The FPL players who are most underperforming their xG ahead of Gameweek 12

Among the underlying statistics on offer in our Members Area is expected goals (xG), which many will be familiar with already.

Simply put, xG is the measure of a quality of shot based on criteria such as proximity to goal and angle of attempt. For example, a shot from inside the six-yard box will carry a higher xG than a speculative effort from 35 yards.

When these stats are collated for a player, you get an idea of how many goals they should be scoring.

However, it also gives us an opportunity to identify those who are underperforming in front of goal, via their xG delta. This is calculated by subtracting the xG figure from actual goals scored.

So, in this, our latest Fantasy Football Scout Members article, we’ve analysed the top xG underachievers in each respective category ahead of Gameweek 12. Ideally, we’d look at a player’s goalscoring expectation over a longer period of time, but focusing on this season’s data alone does reveal some interesting findings, which we’ll explore below.

    A) Havertz, Vardy -> Jota, Kane +1.3m ITB

Been out of the loop over the Itnl break and looking to get the squad into shape for GW 12. 2 FT - 0.2 ITB & still have WC

    Sanchez
    TAA - Cancelo - Rudiger - Livra
    Salah - Raph - Havertz
    Vardy - Toney - Antonio

    Foster - Veltman - Sarr - Brownhill

    What would be your moves?

Came into the break thinking Sarr > ESR and just play Foster for Sanchez suspension - still think that they play. Havertz will need to go when Lukaku is back also

Anyone with Son or Kane tempted to captain them over Salah this gw?

I'm tempted by Son against Leeds.. could go wrong but Arsenal have been better defensively and might not have Mane/Firmino playing them

I don’t get why a handball on a shot that is going wide, results in a penalty. If a player overruns a ball and is impeded, the ref can say you’d have never got to the ball (before it goes out), despite the foul. Not sure why the same judgement can’t be made with this type of handball.

Nice part of the country. You should be able to negotiate a Sky Sports package for between £40-50. BT Sport on top of your broadband is an extra £12.50 or so.

Watching this game is like watching England playing against my son's under 12 team. When is something going to be done about farcical teams like San Marino in international competitions? I have been following football for over 30yrs and for as long as I can remember San Marino have been a joke team that gets hammered by everyone.

They clearly can't compete. They should not be allowed in these competitions. Soul destroying for them as well. Kane is literally being gifted goals which has an impact on goalscoring records etc. Rooney must be squirming watching this.

I can never understand why we always seem to play Albania and Sana Marino? Why is it never France or Spain or someone worthy?
I imagine a World Cup without big teams would be dull, so is there some fixing going on of some kind as to why we always play these sides? I'm confused

I'm sure Rooney would have played the likes of San Marino at some point.
And why wouldn't San Marino be allowed to take part in international competitions? At least they are a nation in their own right, and not just a constituent part of one like some teams.
I agree though that teams ranked below, say, 150 in the world or in the bottom 10% of their federation should have to go through pre-qual rounds.
