Southampton v Newcastle postponed as second Gameweek 21 fixture falls

Southampton v Newcastle United has become the second Gameweek 21 fixture to be postponed.

The game has been called off due to a lack of numbers in the Magpies’ squad and follows the earlier announcement that Leicester City v Norwich City wouldn’t go ahead on New Year’s Day.

A Premier League statement said:

 “Southampton FC’s match against Newcastle United at St Mary’s Stadium, due to be played at 2pm on Sunday 2 January, has regrettably been postponed.

“Newcastle United continue to have ongoing COVID-19 cases and injuries that led to their match against Everton FC being called off earlier this week. The Board accepted the postponement application as the club does not have the required number of players available for the match (13 outfield players and one goalkeeper).

“The Board was able to make its decision in advance of the fixture to give clarity to the affected clubs and their fans. We apologise for the inconvenience and disruption caused to supporters’ festive plans.”

    If Dennis was being prevented from playing in the AFCON his agent and family would be all over social media. Dennis himself has not released a statement yet people are jumping to conclusions and claiming he's being oppressed and mistreated.

    The irony is when Dennis was being prevented from playing for his country due to a fall out nobody said anything. Nobody here came online to voice their outrage at the former Nigerian manager. People stayed in their lane.

    I'm sure there will be an update on Dennis fairly soon and common sense will prevail.

    Plan this week was Rudiger to Cash, but now only have one forward if Liverpool covid rumours are to be believed (took an early punt on Firmino for AFCON). Not sure what to do now. Could still do that and upgrade Allan to anyone up to 6.1 but no-one stands out. Could downgrade Firmino but again same reasoning. Could get rid of Salah to upgrade Firmino to Kane but seems silly getting rid of Salah in this scenario (and if I was to do that I think I'd rather go for someone like KDB so getting Salah back is doable in a single move).

        For example Targett has worse stast but better returns. Already has 1 goal and 2 asists compared to Cash who has played all minutes but has only 1 goal, not even 1 assist. Not the best if you ask me even the stats
