Who are the best FPL captain options for Gameweek 13?

Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) looks to be the leading captain candidate once again in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), as Liverpool host Southampton in Gameweek 13, but are there any viable alternatives to the Egyptian?

First, we will assess the fallout of the Gameweek 13 captain poll, before then analysing the best options, Rate My Team (RMT) and the Premier Fantasy Tools ratings ahead of Saturday’s 11:00 GMT deadline.

THE CAPTAIN POLL

For the sixth successive Gameweek, Mohamed Salah is the leader of the captain poll, this time with a whopping 72.9% of total votes from our users at the time of writing.

No other player has garnered more than 10% of votes at this stage, with Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.8m) in second place, backed by 5.22%.

A surprise inclusion, Emile Smith Rowe (£5.9m), occupies third level with Harry Kane (£12.2m) on 4.33%, followed by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£9.9m) with 2.69%.

    Would you wait one week to get James in for Chilwell if you've got bench cover and prioritise getting Jota instead this week?

    I'm leaning towards Silva seeing as Jota is back to his usual stop-start scoring, and it would enable Vardy > Lukaku next week.

    Which of these games does Foden miss? The first 2 fixtures are tricky , so Pep may want his best team for them. However, he could also just bench Foden for West Ham (given how City performed without him vs. PSG), and bring him back for Villa midweek.

        I'd really like to do Schmeichel -> Ramsdale, but not sure that's where I would use my transfers with Leicesters fixtures the next GW's. But Schmeichel has been the pain of my life the last 8 GWs...

          He's probably least likely Chelsea defender to be rotated as he's well rested. Expect rotation with 3 GW in a week between 2 CL weeks.

          Probably. Christmas is coming up so everyone will get rotated, so have to disregard an element if it.

          Whether or not we keep a CS this week is another question, but at least with Alonso you're not just paying for CSs.

          I'm not picking him up this week as needed to get Jota & Gallagher, but I'll likely get him next week.

    Definitely doing Chilwell to Alonso. I'm keen to get Jota and personally I prefer the look of Kane to Son on eye test, stats etc.
    A. Just Alonso and roll*
    B. Alonso, plus Son to Jota. This allows either Vardy to Kane (or Lukaku), OR Mbuemo to Foden next week. Former leaves cash for a Brentford upgrade.

    *if holding Son, Vardy will most likely go to Jota and Foden in a -4 formation switch next week.

    Hwang a much worse option than Jimenez?

    If I do Antonio to Hwang for this weekend it allows me to do Mbuemo to Jota for 14 but if I get Jimenez I can't afford Jota.
