a similar approach this year, we could see him benched in more PL games than we would like.

    Conclusion
For the risk-averse managers (and even some of the mavericks), Jota perhaps poses too much of a risk, especially at the start of the season when he takes up a valuable Liverpool spot and we want to maximise the minutes of our starting XIs.

However, when he does feature (either starting or as an impact sub), his points record is very good. When he was available for selection in the first half of the season (GW3-GW11), he averaged 5.2 pts/appearance – only Grealish and Zaha bettered this for players around the same price tag during that period. And with Jota reportedly wowing the Liverpool coaching staff with his “frightening” ability in pre-season training, he remains a decent option imho.

So are you feeling lucky, Punk?

For games against Norwich and Burnley, I don't think there's a risk with a bigger upside for GW1-2 (except maaybe Greenwood, but I'd back Liverpool to score more GW1).

Yes, agreed with your view that there's not a risk with a better upside. I guess if you're going to take that risk with Jota, it's important to sit tight through the games he will invariably be benched in. At least he always comes on even if he doesn't start, and then he can still cause havoc.

Experienced Jota owner here from his Wolves days

He is really streaky. You pick him when he shoots on target and avoid otherwise. Haven't checked the stats but I'm pretty sure he had bucketloads of chances when he came in late season and he missed the lot bar one after his brace.

      He can do that.

The risk is in not just in minutes but getting him on form. If he's on form then even with poor minutes he's a winner,.

I guess that issue would be that Kane provided a lot of top quality service for Son since theyve played together - Perhaps Nuno can turn Allis form around. Haven't seen enough from Gil to know what he's capable of.

Given his record since 2014, 3 years left on his contract and Grealish (presumably) moving for 100m, you'd have to think Levy will look for closer to 200.

No-one would pay that. If they had a gentleman’s agreement which said he could leave after one more season, that should be honoured. Kane has done enough for Spurs.

He might have a gentleman's agreement that he'll be allowed to leave if the right bid arrives but I think ~100m will fall short of Levy's valuation.

Levy has always been known to be a very shrewd negotiator so I get it, but as much as I dislike Kane (but admire his ability on the pitch), I don't disbelieve that he told Levy he wanted to leave over a year ago and that he gave him the benefit of the doubt for one more year, much like Hazard did at Chelsea. I can understand Levy holding out for more too with the price City are paying for Grealish, but realistically this dragging on won't help them. They won't want to go into the season with £150m~ in the bank on deadline day and having only Son to play up front. They also won't want to have an unhappy Kane that is past the point of being fed up sticking with a team that he won't win anything with and that might not turn up as often as he would before. Take the money for someone heading towards 30 soon and that is still injury prone, be happy Son signed a new long-term deal, and build the squad.

I wouldn't be surprised if City don't offer a couple of players in p/x, players that would massively enhance Spurs' squad - like Jesus, Laporte, Sterling. Problem would be convincing those players to step down, even with City paying half their inflated wages.

Especially after Laporte and Sterling played so well at the Euros neither will want to leave and will rightly expect they can stake a claim to get their spots back after both didn't play too often towards the end of last season. Jesus has been playing second fiddle even with Aguero out for prolonged periods with players like KDB, Foden and Sterling playing as a false nine instead of him and Pep saying Torres might do that too. A move to Spurs as the main striker alongside someone like Son could be great for him but yeah it's about whether he'd be willing to accept it. But it's clear whether Kane goes to City or not Jesus isn't going to be first choice up top

“There’s an international break in September, so I’m eyeing goals straight away, thinking that’s a good opportunity to get back in. The lads have just come off the back of the Euros and probably won’t be up to speed, so the manager might change things around. I’ve got to make sure my name is at the top of the list. Goals are the only thing that’s going to get me there, so it’s the thing I’m focusing on.”

Targett started every game last season but can def see Young coming in on occasion for one of Targett or Cash on occasion.

This is probably a fairly short term pick with the first three GWs in mind. Looks like it's between Targett's assist potential vs Konsa's goal threat.

        Hi folks!

Slow morning at work has resulted in me carrying-out a detailed analysis of most FPL players' previous season points vs this season's price to see what is the most value-friendly squad that can be built.

The analysis takes into account points/90mins and points/90mins/million £ (this season's price). Some very interesting findings in there.

Based on early fixtures and in an effort to allow for decent cover, since some players are prone to rotation by their managers, I have arrived to the below team:

        Meslier
        TAA - Chilwell - Stones/Cancelo (Veltman - 4.5)
        Salah/Bruno - Foden - Jota - Harrison (ESR)
        Cavani - Watkins - Iheanacho

I am not quite brave enough to go with this team and will likely go with the template, but it was interesting to see how much value there is in certain players. If any of you are brave enough to go with something similar - let me know! Would love to hear your thoughts.

I know that every season is different and the biases from the previous season should be disregarded. Greenwood is not near the top for value or pts/90. That is not me trying to dissuade you, just sharing my findings!

With Foden Jota Cavani I think you need more cover if you were to try and run with this team over a stretch.

Curious about how you got TAA in. Only 8 points ahead of Cresswell and 16 points ahead of AWB for instance but a full 2 million more - minutes similar . Can't believe that he was the value choice at all. Is he really there on value or as template cover?

            Hi Pingissimus,

You are correct on Trent. He ranks 6th on pts/90 and aaaaaaall the way down in 50th for pts/90/£. So, you are correct in saying that in terms of value - he is nowhere near the top. Kept him in simply because I am a Liverpool fan and he is my favourite player. Also, due to high-ownership and naildness.

In terms of pts/90 - TAA ranks 6th among defenders. Ahead of him are 2 City defenders and 3 Chelsea defenders. Given that I have included 1 from City and 1 from Chelsea in the team - TAA comes in based on diversity and tending to avoid double-ups on defence that early on in a season.

All in all - yeah, there was definite bias when it came to picking him, but somewhat backed up by the pts/90mins graph as well!

If you are after the true value 3rd pick - Coleman ranks 3rd in terms of pts/90/£ if you are brave enough! Stats with him can be a bit misleading though, due to limited playing time. The next best thing that is not a Chelsea or City mid and has had 2000+ minutes are Justin (who is injured), Veltman (who is in the team already) and Holding.

This is a very fun-looking team.

It looks really fun, doesn't it! I just can't bring myself to roll with it - too much risk for my liking

Just been reading that Newcastle fans groups are planning some sort of anti-PL protest before the West Ham game. I may avoid Wilson/Antonio in case that goes the way of Man Utd/Liverpool.

        Sanchez Steele
        Trent Shaw Digne White (Omabadelle)
        Salah Son(OR)Mahrez Buendia Raphinha (Gilmour)
        Werner Watkins (Obafemi)

        3.5m itb for possible upgrades
        Mahrez or Son??
        Thought…

100% taking Zaha in for GW2. I just cannot decide whether to have him also on GW1 vs CHE, or just use free transfer there and try to find one-match-man to deliver points.

Slight injury cloud over Zaha right now

He's said to have a slight hammy - missed the last preseason game a bit unexpectedly in any event
