Scoutcast: FPL ‘dreamers’ welcome Conte’s return to the top flight

Joe and Andy are joined by Kylie to help Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers prepare for Gameweek 11.

A key trend during this rotation hit FPL season has been the value of Southampton’s defender Tino Livramento (£4.4m), whose points have been arriving off the bench each week when needed.

With regular Scoutcaster Seb sidelined, the show has turned to its very own Livramento, Kylie from the 3Amigos podcast, to fill in.

She helps Joe and Andy through a packed show that takes in the arrival of former Chelsea and Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte at Tottenham, assesses the low and high owned underperformers and plays a game of ‘buy, hold, sell’.

“We as FPL managers are dreamers, we are all chasing that elusive 300-point scoring unicorn,” is one of Kylie’s lines that is likely to stick with many regular listeners and viewers for some time, particularly those investing in Spurs assets hoping that the former Italy manager can turn around the fortunes of Harry Kane (£12.1m) and Son Heung-min (£10.2m).

Can ‘the UniKane’ revive many FPL managers’ seasons too?

Elsewhere, new dad Andy drops out towards the end to tackle some family issues, leaving Joe and Kylie to manoeuvre their way through the show’s remaining regular features.

There are fixtures to frisk, captains and transfer plans to reveal and decisions to be made regarding the Scoutcast’s community team. This is being managed by the show on behalf of a top manager, who is taking a season-long break. Thankfully, it has achieved another green arrow following a well-timed Wildcard a few weeks back. Can this strong form continue?

The differentials section takes on an extra resonance this week, as FPL managers look for a way to climb their mini-leagues when almost all their rivals will be perma-captaining Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah (£12.9m) for the foreseeable future.

    3 Question to the most knowledgable guys in FFS
    1. Are Mbuemo & Hwang the best sub 6m players in Midfield and Attack?
    2. Tony, Raphina or another sub £7m player?
    3. Reguilon or a Brighton Player as my 4th Defender?

    (for context) My team is - Ramsdale & Foster. TAA, Chilwell, James, Reguilon & Livramento. Salah, Mane, Son, Mbuemo & Brownhill. Antonio, Tony & Hwang (0.4m in the bank)

    2 FT:

    A) Cancelo -> James/Chilwell
    B) Benrahma -> Gallagher/Mbeueno
    C) Antonio -> Toney
    D) Armstrong -> Borja

    All but A give fund for a straight swap for Havertz -> Son + rolling a FT next week, in A I have to use 2FT for that

      Son is going to be so good in that formation and I have to make fairly big sacrifices to get him. Might be worth it

        He may be if they find a midfield somewhere!

        The problems at Spurs weren't all Nuno induced. They might need a central defence as well.

        Good option as always but I'm sceptical that he'll be able to wave a magic wand as Tuchel did at Chelsea. Way different resources at his disposal.

          I cant argue with any of that but the fixtures make it so tempting to jump on that new manager bounce effect

          Agreed, CB is an issue but their midfield can't compete against most others in the PL in its current state

            I think thats the area where Conte wants to improve the most in the Jan window, looking at who they are linked with

              Yeah it makes sense, Inter probably are still willing to sell out of financial necessity so if he was able to bring someone like Barella in it would be excellent for them (although he was supposed to be very close to signing a new deal so maybe not)

    West Ham home record is quite interesting this season.

    The 4-1 against Leicester in August aside they have scored 5 goals in 4 matches and conceded 6 as well. Both very mid table stats.

    Slightly mixed fixtures on paper but both Spurs and United have been conceding goals for fun.

      1. pingissimus
        • 3 Years

        Yep

        Had a choice really between keeping Antonio or Vardy as intended longish hold and went with the cheaper option.

        Part of that equation is holding Ronaldo though which is obvs a big call that could easily backfire if he gets the random rotation against Watford!

        1. Holmes

          Have to go with Hwang irrespective of double up. Cant pick likes of King or Pukki just because you have Jimenez.

    2. pingissimus
      • 3 Years

      Hwang by a distance for me

      He doesn't seem to have any real contenders for his spot whereas Southampton could field any number of variations in attack which makes Borja very iffy should you want someone more or less nailed in that spot - something that is high priority for me.

      1. pingissimus
        • 3 Years

            Ooof - cupboard pretty bare in that case.

            Real preference would be to upgrade in midfield next time out.

            Could still go Hwang I guess for the next 4 which are pretty tidy really and then look to move on - especially if you have a viable back 4.

            Pukki? King? Can't say I'd bother personally. That just leaves you looking at Southampton which feels like a mare's nest to me.

    Its been a while since I posted my team on here, but I'd appreciate your pearls of wisdom on the following:

    Ramsdale
    Chillwell Cancello Rudiger Livra Omo
    Salah KDB Raph Havertz Brownhill
    Vardy Maupay Broja

    1 FT and 1.0 itb and options under consideration are:

    1) KDB > Son
    2) Maupay > Toney
    3) Both for a -4
    4)Stick and carry the FT over

      5th/6th.

      Great manager, but squad needs work. Can't see him plugging all those holes in January window.

    Just throwing this idea out there….
    Was thinking about the busy schedule arriving and a team like Chelsea who are due to rotate a lot. Would it be worth getting kepa at 4.8 as a fun sneaky way to get some surprise points throughout the period?

    I’d play him every week and Sanchez would naturally come on but I could get some points no one else gets when he plays.(and keeps a cleanie lol)

    I dunno a bit of festive fun!

      If you've got 0.8 or 0.3 to spare

        Yeah I’ve got the .8
        It’ll just like having an expensive Steele as I do at the mo.
        I bet kepa plays cup games only. That’ll teach me!

    What players have been in your team since gw1? Mine are Salah, TAA, Raphinha and Foster. Thinking many have at least 3 of these as well.

      I think it’s worth it, you’ll make your points back and some, you don’t want to be the one with a benched Christensen when chilly and James haul again

          No problem. I think I prefer Hwang to Jimibez but Palace is a tough game this week. Best of luck!

    Any reason why brentford shouldn't score a hatful vs Norwich and Toney be the main beneficiary? Seems more likely than Salah away to west ham

      No, they should score a few and he should be involved. I believe in Ivan but at the same time I'm afraid of Havertz déjà vu.

      Somewhat tempted, even if attacking wise they've been less than exciting lately. Have both Toney and Mbeumo, capping either would be a high risk/high reward move.

    Anyone else with Ederson instead of City defence. Worth keeping. Still think clean sheets will come.
